WHO: Lily Luna Potter & Albus Severus Potter (and Helena Potter!)
WHEN: Lily Luna's arrival
WHERE: Medical!
WHAT: Family Reunion!
WARNINGS: Fluff? Fluff.
STATUS: In Progress!
Albus had been a member of the community of Mountain Weather for an estimated five months by this point in time. Reserved as he was, he kept a tight lid on his inner thoughts and emotions, with his handful of exceptions. He spoke his actual feelings, on occasion, in the presence of Clara and MJ; but even those were limited to when he felt an absolute need. He'd begun trying harder, to include his family, with his very first few efforts being shared with his Grandfather, James. More recently, his whole life had been placed on display in an all too public argument with his parents, that had left him feeling drained and sour and, at the end of it all, apologetic.
And yet, through out all of this, he felt as though he'd done a rather decent job of maintaining his heartache behind a stone exterior. He didn't speak much about Helena. Yes, the argument had largely been about the way he raised his little girl, but it hadn't tapped into how greatly he missed his daughter. Prior to Mountain Weather, he had shared custody of her with Wendy, getting time with her based on an agreed upon schedule. Children didn't develop according to schedules. He might have been scheduled to see her every other weekend but that didn't mean she would wait for him to suddenly display her new favorite word or to change her favorite color from green to purple. So much could happen in a small time period and it had always been difficult to cope with for Albus.
He didn't like being away.
Five months without so much as a moment of her in his arms, cheeks pressed against neck as she resisted the urge to sleep, had been something short of torture for him. He didn't complain. He didn't see the purpose of complaining. Everyone in the little community had those they missed. What made him so special? What made him have a right to complain when others weren't even half as lucky as he was? He had family, after all, and he was learning to be glad of their presence.
It didn't change the fact that he'd been heartbroken without her all this time, so much so that he was barreling down the halls in an uncharacteristic way.
He was glad to see Lily again. He truly was, because he missed her as well as James, but she was going to just have to accept that she was on the back burner temporarily on the level of importance. As he shoved open the door, he spotted his sister, but his eyes fell quickly to the nearly three year old sitting on her lap.
She was so big.
His long, lanky legs that had rarely ever been used to the potential his genetics had allowed made it so he could bound the distance in a few paces. Arms reached out, scooping up Helena, and pulling her into an embrace as his eyes shut quickly. Albus never displayed affection, really, but here he was pressing kisses to the little girl's cheek, swallowing back a lump in his throat.
It took him a few moments to finally open his eyes again, and he looked over Helena's shoulder, to Lily. "Lils," he whispered, making sure she knew he was glad to see her as well, for he truly was. A hand shifted, reaching out to her to take hold of hers.
