Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Neville and OTA
Where: Indoor waterpark!
What: Going for a swim
When: Late morning, early afternoon
Rating: PG is safe

Neville had actually just given up on trying to figure this place out, and trying to get the hell off this ship. If his brain had brought him here ( because a part of him was sure he was probably in a coma at St. Mungo's next to his parents ), then he would simply enjoy it as it came. Besides, what was the worst that could happen, right?

After exploring one afternoon, he had stumbled upon a waterpark, and that looked like so much fun that he simply had to go to his room and change into some swimming apparel. Lucky for him, there was some in his trunk. On his way out, he looked at the mirror in his room, not bad. Neville had never been fat, but he had always been chubby, and after school he lost most of his baby weight while in Auror training. It was a fair trade off, actually. Fifty pounds of chubbs were gone, and twenty pounds of muscle were added. And really, Neville liked himself a lot more now. He was confident. Still a little shy, but confident, and comfortable in his own skin.

Once he reached the correct deck, he was excited to go swimming. After some consideration, he decided to start small and work his way up to the bigger slides.

Romilda Vane was down in the water park. Well, she wasn't playing in the water, yet... she was standing on the sideline in her swimsuit, looking at the slides with trepidation. Where to start? It looked... well, it looked rather strange. She'd never been to a place like this.

And then someone she sort of recognized came by. At least, she thought she did. Neville looked a lot different than the last time she'd seen him.

"Neville?" She hadn't seen him since his last year at Hogwarts. And he was starting to look better then, and now? Wow. A little smile crossed her features as she walked closer.

Of course, the years had been nice to her, too. She filled out her conservative swimsuit very well.

Neville heard his name being called and looked back in the direction of the voice. It took him a moment to put the name to the face, and he blamed the blonde hair for it. That and the fact that Romilda Vane and Neville Longbottom had all of one thing in common during their time at school. That simple thing was that they were in the house. Otherwise, Neville was almost certain they had never really crossed paths.

"Romilda," he asked cautiously. This place was crawling with ex-Gryffindors.

Not really, no. Romilda was a little younger, and had never been involved with anything Neville did. No DA, no Herbology... but she had made a bit of a fool of herself over Harry Potter. She hoped he didn't remember that.

"Wow." She said, taking a couple steps closer. "You look... different. When are you from?" She asked, breaking into a small smile. This was a little awkward. Should they hug, or something?

The shock factor was Neville's favorite thing about his new self. The way he got little looks from random people, or even people he knew! It was all quite great, he thought. Everyone merely expected him to always be that chubby failure all his time in Hogwarts, and even afterwards. There was a part of him that always wondered why that was the case, but he never dwelled on it. "Thanks," he said with a smile and scratched the back of his head. "You look good too, well, you always did, but the blonde hair is pretty on you. Different and all. To answer your question, 2002, what about yourself?"

"2003." Romilda responded. Now that she saw what he looked like, she was kicking herself for losing touch with him. Then again, it was a little strange--they were never close in school.

"Thanks," She added, lifting a hand to run over her hair. It felt a little crispy after what she had to do to it to make it blonde. "What have you been doing since school? I completely lost track of you--of everyone."

That was to be expected, Neville was honestly quite horrible about keeping in touch anyways. Even with Harry sometimes. If they didn't work together, chances were he wouldn't have talked to him. For Neville it was just easier not to say anything at all sometimes instead of forcing a conversation where there wasn't one. Some people could simply chat someone up by mentioning their clothes or their hair, and Neville often tried, but usually he wasn't sure what to say after the thank you.

"I've been working as an auror with Harry, and spending time researching plants when I've got a few extra seconds to spare. What about you, your dad still own the.... um, Wasps is it?"

"Yes, as long as I know he still owns the Wasps." She said, nodding and smiling. She was flattered that he remembered. She didn't think she'd made much of an impression on him back when they were in school together. Anyway, she'd had more of a thing for Harry, anyway, she barely noticed Neville. And now she was wishing that she had.

"I became the Fan Club President, which is rather fun and interesting. I enjoyed producing the monthly newsletter and getting to know all the players and their families..." Was she babbling?

"So... swimming?" She asked, giving him a shy grin. "Mind if I join you?"

This was all, rather boring to Neville. Quidditch was fine and dandy, but he didn't really follow it too much after leaving Hogwarts. He followed the games Ginny played in, but that was because he worked with Harry, and she was a close friend, but otherwise the sport was boring. Plus, he hated flying, and somewhat never got over his great dislike of it. Either way, he nodded as she spoke, pretending like he cared because it was the polite thing to do. Romilda, he had always thought, was shallow. About five centimeters deep, if he was honest. How fitting her surname was, but he could move past all the things that he had been through at Hogwarts, he wasn't that boy anymore. Maybe Romilda wasn't that girl anymore either... or maybe she was, he could surely give her the benefit of the doubt.

"No, of course not," he answered with a smile. "After you."

"Thank you." Romilda stepped past him and moved to one of the tables to set down her towel. She'd need it later to dry off and warm up, though it wasn't that cold in the room. The beauty of being indoors, right? She stepped over to the pool where all the slides ended up, and dipped her toes in. The water was warm. Perfect.

"Which slide should we try?"

Girls were so funny, but Neville was used to that. They were fickle, and they were usually very high maintenance. Romilda was, as far as he could remember, both. Either way, he shrugged in response to her question. Having never been here, he wouldn't know anyway.

"Which do you think," he asked and scratched the back of his head.

"The longest." Romilda said, breaking into a little grin. "The one with the most turns and drops." She added. She was never one to step down from a challenge.

She looked up at all the slides. There were five or six of them, she couldn't really tell. They were all different colors, different lengths, with different amounts of curves and twists.

"The red one?" She said, pointing up.
