"Welcome home! It's so good to see you!" Kristy exclaimed, giving Stacey a big hug. Even though she had seen Sam recently to shop for Stacey's birthday gift, Kristy hadn't seen Stacey for a couple of months. "Happy birthday! I got you something small, but it's at home so I'll give it to you tomorrow at Easter."
"Oh, you didn't have to do that!" Stacey protested. "But thanks!"
"Just keep it in mind in August when it's my birthday," Kristy replied with a grin.
"I will, so you better hope that I like it," Stacey teased back.
Kristy finally turned to Sam. "Hey, big brother. How's it going?" She hugged him, too, and added, "You owe me big-time. Mom was going to let Karen drive over with Andrew and Emily to get you guys, but as soon as I volunteered, Watson said they should just stay home. So I guess that you owe him, too."
They started walking out of the station house and Kristy pointed out her navy blue Toyota Camry. "I'm right there," she said, unlocking the car and popping the trunk from her electronic keychain.
