a hero will save us just in time
There's a man in a brown cloak and green clothes sleeping on the back of a horse that's meandering towards the sign. Epona looked around, snorted, and stopped by the sign rather abruptly, waking the man on her back.

Link snapped awake, blinking somewhat blearily. "Did we get to Termina already, Epona?" he asked, yawning. Then he took stock of his surroundings. "Where are we?" He slid off of Epona's back, one hand on his sword hilt as he investigated the area, Epona sticking close.

Then he noticed the sign. "Ask a question," he echoed, reading out loud. "What, besides the obvious 'where am I'?" He looked around. "All right. I guess this is customary around here, better stick with local customs. Have you ever been away from home for a long time? What's it like going back?"

	"Yeah, the Deku Tree." Link grinned fondly. "The guardian spirit of the Kokiri Forest and father to the Kokiri. I was raised Kokiri, even though I'm Hylian." He looked sad for a moment. "Forest children," Link explained. "They're a race of eternal children that live in the forest. They're forbidden to leave, because they could die if they did. The Deku Tree made them. I was left there by my mother, who died getting me out of a big mess. Our home was attacked, I think. I can't really remember, I was a baby then. I just know what Rauru said to me."

"Okay, here in the Nexus, there's a portion of it that's covered by what's called an Anti-Violence Field, or AVF for short. The strength of it varies, it's not as surefire in some places compared to others. The apartments are in the strongest area of the AVF, right here, it's pretty strong, but psionic attacks have been known to go through. Basically, it stops people from attacking each other, to a point. If you tried to attack me, it would stop your blow from landing, but the action of doing so would then remove any protection for you, allowing me to strike back if I choose. Of course, if I chose to do so, then that would also remove the field from me. But if I did nothing, nothing you could do would have any effect. So basically, a good rule of thumb, if you're in the AVF, never make the first strike, and unless you're certain you can win, don't even make the second."
