The coins in her pocket had been enough for a freshly baked bread-bun, two apples and something made out of sweetbread, braided into an elaborate twist and smelling of cinnamon and sugar. On the whole, Jill was pleased with her loot and she was quite sure she would come back tomorrow, the owner was pleasant, and had even added the apples for free when Jill told him about her new job as a messenger and her horse waiting outside.
She stepped outside, quite expecting a grumpy horse eager for company and occupation, and was therefore surprised to see that someone else was keeping Salma company. While Jill did feel responsible for her horse, she also viewed the animal as a person in it's own right, quite able to make friends and fend for herself. Therefore she was more surprised than nervous, and only stepped through the door, kicking it shut behind her since her hands were full and then came to stand beside the slight, dark haired girl. She smiled in a friendly manner to her, to show she wasn't upset for her to be talking to her horse.
"Her name is Salma," she offered lightly, trying to redistribute the items in her arms. "I see you have already won her heart by giving her apples. I'm Jill by the way." Having lived for so few days at Highever, she had only made a few friends yet, and anyone who her horse seemed to like was a good sort of fellow according to Jill. Salma was a great judge of character after all. "Do you live here?"
