The only other person who'd ever seemed to make space for her was Trish. That was different. They were family, if not because of their bond then legally. A sister being a roommate wasn't the same as being close with someone like Luke. As prickly as she was (really, she'd put your eye out just with her attitude), Jessica found herself readily fitting herself up against Luke's side like she was supposed to be there.
Things just didn't work very well for her as a rule, so she tried not to think too hard about it. It was like having a microwave that made grinding noises for years, finally replacing it with a new one and getting used to the silence. If you noticed the lack of noise, it was just loud and weird.
"Aren't Amazons supposed to be Greek? Tan? I'd never hack it." Jessica was scooted up as far as she comfortably could be while still laying on his chest, so that she could have the blanket up far enough to keep Luke warm without having to cover her head in the process. "Thank you for not being ten years old right now. I'm sure you were a cute kid, but I like you full-size."
