Sam sighed, wanting to say the right things and make sure the wrong ones didn't escape by accident.
The thing was, he'd been taking it for a given that he and Stacey would be in it for the long haul; he'd never questioned that. It was just that the aspect of actual marriage had seemed like a while off. He supposed it was stupid of him to think that she wouldn't bring it up sometime, as many of the people they'd went to school with got married around them.
He just looked at her and shook his head slowly - about what, he didn't know. He should tell her that he wanted it, but he knew it wouldn't exactly ring with conviction, and she would be sure to pick up on it.
