6:25PM - Installation help - disks from different countries?

I hope someone here can help me.

Two years ago, my Open For Business disk stopped working. (And a month afterwards, the computer my S2 was installed on was attacked by SpyWare.)

Recently, I decided to take up the game again. We got the older computer back up and running, though OFB still didn't work. So we uninstalled it, and erased all downloads. And everything has been running fine. I went ahead this week, and ordered a new copy. (Along with Seasons, which hasn't arrived yet.)

OFB #2 came in the mail today, but it turns out it's from the U.K. My copies of the base game and Nightlife were sold here in the U.S., and we're worried about compatibility. As far as I can tell, we have all the requirements.

So the question is: Is it okay to install this new disk?

(I searched MTS & Sims Wiki, and couldn't find anything on this.)

12:35PM - Faith Sim

I really want the Faith Sim from this page. However, when I downloaded the Sims2Pack file and tried to install it, I got a message that it contains expansion pack data that I don't have. The page I downloaded it from indicates that the Sim's supposed to be base-compatible, and I have Uni and NL as well.

If I can't have the whole Sim, I can design my own, but I really want the tattoo skin the simmer used, which s/he doesn't seem to offer for download independently. Is there some way I can get it? Or does anyone have that Sim and can just upload the skin for me?

3:31PM - Uninstalling Stuff Packs

So, I googled around, searched sims2wiki, MTS2 and MATY, and have not yet found an answer:

What happens if you uninstall a stuff pack? I mean, I know TS2 files are not backwards compatible for expansion packs, which makes sense, since each one alters gameplay in some very basic ways, so it stands to reason. But stuff packs only contain "stuff" so I thought maybe it would be okay to uninstall one, or transfer files from an installation with one to an installation that has all the required EPs but not the SPs.

Basically, I have Double Deluxe, which contains base + NL + Celebration, but I want to uninstall it and revert to... base + NL, without Celebration. I don't normally buy stuff packs, and I only got DD because I lost the first CD of my basegame. Rather, it was stolen. Base game solo isn't sold anymore, but I thought if I could buy it used off of eBay, I wouldn't have to worry about SecuROM.

So, does anyone know what would happen?

uh?

I was just going to sort through my legacy pics and found... that some of them, actually a lot from the last session are grey! but not all. did I do something wrong, like did I change something wthout realizing? sometimes I miss the right keys, maybe I clicked a shortcut for blackwhite without noticing?
please help! >_<

12:13PM - Custom Neighborhoods & Expansion Packs

So, I'm thinking of eventually getting the Seasons expansion pack, which I know adds a new neighborhood to the game. What happens to existing custom neighborhoods, like N004 and so forth? Do the new neighborhoods override them? Should I manually change the folder name to a different number?

6:19PM - Heeeelp!

Ok, without using the insimenator, is there any way (cheat code/mod) to give sims a 'face lift'. My family just had the ugliest twins ever.

Also, you know how in Free Time sims have a natural inclination for a hobby? Is there any mod to change which one they have a natural inclination for?

I can't find either of these on MTS2.

Almost forgot! When playing sims on my laptop, the computer and TV have no image. Just a black screen. The sound plays fine, but without the image. Is there a way to fix this? It's fine on my PC.

11:34PM - Bug's Life: Black Screen University

Yay, I have another bug. I swear, I'm upgrading my laptop tomorrow and then this should never happen again, or rarely at least.

I assigned a custom university to a custom neighborhood. I placed lots. I moved one Sim from the main neighborhood to uni and placed her in a dorm. I played her for two days, saved and exited. That was yesterday. Today, I tried to play that particular university and the game froze, IE: it got past the loading screen for the uni sub-hood, then the screen turned black and stayed that way a good ten minutes, with the music still on.

I terminated the game through the task manager, where the status of the application was "Not Responding."

I have a fairly recent backup I can restore from, but before I rewind my neighborhood I wanted to mine my fellow simmers for information. Have any of you had experience with this type of bug? Anyone know what causes this? My instinct is that it's a resources bottleneck, but....

8:18PM - Fire Bug: Evolution

My fire-related bug has evolved since last I posted about it. I installed Uni, and now instead of the whole scenario freezing, the firefighter comes and puts out the fire like normal, except the fire animation doesn't go away. The stove isn't on fire, because Sims can cook with it, no one gets burned, etc. but the animation is stuck.

Now... I am almost 100% sure that I saw an object/mod/cheat/technique/something for nuking fires stuck on lots. I thought it was the lot debugger, but I have that and I checked all the options. Does anyone know a cheat that does this? I've googled and come up with nothing.

ETA: I forgot to mention two things, namely 1) I ran the hack conflict detention utility and it found nothing, and 2) when a Sim's computer caught on fire from him trying to fix it with not enough mechanical skill, the fire didn't stick to the computer. I'm going to run a test with the cheapest grill.
