I'm overdue in thanking those that were helpful to me during the transitional arrival period. It's still - frankly - bizarre to lack a secret identity, but I appreciate the part where none of you tried to arrest or kill me. So, thanks. We touched something real, guys. Never forget that.

I understand that there's some apprehension regarding our new trading rules with the Grounders. It's a given, of course, that they'll take advantage, or we'll take advantage, and something will go downright medieval in its implosion. Little's perfect. The good news is that we're well-protected and we have active, involved leadership to help us keep the problems contained and dealt-with on a case-by-case basis. If there's an issue, bring it up. We'll solve it together.

Because I'm going to know if you don't.

I don't know if it's just the fact that it was Christmas before I was brought here or just that the surroundings are so different and I'm still getting used to them, but I can hardly believe that we're coming up on Halloween in just a few days. I was already well into winter, so it feels cruel to be teased with a flash of fall before having to worry about it all over again. I'll live, though. Probably.

You want to talk about how much you feel like murdering someone, or was shooting dummies cathartic enough for today?

This might sound odd, but is anyone willing to speak to me using sign language? ASL or JSL are fine because those are the only ones I know. We don't know how long we'll be here and it's kind of important that I don't get rusty at it from lack of usage. If nobody around here knows it I guess I can keep my memory refreshed by teaching it to whoever wants to learn it, but I'm not so good with people... so only a couple or few people at most.

Maybe I'll even take a Downer so I won't be an ass.

I have to admit, when I pictured a nuclear holocaust, [...] this is exactly how I imagined it. Of course, with a lot more bunkers.

And a lot less - what was it again? Interdimesional travel?

Mount Weather, I believe I still owe many of you an apology.

During my last radio broadcast a few Sundays ago, you may have noticed I got a bit more emotional than usual during our panel discussion. And then you may have noticed that you became more emotional, too. I didn't know it at the time, but when my emotions grow strong enough, it turns out they're literally contagious. Since then I've taken countermeasures, such as wearing gloves and refraining from speech when possible. I'm also in therapy four times a week. But none of that negates the stress and suffering I've inadvertently caused, and I am so, so sorry.

Obviously, I won't be returning to the radio until my emotions are under better control. Even then, I'll have someone around to cut the mic in case I become upset. But I will understand completely if that's not a risk you're willing to take. The last thing I would ever want to do is harm my fellow residents of this amazing mountain community.

In the meantime, Crowley is doing a wonderful job of hosting our weekly round-up single-handedly. Did you all catch his broadcast yesterday? I haven't enjoyed a radio interviewer this much since Terry Gross! Who, by the way, would make an excellent addition to our citizenry, if the Pod God is taking suggestions.

I really, really used to like Halloween, you know? I'm not sure I'm down with all the spooky stuff again yet, but thank you for the pumpkins. Mine are all carved up now and it's like having a little bit of home.


I'm also going to start a little support group for those of us who died back home, or know that we die at home. Sunday nights, if that works? You don't have to sign up. If there's no one using the commons in 501 tonight, the first Life Support meeting is going to start tonight at 7:30. The only thing I ask is that you only attend if you died at home or know that you die at home and need help coping, and we're reserving the right to turn people away if they make other members of the group uncomfortable.
