She got a smile as an answer first, which pleased Jill, but the disappearance of it, did not. Clearly she was not handling this conversation very well, and it was no big surprise, she was little used to the company of other girls, or even people her own age. Horses seldom took offence at her words. Eyebrows drawing together in confusion, she stared at the girl next to her, before realising that maybe it was considered rude, and quickly turned her face away. The forlorn pose made her want to offer something as a truce though, and she said the first thing that came to mind, regretting it as quickly as it was out of her mouth. "Well, at least he loved you enough to make up a story for you!" Once the words were said, she wanted to hit herself, possibly bash her own head in if she could. She had no business going around and telling other people about her parents, well implying things, but anyway. Quickly scrambling for something to say, she found her mind surprisingly blank, the tense silence only dissolving somewhat when the elf girl stretched her fingers out to Salma. Clearly, she preferred the horse over Jill, but the latter would certainly not hold it against her. Jill loved Salma above anything else, and would only see it as a sign of good taste to prefer the horse. Humans, after all, you could meet every day and be none the wiser, but to truly value meeting a horse, that was something Jill understood. Therefore she leaned back in silence, watching the red horse preen under the clever fingers of the elf girl.
The red horse seemed to enjoy the scratches, trying to edge closer without success, the stairs and their feet being in the way and Salma disliked stepping on people. When Seda asked her question, the horse raised her head, shaking it, the red mane rippling around her, glowing like burned copper in the early sun. She lifted her right hoof, scratching it on the ground a few times, as if saying 'I am the most clever and handsome horse in all of Ferelen, that's what I am'. She finished her little performance by nudging Seda's shoulder again, breath warming the girls neck and throat.
