Somewhere in the Nexus, there is a door.

It is not a very large door, constructed to the average height and width of the front door of the average suburban house. On the whole is is entirely unremarkable, with only a peep hole and door knob to make it any more than a large, painted plank of wood. Those who frequent the area might notice that it is rather new, however, seeing as it appeared just now.

This is probably where the original author would derail into an epic off-the-wall tale about alternate dimensions or magical realms, but the current writer is both too tired for that shit and wholly uncreative.

The door opens to admit a tallish female figure into the Nexus, wearing a closed, hooded trenchcoat that makes her look like a monk released from an insane asylum and smelling faintly of a great many supernatural things should one be given to noticing those sorts of scents. Raw magic, werewolves, a faint trace of limbo, some sort of rabbit--the brimstone is likely the strongest of those scents, though. Tends to cling around a demon.

Sandra closes the door to her house behind her, not noticing it vanish and only noticing that she's not in her usual surroundings after she misses the marked lack of a step down to the street and stumbles. "What--?" She stares around at her new and somewhat strange company (was that a Transformer?) and blinks several times before forming a coherent reply.

"What the hell did Jack do now?"

Hello, Nexus. Meet Sandra Eastlake.

Envy is a shit-stirring bastard.

Elsa gives Zel a look. "Of course we were," Elsa says. "I was just telling him I bet he had to fight off the ladies with a stick. I asked if maybe he had a special one in mind."

Amelia looked between Elsa and Zelgadis, absorbing what Elsa said, and Zel's reaction and response.

Thank Cephied for court training, that expression never changed, the smile staying firmly in place. "I see," she said, buying herself another moment of time as she worked for a more coherent response.

Then the smile became dazzling and bright and even a bit coy as she turned to Elsa, closing one eye and holding up a finger. "Oh, Mister Xellos, is that you?"

Oh, now he figures out what was going on. For someone so smart, Zel can be a bit dumb about women.

That changed when Amelia mentioned Xellos, and he gave Elsa an accusing glance. "That would be like Xellos."

Elsa gives them both a 'bitch, please' look. "I dunno who this Xellos person is, but please. If I had a name like that, I'd change it, ay-sap."

"He's someone we know from our world, who likes to do things to make things interesting," Amelia said, and maybe her smile grew a little more artificial. "But I apologize, I'd only assumed you might be him because... well..." She shook her head, "Anyhow, it's no matter. It's been nice to meet you, Miss Elsa. This trip to the Nexus has been an interesting one."

She looked to Zelgadis. "I'm sorry for interrupting, Mister Zelgadis," she said with a smile. "I hope your search is going well. Goodbye."

"You weren't interrupting. I was just finishing here." Zelgadis was still giving Elsa glares over his shoulder.

Elsa smiles, then cups one hand to the side of her mouth, silently saying "tell her, you dummy" before waving to them. "You two kids have fun."

Envy the shit-stirring matchmaker. Who knew.

"Well, I'll let you get back to your search then, Mister Zelgadis." Amelia hesitated, giving him a small smile. "It is good to see that you are still doing well. I wish you luck." At that, she turned to depart.

She paused and glanced back at him for a brief moment before fully turning to face him, her hands clasped in front of her at the waist. "Yes, Mister Zelgadis? What is it?"

"I was a bit slow to respond earlier. When that person said we were just talking about you, I got confused, since you interrupted an argument about why I was annoyed at her being a Xellos-like pain in the ass. I didn't realize what she meant until later, and then you had the wrong idea."

She was quiet for a moment, tilting her head to the side a bit as she studied him and focused on keeping her expression impassive. "Then you were talking about me?" she asked, her voice quiet.

"I guess so." Zel looked a lot less annoyed and serious and more... mostly bewildered, and a bit flustered. He seemed to pull himself together, then. "Yes. Unless you're secretly your evil twin or something."

The Nexus can have weird effects on long term residents. You worry about strange things.

Her lips quirked in a bit of a smile. "If I was my evil twin, the evil thing to do would be to not admit to it, wouldn't it?" That smile grew to a bitty, but warm grin.

"Well, yes, but just letting you know." Zelgadis paused. "I didn't think you knew about this place."

"Miss Filia and I still exchange letters, and she has mentioned this place a few times, and it sounded interesting. I confess to being a bit bored, as I'm afraid all that time on the road with you and Miss Lina and Mister Gourry has spoiled me."

"Well, we were never boring. Frequently in danger of getting killed, but never bored." Zelgadis smiled. "I can give you the tour, if you like?"

"Ah, right then." Zelgadis pulled back his hood, probably to take a better look around. And because he forgot about the Sparkle-LOL he was still under, despite having been arguing with the perpetrator shortly before.

Oh, right. The sparkles. Zelgadis fought the instinct to draw his hood up and hide again.

"Did Filia tell you about the food here? I had some iced tea I thought was safe, but instead I end up looking like I bathed in fool's gold."

"Unless you know it came from a safe spot, the food can have weird effects. Like this. Greed's bar is safe, and usually things you bring in yourself. The woman I talked to had brought in a drinks cart and the tea from it did this."

Amelia frowned. "Are you all right, Mister Zelgadis? Is it poisonous? Do you need me to try a dicleary on you?"
