While it's been less than a year in the Nexus, it's been several years for Lust. When he found himself in the Nexus again, he spent time wandering around looking at things, having more than half forgotten about the place.

When he's done doing that, he started pacing back and forth, agitated. "I wish she'd get the fuck over her obsession with him. He's dead and not coming back. Although I suppose it's to my advantage. If she did, she'd probably get bored and get rid of me."

He eyes the Sign from the corner of his eye in order to help reduce the headache looking at it gives him. "I don't even know what the fuck I want to ask. Why the hell do we have to ask something anyway?"

You might not recognize her since her appearance has changed since the last time you saw her and not only her appearance, but her cheerful disposition. She is indeed Rubette La Lette, but her unique blue hair and mauve eyes mask her usual appearance. She seems to be going through a bit of a rough patch.

"How...tell me how I can get the real me back?" It's kind of a vague question and she's pretty sure it's impossible, but she can't think of anything else off the bat.

Sylphiel might look a little on the vacant side, but she's really deep in thought here. If she's going to ask a question it might as well be a good one right? Right!

It took her several moments but her expression went from day-dreamy to animated in the space of a second, "Ah! I think I have a good one...so, they say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Sir Gourry has a very healthy appetite to say the least, but so far he's only able to associate food with remembering my name which is better than nothing I suppose. So I've been wondering if there are exceptions to this rule? Do all men love food as much as Sir Gourry? Or are there better ways?...Oh...well that's more than one question so I hope it's okay."

The Nexus: where talking to oneself has new and exciting meanings. [May. 30th, 2011|08:51 pm]

Alternates aren't unusual in the Nexus. This one's not an Elric, though, or connected to that universe.

Zel seems to be arguing with his alternate under the Sign. Thankfully, you can tell them apart -- the usual Zelgadis is dressed as he normally is, in tan head-to-toe. The newcomer has swapped out an orange T-shirt for his normal long-sleeved tunic, and is missing his sword-belt.

The other one is also human. This is relevant. Remember it.

"-full of shit," chimera!Zel was saying. "You can't-"

"I'm you, you idiot," human!Zel interrupted. "Plus eight months of my own time, and years of yours. It wasn't worth it, and you'd probably say the same damn thing if you were me."

"I would not. Probably not."

"Are all alternates this insufferable?" The two managed to ask the question in unison.

[Since human!Zel is my Zel formerly from Sabra La Tau, he has his own account.]

A new LOL has seen fit to arrive at the Nexus. There are toy My Little Ponies everywhere, waiting to LOL the poor unsuspecting sucker that picks one up. If they do, they'll get turned into a pony.

For those bright enough to not touch anything? There's pony-shaped confetti flying around, attacking their victims. There's no escape.

So, how many are out and about in the Nexus today?

Someone had pushed a flowercart into the Nexus, under the Sign. A cheerful banner proclaims "Happy Valentines' Day!" with other signs saying "Sweets for your Sweetheart" and "Flowers for your Flower" . Buckets of water stand inside the cart, filled to the brim with roses of various colors. On either side stand stacks of chocolate boxes and racks of bags of conversation hearts. The entire thing is done up with more pink and hearts than a little girl's bedroom. There's no attendant in site, nor are prices marked.

[OOC: LOL Instructions: The roses' thorns are extra in-the-way and able to pierce through anything, and one prick (stop snickering) will cast a spell of altered emotion on the holder. Your choice who it affects: first person seen, changing the character's strongest relationship... whatever seems like a good idea. Here's how the flower colors match up:

[
Red: love
White: reverence/loyalty
Yellow: friendship
Pink: admiration
Orange: passion/lust
Lilac: infatuation

[In departure from Nexus tradition, the candy is safe, free and utterly delicious. If you want to risk eating food lying around in the Nexus, that is.

A sentiment that's deeper than loyalty [Feb. 3rd, 2011|07:07 pm]

Paul usually sat in the gardens of the Elric Apartments with his Bible, studying its words, but today, he was at the sign. And he was pacing a big while he reads, fingering his rosary like worry beads. "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends," he finally said. "John, fifteen, thirteen."

He sighed, closing the book, careful of a piece of paper that tried to flutter out from somewhere in the early Old Testament. "These are noble words to live by, but terribly frightening. There are terrible things going on in my homeland right now, and I am in a unique position to try to help before it gets worse. But I have been advised to stay here for my own safety. What would you do in my position?"

Sandra is sitting on one of the couches scattered around the Sign, for once without her Hiding Cloak, with her legs curled up awkwardly and her arms wrapped around, as close as she can get to hugging her knees to her chest with her odd legs. In a quiet but echoing and other-worldly voice, she asks, "How long after something changes should you stop hiding it and try to accept it?"

