About: | The Old Firm Complete discreet disposal of irksome and unwanted mammals etc From the outside, an anonymous, slightly derelict shopfront - perhaps a little heavy on the air of sleazy noir detective, but otherwise unremarkable. No one's exactly sure what The Old Firm do, despite the text which seems to imply that they're in pest control (actually it's a literary joke, based on a Neil Gaiman short story... a joke Aaron alone understands, probably); generally the firm are seen as 'fixers', general dogsbodies who'll dabble in any and everything. In truth, it's the HQ of the human 'Resistance'. Aaron 'Mal' Malloy - The illustrious leader - malloy_oldfirm Reluctantly leading the motley crew of freaks, geeks, runaways and lost souls. How, exactly, did a self-confessed labrat, most comfortable lurking in the background and keeping things ticking over rather than being the catalyst for anything, get there? It’s something of a mystery to him too, really, though the answer is painfully simple; everyone else, the people who go out and risk their necks, just keep on dying. Which means that somehow (and this would be really amusing if the position didn’t come with so much baggage, starting with that life expectancy…) he’s ended up the sole surviving member of the team who established the first resistance. Technical whizz. Genius on good days, obsessive compulsive crazy the rest of the time. Anna Lynn D'Arn - back from the dead and still not sure what she does. Coffee, maybe? - annaisshiny Anna… basically doesn't have any real job-skills, as far as their vampire slaying, ass-kicking stuff goes, or any real job within the group. If anything, it would be keeping everyone entertained (or annoyed, as the case may be) with her hyper-air-headed-sweet-innocent disposition, and making the most amazing coffee ever. She ran briefly with the Resistance group, back when it was in it's early days, then saw a chance to slip unnoticed back into "normal life", and took it, not saying good-bye to anyone there, hoping they'd think she died, so no one could find her. Years later, her new life in shambles, she sought out Aaron, the only member of the Resistance she remembers that is still alive, and showed up at his doorstep. Cassie Turner - handling the practicalities - turner_oldfirm The official second-in-command (such as there is any real hierarchy) and the most business-like of the group. Officially Cassie’s a journalist, which is probably how the resistance are so well informed (not least because she’s the one 'sophisticated' enough to move around 'respectable' society), but off the books she handles the niggly little things the idealists don’t think about and Aaron hasn’t got any real clue how to run,and as such is a bit of a 'Jack of all Trades'... by which meaning a glorified accountant. Not so much with the actual 'pest controlling'. Tara Morrison - the vigilante - tara_oldfirm Tara’s a total anti-vamp fanatic following the murders of her family. After running as a rogue slayer she’s teamed up with Aaron and co because they seem to have the best chance of kicking undead ass, though she’s not really interested in them beyond that potential. She’s all about doing, and gets frustrated with the waiting and planning and more waiting… and anyone not 100% focused on the slaying is likely to be on the receiving end of her wrath. Journey 'Jed' Walker. Ammunitions and Incendiary Device Expert. - gunsnexplosions Not a lot to say about Journey Walker. Except don't call him Journey. Stupid hippie name his mother gave him; his dad skipped out pretty early on, so he just contributed the sperm and the 'Walker' part. He preferred 'Jed', thanks so much, and he'd shot men for less of an annoyance than insisting on using his real name. He had a couple of things going for him - army taught him all about guns and bombs and things that go boom. They also taught him how to kill real nice and clean. Did pretty good by him, the army, until a nest of vampires took out the rest of his team and Jed made the grievous error of telling his superiors exactly what he'd seen. | ||||||||||
