springtime is my favorite time of year. there is new life all around us, from the first bloom in a garden to the arrival of baby birds, rabbits and deer. amidst all of the pollution, mother nature finds a way to start anew: plants are green again, and after a rainfall, the earth smells fresh once more. i find it to be the most peaceful time of year. whenever i go outside, i find a new reminder of how closely tied our lives are to the nature around us, and how all life must learn how to coexist. these moments i remember, in the dark of winter, when it seems the snow will never end. life exists in cycles. winter to spring to summer to fall to winter again. birth to death. day to night. life begins again, even when all seems lost.

spring brings hope once more. it is a fresh start, for our gardens - whether we mean the garden in our backyard or the figurative garden of life. it may seem as though something is coming to an end, but life always begins again.



i think, now that the weather is warming up, i should hold more of my classes outside, near the water.

I DIDN'T DO IT THIS TIME, PETER

I swear, if not for yoga class I'd go totally crazy. Ben, you are an absolute lifesaver. I miss doing inversions, though! No headstands with baby on board. :( The belly is big enough to make Wheel awkward now, too, so I'm back down to just doing Bridge.

Alison's got the shop today, so everyone who likes smelling good should go see her at Bare Necessities! The spring scents are in, and if I do say so myself, they are beautiful.

Also, we're looking for some part-time help! If you have a nose for perfumes and fine bath products and a passion for helping people feel their best, come have a chat with us ASAP!

I'd like to extend an invitation to any and all who would like to attend an Easter service tomorrow morning. I've spoken with command and they've agreed to let us hold a sunrise service just outside the blast doors, provided there might be a few extra military volunteers willing to stand guard on the perimeter. I don't suppose there are any who are willing to volunteer?

I plan to start the service at 7am to coincide with the sunrise as best as I've been able to tell. One need not be Christian to attend, and I'll do my best to make sure the sermon isn't dull.

I also need a few volunteers to help with the readings.

Last weekend I got something very special in the Pod drop. At least it's very special to me. I got a blanket Yes, that is actually a picture of me. I also got some holos from home including some of Ben as a newborn which I appreciated since I wasn't there when he was born. Well I was and I'm in the holos which is strange since I'm also here but regardless, back to the blanket.

When I was a kid, Aunt Beru used to let me play with it. She told me that when I came to live with them, that was wrapped around me and someday she'd give it to me so that I could wrap my own children in it. I wasn't really that interested in that part at the time because I was probably around seven and what seven year old boy wants to think about being a father? I forgot about it when I got older even though it was still there but it never really hit me that it was anything special. Not until I was older and I knew that I'd never see it again because it was destroyed along with everything else when the Empire burned my aunt and uncle's home.

The so called Pod God proved me wrong though. It showed up along with some other things and I was happy to see it. It's the only thing I have of my birth mother's, she touched it and held me in it even though I don't remember, even if she barely got the chance to hold Leia and me before she died. Now I can share it with Ben. Like me, he has no clue what it means but someday he will. Someday he'll have a little piece of my history to pass on to his children. I'm glad that I have the chance to give it to him.

I don't think I've ever been that excited to catch a catfish before. It. was. massive.

I know that our meeting is scheduled for Tuesday night but I'm afraid I won't be there. As you probably know I've been in Medical the last several days helping care for Jim Kirk and I'll be here until I'm sure he's out of the woods.

The room is already reserved so if anyone wants to go ahead with it and have the meeting, that would be great. Since it's informal anyway it doesn't matter who puts it together. I didn't have anything in particular planned so feel free to do whatever.

Just let me know if you're going ahead, I hope you do because I think it's a good way for us to get to know each other. Also, if you know of any expectant mothers, they're welcome to come too.
