A young aristocratic woman enters the Nexus. She is sucking her fingers, trying to get off a suspicious thick red fluid off the digits. She looks around with dark eyes, confused as she walks, still absently cleaning off her hand. When her eyes finally alight on the sign, she laughs, her index finger popping out of her mouth to show slightly elongated and sharpened upper and lower canines. "Of all the places I have been," she says, her voice rolling with a slight eastern European accent, "this is the first I've seen that invites that you ask questions. Ah, then... for a question, may I ask what there is to do around here?"

"I suppose it depends on what you like to do," Zelgadis answered. "I know when I first came here, the first thing I wanted was to use it as a clearinghouse of information."

If she is taken aback by Zelgadis's appearance, it only shows for a brief moment. "And is there information that can be had here?"

Yeah, Envy could smell that. He sits back, looking at her- she'd hardly be the weirdest thing he's seen around here, but considering who he lives with back in Amestris, it's just a bit disconcerting sometimes to see a dark-haired woman licking blood off her hand. "So what, you're like the Countess Dracula or something?"

I don't know why I stopped walking. I really don't. Ozzie would probably tell me that I was developing a writer's instinct for interesting things, but I don't know if I like that idea. I don't want an instinct for interesting things. Interesting things usually lead to lots of chaos and sometimes undesirable bodily fluids and frequently dirty clothes. At least nothing I own needs dry cleaning.

I want to develop an instinct for being a grill operator. Well, an even better instinct, anyway. Or maybe for tire sales. That would be useful. An instinct for interesting situations really isn't, especially when I find myself stopping.

Something about her reminded me of Datura. This could only end in tears.

"Well, it depends on whether or not you want to stay here, and whether or not you have a way back to where you came from," I said, not without a little bit of wariness.

I wasn't sure what that stuff on her fingers was, but given the nature of the Nexus, it was probably safe to bet that it wasn't cherry-flavored cake icing.

She looks over at him, smiling wide enough to show most of her teeth. How interesting he is, wary commoner. "Ah, but this local looks quite... interesting." Erzebet looks him over, much as one may look at a steak.

Sigh. Definitely Datura. Why do I get myself into these messes? The worst part is I can't even blame it on someone else.

"I don't know about that," I said. "How long would someone have to be residing in a place before they're considered 'a local'?"

On his way back to the apartments after a few shopping errands, Russell eyed the woman asking questions at the sign. She was definitely pretty, but she also had something about her that screamed "headache beyond Elric proportions".

"There's lots of different things to do around here," he said. Then the rest of it slipped out before he could stop himself. "Like finding a restroom to wash your hands."

Ed resists the urge to wrinkle his nose at the smell of blood. "Besides keeping an eye out for the local weirdness? Plenty of normal things, actually. Although things can get interesting in the stores since not everybody here is human or resembling human. There's been a time or two my brother managed to get sick because he decided to try a food that... shall we say wasn't meant for human consumption and he hadn't realized that until it was a little late."

Except he really doesn't care about her title or her name, he just likes showing off.

"Well, pretty much anything you want. Clubs, bars, all kinds of things." It's got a kitten in a basket motif on the side, with 'Kitten in the House' written on it. There's also a half-grown kitten riding shotgun in Takeru's hood.
