"Aaron's Rod" Longevity Bath [22 May 2009|09:03pm]

"Aaron's Rod" Longevity Bath

"Aaron's Rod" is a nickname for the flower known as "Goldenrod". There are over 100 species of Goldenrods, and you'll find them in meadows and pastures, along roads, and ditches. They have bright golden yellow flowerheads. Here's what you do...

Gather a few of these goldenrod flowers. (You can also find them at almost any florist) Get 2 bowls. In one bowl, boil some water. Place the goldenrods in a strainer above the other bowl.

Create an infusion by pouring the boiling water over the goldenrods in the strainer...so that the boiling water fills the other bowl after going through the strainer. Draw a nice bath for yourself, and set up up some candles.

Pour the water into your bathwater. Take a bath, and relax... you're adding time to your life!

A spell to get rid of negative feelings: [12 Apr 2009|01:12am]

[ mood | creative ]

A spell to get rid of negative feelings:

Source: The Supermarket Sorceress by Lexa Rosean

Ingredients:
One onion.

I offer this spell as an option to all the enemy spells. It is quite effective and spiritually regenerative. Simply stand alone in a dimly lit room, preferably when the moon is dark, and peel an onion.

Onions are ruled by Mars and are used todraw anger or negativity to the surface. Onions open the heart chakra which is why we cry when we cut them. In Esoteric philosophy, anger is the layer covering pain or sorrow, and sorrow is the key to wisdom and understanding. In many situations it is our ego thathas been damaged that prompts us to seek revenge. The onion's spiritual vibration compels us to peel away the ego and help us to see things through another's eyes. Onions bring clarity and cleanse the emotional body.

As each layer is removed from the onion, feel the layers of emotional baggage being removed from your heart. Peel away hatred, envy, jealousy and pain.

This spell is very effective with love relationships that have turned bitter or hateful. After performing this spell, you should no longer posess the desire to "get even."

Follow up this ritual with a warm bath, adding to the tub three fistfuls of kosher or sea salt, a tablespoon of rose water or sweet condensed milk, and a pinch of oat bran. These ingredients will maintain a positive and healing vibration in your heart center. As you soak in the tub, meditate upon what you have learned from the situation by not "getting even."

Releasing Toxins [22 Mar 2009|12:59pm]

Releasing Toxins

Color of the day: Orange
Incense of the day: Heliotrope

Our bodies are sacred reflections both of our species’ genetic pattern and of our individual spirits. We must strive to keep our bodies and minds healthy and aligned. In this culture, it’s almost entirely impossible to live a completely pure, unpolluted lifestyle. It’s essential to cleanse one’s body of toxins that have built up over a period of time.

An ideal way to do this is to perform a juice fast for a couple days or engage in a different type of fast. If performing any sort of physical fast or bodily detoxification, light a yellow candle to represent burning away unhealthy energy, both physical and metaphysical, as the two are often interlinked. Cup the burning candle with your hands, saying something like:

As this candle burns, I perform this physical detoxification. May the alighting of this yellow wax signify the mutual cleansing of my body, spirit, and mind. Hail be, ever-changing universe. I ask that I be aligned to health, healing, and constant spiritual sustenance. So mote it be.

Though you have performed a physical and metaphysical detox, continue to be mindful of what you consume, as well as the situations you surround yourself with—mental health is just as important. Remain mindful of the origins of your food; you may even choose to eat only organic foods after researching genetic food modification and its politics, or you might become vegetarian or vegan after researching the reality of the welfare of our animal allies.

Rose's Knot Binding "Love Co-Op" Spell [20 Feb 2009|08:57pm]

[ mood | cynical ]

Rose's Knot Binding "Love Co-Op" Spell

As you can see from the title, you'll be doing this WITH your partner to keep your relationship strong, for as long as you desire... This spell will make sure you stay together, and will counter efforts for anything to break the two of you apart...

STEP 1: One partner will take asquare handkerchief or cloth andtie two knots in it.

STEP 2: The other partner will take it and tie two more knots in it.

STEP 3: Next, both partners will take all four knots and tie them all together to make one big tight knot. Both people need to pull as hard as possible to make this big knot as tight as you can.

STEP 4: Both put your hands on the bigknot and visualize a life of happiness, forever... together.

I do recommend doing this at your altar within your circle...but the beauty ofthis is that there's nothing you need to say, and you don't NEED to do it at an altar... just in case your significant other isn't aware of your belief in Magick.

Rose Ariadne's Seven Hathors Of Friday The 13th Protection Spell

You'll need
1 small cup of your favorite beverage,
1 piece of your favorite fruit cut up into 7 slices,
and 1 long red ribbon cut into 7 pieces.

1. Create an offering table to call the attention of the Hathors.

2. Spread out the cup filled with your beverage, the fruit slices, and the ribbons on the table. One for each Hathor. (The Hathors are ancient birth room spirits, but they also provide protection on certain days... and can grant gifts and wishes as well)

3. Speak softly over the ribbons, explain your desires, your fears, and what you want. For example:

"Seven Hathors I speak to today, come and dine at my table.
My gifts I give freely, only 2 things I request.
Protect me from bad luck on Friday the 13th,
and send me some good luck that makes me smile."

Remember, protection from bad luck is most important...don't get greedy with your desires... they'll send you a little good luck if you keep it reasonable.

