The other girl didn't react the way Jill had hoped, but her reaction revealed something Jill hadn't realised before - she must be elven. Or well, Jill didn't have more to go on then her height and her reaction. The other day Jill had tried to talk to an elf girl who worked in the castle, and had been met with the same reaction. Except this one was braver, stepping back to answer Jill even though her face was pale and her demeanour nervous.
Biting her lip thoughtfully, Jill stepped back and sat down on the steps to the bakery. It was early still, she was unlikely to be in the way for any larger stampede of customers. Looking up at the girl she smiled, trying really hard to look friendly. Jill was aching to make new friends in Highever, after living so long far away from the city.
"Of course I don't mind!" she said, dimples peeking out and her eyes shining. "She's her own horse after all! Well, she is sort of my horse as well, but I'm as much her rider, and we're each our own persons..." Trailing off she made a face when she realised she had lost track of what she was trying to explain, but then giggled instead, Salma swinging her head to look at her, before turning back cuddling with Seda. "Oh, your family travels? We just moved here, we're...I am, I guess I ought to say, going to be a messenger for the Teyrn. Delivers letters and such."
Looking down at the armful of apples and sweetbread she was still holding, a thought struck her. "Do you want to share this?" she said, trying to indicate the interesting braided bread smelling sugary and tasty. "It smells very nice and it's always nicer to have someone and share pleasant things with."
