The young elf wasn’t entirely sure where Henrik was, she had heard him mention some dwarf friend coming to town a fortnight past but it was all something of a blur to her now. Regardless he hadn’t been home this morning and even the comforting presence of Ardal’s great shadow had been missing when she awoke which meant that she had nowhere to hide from the two younger men. The two had been nice enough she supposed but being around them made her nervous, especially without Henrik or Ardal to act as a buffer. So uncomfortable with only Batson and Kosta around for company she had snuck out of the small home she had led her to over a month ago and set off to explore more of Highever.
Sticking close to the walls she skittered around people, practically leaping away as if burned if any got to close. It earned her many a strange look but Seda could care less what they thought about her. No one was going to grab hold of her. She wouldn’t let them. Hands clenching at her sides, teeth grit, she stalked down the street in a flurry. Head whipping back and forth as she went, looking at anything and everything, her steps slowed to a halt. She had no idea where she was.
Cringing, breath coming out in sharp gasps, she self-consciously rearranged the hair hiding the tips of her ears and edged off the busy road. Fingers running along the rough brickwork she continued to pull herself further back, only stopping when she was plunged into darkness. Freezing, she slowly pivoted on her heel only to rear back in surprise when she met the mellow eyes of what she thought for a moment was a monster set on devouring her. Once her heart stopped trying to escape out her throat she stood still, blinking, as she realized it was a horse and a nervous titter escaped her.
As the horse’s snout drew closer, brushing at her hair, her anxiety melted away. Eyes wide in awe and fascination she giggled happily, practically breathless. “Hello there. How are you today?” Squeaking silently she resisted the urge to hop back as the horse’s head lowered and pressed against her pocket. Standing in confusion her mouth slipped open in realization, “Are you hungry? That is my breakfast but I can share if you haven’t had anything.”
Reaching down for the apple she had stowed away her hand paused and she looked up suspiciously at her equine companion. “You really haven’t had anything, right? Because if so you have no one to blame but yourself if this all goes to your thighs.” Staring intently, waiting for some sort of response, the elf suddenly nodded and stuck out her tongue at some sign only she saw.
Pulling the fruit free of her pocket she looked around before raising one finger high in the air. “You better not get me in trouble. You may be cute but I can hold a grudge.” Apple to her lips she bit down and ripped one piece off, holding it out to the horse with a bright smile. “Breakfast is served, lethallan.”
