Johann might very well be about to drop, but the operative word was about. She just wouldn't let herself. If Han decided she wasn't going to do something, well, that was that even if the something in this case was letting her stiff, tired body have a break. There were more important things to do.
The mage's brief comments gave her plenty to think about. It sounded as though they really had no idea what was going on up in the woods, which was bad news, but not entirely unexpected. If they wanted so badly for intelligence, they'd have to be willing to deal with Johann. That suited her just fine. This business about a 'skirmish' and losing a Warden, though... terrible thought. It only reaffirmed her notions that Redcliffe itself must already be in trouble.
The mage muttered about a Warden and mild surprise snuck into Johann's expression, curiosity making her scan the crowd again. She didn't see anybody who struck her as particularly Warden-ey, but in another second she caught sight of an adorable little blonde puff of a dwarf girl shuffling across the square towards them. She was even lifting her skirts, it was dainty. Fine, girlish skirts at that, with that little round face of hers looking barely a few years older than Johann's own daughter. Smudged all over with soot, though. Johann approved of smudges on general principle. And was that...? Well, it sure as ever was a brand on that little girl's cheek. Castless! Apparently she'd done pretty damn well for herself coming topside. Good for her.
Johann scratched her nose and glanced surreptitiously up at the dark-haired woman again, trying to hide her amused disbelief. You're shitting me, said her sparkling blue eyes. She looked at the dwarf girl again and smiled as the mage (whose name she still didn't even know) introduced her, crossing her arms over her chest. "My neck of the woods, you can hardly turn around without tripping over one," she supplied, in following the Enchanter's comments. She offered the girl a hand to shake goodnaturedly, and to her credit the outstretched arm only trembled a little from exhaustion. "Name's Johann, like the lady says. Johann Bronson. It's a damn fine surprise to meet you, darlin', I wasn't expecting any Grey Wardens."
She shook her head, the lines of her face deepening a little and her welcoming smile dimming with worry. "I need your lot's help somethin' fierce. It's like someone stepped in a hornet's nest up there, but instead of bugs we get great bloody monsters swarming out of the ground. A lot of freeholders and mountainfolk are going to die if troops don't get out there soon."
Her cheek twitched, a twinge of fear. "A lot of 'em probably already have."