She pauses a moment, then clarifies. "Not puberty or your dad re-marrying or something normal like that, but something that shouldn't have ever happened, and in theory should be able to be put right again."

Well, they needed to know where they could find a Gourry a sword, right? So let's put that awful-looking sign to use. There's a young man standing in front of the sign, looking utterly baffled. He has a streak of dirt on one cheek, presumably from the large potted plant sitting on the ground in front of him.

"What..." Ken blinks up at the sign, at the people around him. When the hell did this get in their storeroom? Or maybe he should be wondering when the hell Youji managed to spike his water without him noticing, because obviously he was hallucinating. That was the only rational explanation for this shit. He glanced down at the plant, as if considering the hallucinogenic properties of the average household palm plant.

"Uh. So I have to ask a question?" Well fine then, he'd just ask the most pressing one that came to mind.

"Which way's Tokyo?"

There were many things that Gourry could say to the magical glowing sign. Where Lina was. Where he was. Why everyone was dressed so strangely, or what day it was, or what the hell was going on, seriously. Many things.

And yet, none of them came to mind. None of them even seemed relevant in the face of the burning question that he actually asked:

"So where's good to eat around here?"

Here is a young woman who has been wandering up and down streets for some time now. She is doing her best to appear inconspicuous and nonchalant, with limited success. It probably does not help that she is exuding nervousness and paranoia; head low, hat pulled down, eyes darting back and forth behind the glasses that she doesn't actually need.

When the sign catches her eye, she stares for a long moment, trying to figure out what it's advertising. Detergent, maybe? Insurance? Religion? All that viral marketing stuff is lost on her, she supposes.

There is a question that nags at the back of her mind, the same one she asks herself every morning, but she doesn't see any point in saying it out loud. Instead, she asks: "What are you selling?"

But it seems there isn't much choice, so he fumbles around in his brain for a minute and then smoothes back his long green hair, trying to appear poised.

"Have you ever, in your life, found yourself lower than you'd thought possible? If so, how did you survive?"

Zelgadis looks irritated. Not an unusual look for him, honestly. He is seated, with a guitar, and is trying to pick out chords and a melody -- usually it goes for a couple of bars before you get discord and him making a disgusted sound before giving up for a bit. "How do you get rid of a song stuck in your head? I've already tried other songs."

There is also a bouquet of flowers next to him. Feel free to ask about that.

[OOC Note: Zel is suffering from Shader's LOL. He's got this little NSFW ditty* stuck in his head, and should he sing it aloud, it will spread.

Shopping for answers [Apr. 7th, 2010|12:55 am]

filia_ul_copt

The Nexus was a nice place. It wasn't easy to afford some of the prices set, but there were paints available which were like nothing she could find at home. Those special editions of her pottery sold for very steep prices, more than enough to turn a profit off the initial costs.

And while she was here, why not a trip to the sign? No, she wasn't looking for someone, hoping to see someone. It had been so long, she really had no actual hope. Just a chilled fragment of a ghost that faded out in a whisper of expected disappointment as she arrived and looked around.

A question. There were a few she had on her mind, but really, most weren't worth asking. Where did he go? What if it was intentional? What if she'd misread him all along... which wouldn't be the first time she'd misread someone. No, if he did still come around, it wouldn't get back to him that it bothered her.

"I've heard a saying recently. 'The road to truth is long, and lined the entire way with annoying bastards'," Filia began. "Do you have any annoying bastards in your life that you simply cannot shake for anything? What in the world possesses them to hound your every step, to appear at the worst possible times, to make a nuisance of themselves? And everything about them is the embodiment of pure evil? And what if, despite that, they're counted in the very tiny ranks of people who seem to have been truly honest with you?"

Okay, what Ran was expecting when he walked into the precinct's doors? Not what he was currently seeing. He expected an elevator ride up to the lab, to get the shakedown on anything he hadn't already been called about, and go back to processing evidence, examining trace, a normal day's work after the last few weeks of playing psychologist-slash-English-teacher to an extremely fucked up teenage victim of a human trafficking ring.

A normal day's work (usually) didn't involve wondering just how Danny Messer had slipped acid into his morning tea without him noticing, especially since they didn't live in the same building or indeed even in the same neighborhood (Ran wasn't even sure Danny knew where he lived,) or a neon sign so obnoxiously bright and close it almost made his glasses darken. And Ran lived in New York City, had lived in Tokyo before that, he was used to bright neon. Just not. Right in his face.

"...a question."

