Sitting awkwardly, shoulders drawn in and hands fisted in her lap, she continued her attempt on a smile that wasn’t pathetic. So far she still seemed to be failing, mouth drooping into a grimace every so often. Feet tapping and knees bouncing Seda’s head bobbed along in agreement to Jill’s words, unsure of what to say. The traveling would be fun but they would be working and there was something about being a mercenary that didn’t sit well with the elf. She loved fighting but she just wasn’t sure about it at all. She owed Henrik though and as ashamed as she was to admit it she felt lost without him, and even the others, these days.
Going cross-eyed as one half of the delicious smelling sweetbread appeared before her nose the girl raised one tentative hand and cautiously took it from Jill. Murmuring her thanks she ripped off s small piece, chewing slowly, savoring the taste. Tilting her neck back as Salma’s shadow engulfed her in darkness she cocked her head to the side curiously before a head was pushing at her shoulder. She might have shared her apple but she was not sharing the sweetbread. This was a rare treat and, besides, she was selfish when it came to sweets.
Frowning stubbornly, jaw set, she was prepared to tell Salma just that when Jill’s clear voice rang out again. Lolling back to look at her she nodded, she would like another apple to feed her temporary friend. Setting her own food down on her lap, she reached out, slow and wary as if afraid of being struck, and grabbed hold of the fruit. Staring down at it for a moment she glanced back up at Jill from beneath her hair and smiled brightly at her. “Yes, thank you.”
Arm drawing back her teeth bit down into the soft flesh and tore off a huge hunk. Holding up her hand, palm held flat, she offered it up for Salma’s dining pleasure. Giggling softly, face softening, as the horse picked at the apple Seda hurriedly bit off another piece to give to her. Gaze flickering to Jill she licked her lips once and took a deep breath. “So you worked at a farm before this… were there many other horses there?”
