A certain semi-famous blond, spiky "ex-SOLDIER" walked into a bar Nexus, half-hidden behind the ridiculously large crate of booze that he was carrying. Naturally, it took a few moments before he realized that no, he wasn't in the store-room at the Seventh Heaven and yes, Tifa was probably going to kill him messily on his return no matter what, given that the door he'd walked through had conveniently disappeared behind him.

Sighing, Cloud set the crate down and leaned on it, reading The Sign with a bemused expression before shrugging fatalistically.

"What's your favorite cure for nightmares? Alternately, how the heck do you get out of this whole land of disappearing doorways?"

"I find something to do until I'm tried enough that when I do go to sleep, I won't really be aware of my nightmares," Derek replies.

"Alternately, you keep looking until you either find the dorr you came from, or it comes looking for you somehow."

"I guess that would be worth a shot. There's not exactly a lack of things to do," Cloud said, scruffing a hand through his hair before sighing at Derek's second revelation.

"I was afraid of that. I tend to have bad luck when it comes to these things."

"You'll get out eventually," Derek assures him, "The nexus doesn't keep folks for long for the most part. So unless you're already dead, it'll eventually spit you back out the right door."

He pauses for a minute, as if thinking, "If it takes a day or two, let me know. Maybe I can help you figure it out."

((OOC: Hey, I have Advent Children on DVD and can rip stills off of it for you if you need more Cloud icons.))

"I wasn't dead the last time I checked... though I could be wrong, I think it's happened to me before," Cloud said, "I'm more worried about Tifa killing me for disappearing on her."

((I have plenty of Cloud icons.. poor guy just doesn't get much in the way of a range of expressions in the movie. XD It's interesting finding stills where he's not being all emo.))

"Yeah, that might be a problem, especially if she doesn't know about this place," Derek admits, "Guess you could either tell her about it or else tell her you got jumped somehow."

((Heh. So very true. But at least he has more range of facial emotion than, oh, say, Squall. *g*))

"Considering it's the first time I've been here, unless she's been doing something in the basement that I didn't know about, she probably doesn't know about here," Cloud said, though he did half-smile at how silly the whole thing was.

"She'd never believe that I got jumped. There's a very short list of people who can successfully do that anymore."

((Squall is like one of those cat posters.. the one with the persian's picture over and over with different emotions under each. XD))

"You'd be surprised. Been several times folks from the same place have shown up and not realize others from their home have been here before. And considering that sometimes telling folks where you've been can make you sound like a total loon," Derek shrugs, figuring Cloud can finish that train of logic by himself.

"Got monsters that could sneak into the basement? Or phenomina that could explain your absence? That is, if telling the truth isn't an option?"

(("And how many ways can you say 'Whatever'?" *g*))

"But from me, it'd be no crazier than usual," Cloud said with a chuckle.

"The bar's far enough into Edge that monsters aren't a problem... I could blame it on Aerith, I suppose."

((lollerskates!))

"Well, at least you have a couple of ready-made exuses, then. Where I come from, the most remarkable thing are vampires. Otherwise, it's a pretty boring place. Trying to explain the nexus would have had me dumped in a looney bin pronto."

"Considering that the Planet and Aerith both have a bad habit of meddling in my life at inopportune moments, most of my friends have learned to take it in stride. Nexus can't be that much weirder," Cloud said, shrugging.

"Vampires, huh? I've never dealt with any of those. Closest my world has is Vincent, and he's more of a half-demon-thing."

"Heh. Don't say that too often--the Nexus has a nasty habit of proving people wrong at a whim."

Like the talking sink Derek met once. Yeah, that was not one of Derek's most fond moments. Appliances shouldn't be talking without a computer chip, let alone have a will of their own.

"Yeah. I bet Vincent has a better attitude, though. And less likely to leave an intentional mess in his wake without a good reason."

"Um! Well, if the cause of the nightmares is something you can directly adress, then doing something about it might help...or, um. Maybe talking to someone about it." Sarah chuckles nervously. "Sorry if I'm not very much help...I don't think I've ever had dreams quite that bad."

She perks at the second question, though. "PINpoints! They're little watches or remotes that you can use to get to any world with the right coordinates." She pulls out her own to show him--the watch is a little bulkier than normal to account for all the little buttons, but otherwise unremarkable. "I think I heard about something that'll find your homeworld coordinates for you, but I dunno what they're called..."

"If I could figure out what's causing them, I'd deal with it," Cloud said, nodding. "Problem is, I think it's something to do with ghosts and I doubt I could find anyone alive who'd know what to do about it."

Cloud perked up a bit at Sarah's brandishing of the PINpoint-- gizmos, at least, made sense. "Where could I get one of those? I'd rather not be stuck here waiting for that door to fix itself.."

"Eek. That does cause a problem, doesn't it...there's probably mediums around here that could help you, though. The Nexus has almost everything, I think."

"There's dispensers for them around the Nexus...I actually got mine from a friend, so I don't know exactly where to get one." Sarah bites her lip and glances around. "I think there's more of them over in...that direction? I'm not totally sure, though."

"I guess I could ask around, while I go looking for those PINpoint thingies," Cloud said, peering thoughtfully in the direction Sarah pointed. He could see that the place seemed to stretch on forever, and his sight was better than most.

Sarah looks out there as well, though she can't see nearly as far of course. "There's a lot of people that'll know where to point you to--I'm kinda in the minority, actually." She grins up at him. "There's other people around that could help you get home by other methods too; the Nexus is a generous place."

Aww, she's not that delicate. One of her best friends tosses her around like a ragdoll every week! ...okay, maybe not that bad.

"It's no trouble at all, really. I'm glad to help where I can!" She blinks and tilts her head at the crate Cloud brought with him, paying little heed to the small green fire lizard that just appeared behind her and settled to her shoulder. "Mind if I ask what's in that?"

See Cloud. See Cloud get distracted by the ZOMG dragon!

"Alcohol for the bar," he answered, gaze fixed on the fire lizard. "What's that?"

Pay no mind to the eager little puppy voice, plzkthx. Poor boy needs to keep up his image somehow.

((heh. I would have had Derek suggest one of those (he techincally has one of his own), but since the PINpoints are the brainchild of Eiko-player (and I don't think Eiko made the move), I refrained from offering. *g* I doubt there's any big deal though.))

((eh, I doubt it's a big deal. PINpoints were 'designed' when we all left Sages anyway and when Doctor T was no longer available to give out T-watches in Sages to begin with. I think as long as we give a nod in Eiko's Direction (which we just did), we're fine. And I can always double check with Eiko-player when they come online. I doubt they'll have a problem though--after all, there's a vending machine over in LJ's D_M that Eiko herself put there so we didn't drive her all crazy asking for them everytime a new pup showed up. *g*. No sweat. Carry on. ^^)