4. Tie all 7 ribbons together.

5. Hang these ribbons prominently all day long... then bury them in your yard on Saturday.

6. Should their help be needed again, summon the 7 Hathors with seven new ribbons.

Helping Mother Earth Heal Those in Need [23 Nov 2008|09:17pm]

Helping Mother Earth Heal Those in Need

For those not skilled in magick and spells, you can lend strength and energy to those in need simply by lighting a green candle and doing the following:

Picture a white ball of energy coming out of your chest (near the sternum or breastbone). At this point you may wish to say a few words or simply focus on the pain and suffering coming from the group you are focusing on (refugees, starving children, etc).

You are offering this energy to any and all who need it, so try not to focus on any one person or face from the papers. From deep in your chest, *push* the ball. You will feel the muscles in your chest pushing and your shoulders drawn in toward the center of your torso. This will send the energy to the place and group you were thinking of.

Remember, one person can make a difference.

In addition to magick, why not call the Red Cross. Find out what groups are doing relief work in Albania, Somalia, Serbia, etc. Volunteer to collect canned goods, clothes, blankets, etc.

Jar Love Spell for Enchantment

Need:

Photo of person who wish to enchant or if you have no phone, write their name on a piece of paper.

Jar of lavender or clove honey

Red candle

Take the name/picture of the one you wish to enchant and simply place in the jar of honey or lavender. Seal the jar and place the red candle above, letting it burn completely so that the wax from the candle seals the jar. Place the jar in a secret place until your lover has responded to you. Take the jar to a stream or lake and deposit it there when you have achieved your desire (i.e. you got married to the person or are moving in with them, etc…)

Blessing of the Book of Shadows
by Silver Ravenwolf

Hearken as the witches' word
calls to All, a gulf to ford.
Bridge the vast realities,
An it harm none, do as ye please.

Elements protect and guard this book,
From wandering eyes and prying looks.
Fill it with thine ancient power,
In this right and ready hour.

Powers of North, the East below,
Help me to live, to learn, to grow.
Lend your strength and stability,
To practice the Craft and with love be free.

Powers of East, the Wind, the Sky,
Watch over these pages with thine eye.
Your wisdom and knowledge, for these I do ask,
That this book be worthy of the Craft and its task.

Powers of South, Fire, and the Hearth,
Help these Shadows to prove their worth.
Infuse them with all your Healing and Passion,
So only good comes from the Work that is fashioned.

Powers of West, the Water and Sea,
Change and growth are granted by thee.
Bless these pages with all that you know,
That righteous readers may learn and grow.

And to the unschooled eye that see
Confusing words and sophistry,
Lead them from these sacred pages,
And bless their passage through the ages.

For free will of all,
And harm of none,
As I have willed it,
It is now done.

So mote it be!

Samhain - Gateway Spell [26 Oct 2008|11:56pm]

[ mood | calm ]

Samhain - Gateway Spell
To Communicate with the dead.

Purpose: To speak with our beloved dead.

Background:
Samhain is the time of year when the veil between the realms of the living and the dead are thinnest. This is when we remember and honour our ancestors as well as the recently dead, and in many circles we build a gateway to the west - the quarter of death - through which the dead might come and visit just for that one night.

Giving ourselves this special time to acknowledge our sorrow at being seperated through death from friends and family is a healthy approach. Western society generally discourages too much contact with death, and just as the bodies of our loved ones are tended to away from home by professional funeral directors, so our feelings are filed away as not to cause embarassment in public.

At Samhain, we can let ourselves feel sad at departures and acknowledge the importace to us of those who have died. The Samhain circle is a safe space in which to grieve - and remember on our own terms - those we have lost.

Samhain - The Festival of the Dead. [26 Oct 2008|10:37pm]

idabotha82
[ mood | calm ]

Samhain - The Festival of the Dead.

Celebrated on the last day of October in the Northern Hemisphere and the first day of May in the Southern, Samhain stands halfway between the Autumn Equinox Modron and Yule. It is sometimes seen as the beginning of Winter, but it is also the Festival of the Dead, when we remember and honour the ancestors. It is a magical time when the veil between the worlds of the dead and the living is thin, and in Wicca and Paganism we celebrate death as a part of life, and to give positive value in the idea of going into the dark.

Our Celtic ancestors Saw Samhain as a key point of the year's turning, a chance to begin anew. The eighth century scholarly monk Bede custom named November the "blood month", and he attributed this to the slaughter of beasts in preperation for winter provisions. With the surplus from Summer burned on a "balefire", our peace made with the dead and preperations made for the winter, our ancestors may well have seen this as a key departure point from the old cycle into the new. This is why Pagans today refer to the cycle as the Celtic New Year. Although Samhain is literally "first frost" and thus the first of the winter festivals, it also marks preperation for change.

This is the Season of the Hag Goddess, Associated with Nocturnal creatures such as the Owl. - Photo: "Sleepwalker feeding owls" By Basia A. On Deviantart.com

Celebrating the Crone Goddess
The Season associated with ghosts, spirits and the dead walking. It is the season of the Hag, or Calliach (Scots Gaelic meaning "old woman"), the Crone aspect of the Goddess who midwives us with great compassion, from life to death. She is Rhiannon, Goddess of transition. Cerridwen, Goddess of the cauldron and Hecate, weaver of wisdom and gaurdian of the crossroads.

The Crone Goddess is celebrated to some extent in the plastic masks and costumes that children wear at Hallowe'en.

Nowadays, Witches celebrate by holding a ritual in which we name, honour remember and speak with the dead. Beginning with those who have died in the last year, we move on to family and friends and then commemorate all our ancestors. Then, out of grief, we bring back joy and name the newborn babies of the last year, the new friends and oppurtunitied we have met. Samhain serves as a reminder that life contains death, but it also contains the mystery of rebirth and the movement of the cycle onwards.