Fine, he'll bite. He's been wondering about this anyway.

"...how would you deal with suddenly finding yourself the caretaker of a teenager with PTSD and a language barrier?" He can deal with this in a professional capacity, but he's painfully aware that this will require a more personal approach.

Its been a long time since this Roy Mustang has entered the Nexus. In fact, he's rather surprised by it. He glances around, taking note of those around him. There's no way the military could have followed him here, but they could have found another way here. They've wanted access to the Nexus, still now that he's found it again, he can use it to his benefit. He heads into the center.

"How long can you fight before you forget how to do anything else?" Mustang asks, with all the weariness of one who is getting tired of conflict. "I'm also curious if there are ways to get information from one world while I'm here?"

Havoc can remember his first unintentional visit to the Nexus. It had been just after Katherine's rejection, which had been on the heels of Mustang steeling one of the ladies that he'd had his eye on and even asked out.

Since then his life has changed, trapped in the Nexus, meeting alts, suffering LOLs, finding his way home and saving his world only to end up back here, then his Mustang and Hawkeye finding their way here and bringing him home. He'd been a second lieutenant when he first came, now he was a major. Friends that were single were now happily married. Havoc had fallen in and out of love.

Now, years from that first entrance, Havoc strolls in, slumping down onto the couch. "So you ever think you're cursed when it comes to something?" Havoc asks, "Like relationships?"

Somethings never change.

Somewhere in the Nexus, there is a door.

It is not a very large door, constructed to the average height and width of the front door of the average suburban house. On the whole is is entirely unremarkable, with only a peep hole and door knob to make it any more than a large, painted plank of wood. Those who frequent the area might notice that it is rather new, however, seeing as it appeared just now.

This is probably where the original author would derail into an epic off-the-wall tale about alternate dimensions or magical realms, but the current writer is both too tired for that shit and wholly uncreative.

The door opens to admit a tallish female figure into the Nexus, wearing a closed, hooded trenchcoat that makes her look like a monk released from an insane asylum and smelling faintly of a great many supernatural things should one be given to noticing those sorts of scents. Raw magic, werewolves, a faint trace of limbo, some sort of rabbit--the brimstone is likely the strongest of those scents, though. Tends to cling around a demon.

Sandra closes the door to her house behind her, not noticing it vanish and only noticing that she's not in her usual surroundings after she misses the marked lack of a step down to the street and stumbles. "What--?" She stares around at her new and somewhat strange company (was that a Transformer?) and blinks several times before forming a coherent reply.

"What the hell did Jack do now?"

Hello, Nexus. Meet Sandra Eastlake.

Who is this mysterious redhead? [Nov. 29th, 2009|06:29 pm]

There's a redheaded woman approaching the sign, a little red wagon in tow. The wagon is laden down with drinks of all sorts- beer, sodas, bottles of harder stuff, even some juices. Anyone with a sensitive nose and a familiarity with homunculii will be able to tell she's a homunculus, but there's nothing in her behavior or facial expressions that suggests someone in particular, and Envy was hardly the only homunculus who could alter his form.

Looks like a new homunculus in town. Of course, you normal humans won't notice a thing except that this lady really likes her drinks, and looks like she needs to gain about twenty pounds. She dresses like your typical barfly, and she's got an impish smile that suggests she giggled longer than fifteen seconds over whatever she's up to.

The wagon seems to be giving her a little bit of trouble, but not too much. Finally, she pulls it up next to the sign and grabs a stool, perching on it. "So what's your favorite drink?" she asks, still grinning. She grabs a Mike's Hard Lemonade from the wagon and opens it, taking a sip. "You're all welcome to something."

((OOC Note: This really is Envy, yes. He has found a new constant disguise that he wants to abuse for evil. However, no, your character can't tell it's Envy. :P And the drinks are LOL'd. Prepare to have a character sparkling like a certain failvamp from a certain book series that may or may not be called Twilight. Envy has been silent and keeping his head down in the Nexus since he got here about a month ago- Envy's not exactly the sort to go diving headfirst into something unknown, and since this is Envy we're talking about- shapeshifter and forever-people-watcher, it's doubtful he's been noticed.

However, he thinks things are getting boring around here. So it's time to get a question out there that will stir up rants and drama.

"Has the Nexus affected your relationships? And if so, how? I don't mean in terms of the ones developed in the Nexus so much as the ones you've already had," she clarifies, in case anyone has somehow misunderstood.

Anyway, he's not actually drinking any beer right now -- instead, he's sat down on the edge of a fountain in the 'main' area of the nexus, with coffee! Decaf, but coffee.
