When I was a young child, my mother did a very un-queenly thing. She made my dolls -- and later my sister Anna's -- clothes. Little gowns and everyday dresses, and riding habits, and hats. She taught me to sew by having me make a small quilt for my doll's bed, and although when I was older I graduated to embroidery a skill like real sewing doesn't leave you. I like having been taught a skill that is turning out to be valuable here, even if I've needed to be taught how to use the sewing machines.
Of course, some of the clothing that has been gifted to us can be considered somehwat impractical, but we'll find a use for it. In any case, we're going to be several days sorting through it all. If there is anything in particular that you are in need of, let us know so that we can make sure that it's readily accessible.
