He wasn't going to say anything more, she guessed. This was it. Maybe they needed to talk more, but he wasn't saying anything and she couldn't handle being there, waiting for him to finally speak and possibly break her heart further.
"Okay," she said hollowly. She nodded her head, but she didn't know it. Her mind had gone into action mode and she was only thinking of the most efficient way to get out of there.
"I'm going to Mary Anne's," she told him quietly, wishing that she could see Claudia instead, but knowing that her best friend was in Japan with her family. Mary Anne, at least, lived close by. "I'm just going to pack a bag."
Without waiting for him to speak or stop her, she turned and disappeared into their bedroom.
