Somewhere in the Nexus, there is a door.

It is not a very large door, constructed to the average height and width of the front door of the average suburban house. On the whole is is entirely unremarkable, with only a peep hole and door knob to make it any more than a large, painted plank of wood. Those who frequent the area might notice that it is rather new, however, seeing as it appeared just now.

This is probably where the original author would derail into an epic off-the-wall tale about alternate dimensions or magical realms, but the current writer is both too tired for that shit and wholly uncreative.

The door opens to admit a tallish female figure into the Nexus, wearing a closed, hooded trenchcoat that makes her look like a monk released from an insane asylum and smelling faintly of a great many supernatural things should one be given to noticing those sorts of scents. Raw magic, werewolves, a faint trace of limbo, some sort of rabbit--the brimstone is likely the strongest of those scents, though. Tends to cling around a demon.

Sandra closes the door to her house behind her, not noticing it vanish and only noticing that she's not in her usual surroundings after she misses the marked lack of a step down to the street and stumbles. "What--?" She stares around at her new and somewhat strange company (was that a Transformer?) and blinks several times before forming a coherent reply.

"What the hell did Jack do now?"

Hello, Nexus. Meet Sandra Eastlake.

That made Elizabeth look up at him in a mild panic. "It... shit, it just sorta happened, Al's going to freak when he gets back from the cafeteria with Russell and Fletcher, shit, shit, they're gonna kill me."

She got up to try to start walking and wound up just sitting right back down, clutching her abdomen. "I wouldn't turn down some aspirin or something before that, though."

"What does Tringham have to do with anything? And calm down. Flipping out isn't going to accomplish anything. Maybe you'll get lucky and your portal'll behave the way mine used to. That being, delivering me back to my version of Amestris a few minutes after I've left there even though I'd've been here for hours."

He pinches the bridge of his nose. "I can't give you any meds, because I don't have any. Don't need or use 'em. Are you sure I shouldn't either have Winry come here or take you to the apartments to see her?"

Elizabeth looked on the verge of tears. She realized she was lost, possibly had no way back, she was in pain and her hormones wouldn't settle from what happened for a few more weeks.

"Russell, he and Fletcher have been traveling with us," she explained, avoiding his other question. "Al was with them in the cafeteria when I got up, and they're all three gonna kill me. Do you know what it's like being the only girl in a group of guys? They all think they have to fuss over me. I have to get back before they realize I'm gone."

Oh god. Don't cry on him. He's not sure that he'd know how to deal with a crying female alternate.

"Considering that I'm a guy, I wouldn't know. But I'm guessing that it's fairly, um, annoying."

"To say the least." She grimaced. "Russell seems to think he has to play big brother to me as much as Al does when both of those jerks are younger than me anyway."

She ran her hands over her face, trying to calm down and not succeeding much. "So what happens when the change of scenery just kinda happens? Does that mean I'm stuck here?"

"Like if you're just taking a stroll through the woods or something with no doors involved? I dunno. I haven't gotten here that way. I got here through a door that normally leads to someone's personal library. And while it's perfectly stable on this side and it's possible to just go right on through again..." He shrugs.

"People use PINpoints for more reliable means of travel back and forth between her and their home realities. Along with sometimes visiting the worlds of friends they make here." He frowns. "I'm not entirely sure how to set them to the owner's home reality though. Someone else did that for me with mine and it was one she modified with tech from where and whenever she's from."

That whole 'verge of tears' thing was becoming rapidly less 'verge of' and more just 'tears'. "So I can't get home, is what you're saying."

She wanted to go home and curl up on Al's lap about then.

Watch Ed become panicky and try not to flail as a result of getting in over his head.

"I didn't say that! I just said that it'd be harder to figure out than for someone whose way home is nice and stable."

What did you expect, Ed? You're dealing with a female you. Who's still an irrational teenager.

She doubled over a bit again, clutching her abdomen. "Okay, so I just start walking, like I did before and that should theoretically work, right?" She struggled to her feet.

Yes, she'd try to walk that if you let her, Edward.

"I would make a sarcastic remark about the likelyhood of pigs spouting wings and flying, but the Nexus being what it is, winged pigs would probably actually see fit to go sailing by. And please don't make me sit on you to make you stay put."

Given the way Elizabeth is clutching at herself, Ed has a nasty suspicion that he knows what she was in the hospital for. And considering that she brought up Tringham, he also thinks he knows who's responsible. Of course, he's only partly right in his conclusions, but he doesn't know that.

Well, hey, you'd be close, Ed.

She gave him a dirty look. "You wouldn't." Oh, she apparently didn't know herself or her alternates very well, if she says such things. "I have to get back."

Ed considers that. "Maybe, maybe not. Would you prefer I sling you over my shoulder like a sack of potatoes and drop you on my alt's doorstep? You can scream all you want about needing to get back. We still need to figure out how to get you back there first."

Elizabeth's indignity. Let her show you it.

"Don't you dare," she snapped. In no small part because she has a feeling that'd make it hurt worse. "You're going to dog me all the way around this place until I agree to go to this alternate's place, aren't you?"

She's a smart girl. She caught on quick.

Ed beams at her. "Bright girl! When we figure out how to get you back there, just tell him your trip here was unintended, since it's the truth. It's not like people usually mean to end up here the first time. Or even all of the following times."

"Following times?" Elizabeth didn't look very impressed at the idea. She sighed. "Fine, fine, I'll go to this place. God, now I see why Al acts the way he does around me." Watch her eyes roll outta her head.

"Yeah. I remember a time where someone had obviously not been planning on arriving here when he fell from the air. He even still had bubblebath on him, so be glad you arrived with clothes on. I swear, the sight of him naked is still engraved on my eyeballs."

((Right. Let's spare CC's inbox.))

((Like we have so far. XD))

Elizabeth has this 'omgwtfbbq' look on her face for a second. "... right, glad I had clothes on. Let's... just go now. Before you say something else to break my mind."
