Player-character meme

Quite often there is a lot of thought behind a character that isn't obvious to the other players. Let's face it, character-creation is
one of the most entertaining and fun parts of RP, so much that we're once and again driven to create more character and join new games.
But usually I realise that I have a lot of little points or titbits of knowledge that only I know of, and there is no other way to share it with the others in the game. Therefore I wrote up this meme.

This meme depends entirely on how much you want to share with the other players. Answer with as much detail you want, or keep it short and sweet. There are many memes out there for characters themselves, their favourite foods and childhood memories, but not any pertaining to the relationship between player and character.
So this is simply meant for those out there who like me want to share the birth of our characters and the thoughts behind it.

1. Was there something in particular which inspired your character(s)? A song, pb, storyline, etc.

2. When creating your character(s), did they end up with any characteristics or backstory that surprised you?

3. If any, what scenario would you say you are exploring as a writer, with your character(s)?

4. Is there any particular scene or situation you would want your character(s) end up in?

5. How is your character(s) different from you and what do you have in common?

6. If you met your character(s) in real life, what would you think of him or her?

7. Is there anything you especially detest or admire your character(s) for doing?

8. Do you think your character(s) will have a happy ending? Why?

9. Do your character(s) have any relationships (love, hatred, friendship etc) that wasn't at all planned, or surprised you?

10. What is the oddest fact that you know about your character(s), but that hasn't come into play yet?

Here is the coded version to use as you reply. Have fun, it's going to be an interesting read!

1. Was there something in particular which inspired your character(s)? A song, pb, storyline, etc.
Not really, no. When I was creating her it came to me that she was part Kaylee from Firefly and part Daine from Tamora Pierce's Wildmage series and part bits and pieces of other things just out of my head, but mostly I just went "Hmm, need a character. I'm always playing rogues, I should try something different for a challenge. I don't like playing mages. Therefore I should give it a go. What would make me less annoyed about playing a mage? Shapeshifters are interesting. How can I do that?" Went on from there.

2. When creating your character(s), did they end up with any characteristics or backstory that surprised you?
Pretty much all of it. I was originally building her to be much younger and (even) more naive in a lot of ways, and the Collective idea sprang out of nowhere and transformed her. In good ways, hurrah for that bit of inspiration. Her having been in love with her mentor, ditto, though it's proved quite useful as a spur.

3. If any, what scenario would you say you are exploring as a writer, with your character(s)?
Writing a magic-user. Not usually my cup of tea. I prefer to bash things on the head, given a choice. ;) What few magic-users I have written are much more the brewing-potions type.

4. Is there any particular scene or situation you would want your character(s) end up in?
I'd like to see Dar challenged, in several ways. One thing I'd certanly like to see is her being captured at some point. She's quite confident she can use her shapeshifting abilities to escape from anything, and of course is wrong, but hasn't been tested on it as thoroughly as she thinks she has. That's something she'll need to learn sooner or later.

5. How is your character(s) different from you and what do you have in common?
We're both very curious and playful in the right circumstances, and I did for years pretty much refuse to wear shoes because I enjoyed being barefoot so much. I'm a lot more outgoing than she is, however, also I pay more attention to my appearance and I'm not an atheist.

6. If you met your character(s) in real life, what would you think of him or her?
I'd think she was adorable. Enthusiastic curiosity wins me every time, and let's face it, knowing someone who could turn into critters would be nifty.

7. Is there anything you especially detest or admire your character(s) for doing?
I'm annoyed with her for having spent a year running around doing nothing because she got her heart broken. Okay, being heartbroken sucks and it was her first, but a year of running around in the wild avoiding people? That's a bit much, surely! On the other hand, given that she had become so hermetic, I admire her for finally finding the drive to stop running around the wild and instead devote herself to trying to do something to fix the aftermath of the Blight, even though she has no inclination to become a Warden herself and really isn't a fighter.

8. Do you think your character(s) will have a happy ending? Why?
Got me. Probably, she's a fairly content/it-is-what-it-is sort of person underneath it all, so unless she has an unexpectedly violent death she'll probably be okay.

9. Do your character(s) have any relationships (love, hatred, friendship etc) that wasn't at all planned, or surprised you?
Haven't been ingame long enough to have many interactions with others yet (should change that), but her conversation with Emil is surprising me. Talk about people from two completely different backgrounds.

10. What is the oddest fact that you know about your character(s), but that hasn't come into play yet?
The atheist part, perhaps, though it's not a huge part of her personality. Still, it caught me by surprise, and it doesn't seem to be a common view in Thedas. Plenty of people reject the Maker/Chantry but we haven't seen many who just plain don't see the point of them.
