Charlie didn't mind the job assignment he had been given upon his arrival at Mount Weather. Though he'd have preferred the company of dragons, he didn't mind tending to the needs of sheep, cattle, and what other live stock the facility was able to round up. He almost felt at home when he was taking care of the chores. After all, he had been responsible for checking on water sources, ensuring feeding was being handled, and that health was still acceptable in all of the dragons on the reservation. It was essentially the same thing here. The only major difference was that he couldn't exactly encourage one of his sheep to leap into the air and fly.
He had a canvas bag of feed tossed around his shoulders, occasionally sticking his hand in to yank out specks of corn, which he scattered about for the chickens that were swarming near his feet. "There is plenty, Mates," he spoke, not really caring if they'd understand him or not. As he went to grab another handful, he lifted his head, noticing movement just near the edge of the coop.
"Someone there?" He called out. With all of the disappearances as of late, it didn't hurt to be on guard. He'd taken to strapping his wand on his hip just in case something were to happen. He squinted his eyes and bent down some, so that he could see between the uneven planks of wood. Spotting a pair of eyes, he gave a light smile. "No need to hide, little one," he then said, standing fully. In a few swift steps, he was over by the gate, leaning forward against it to look down at the very small little boy.
"You shouldn't be out here by yourself, you know."
His eyes cast up, scanning the nearby areas. No one seemed to notice the child. They were all focused on their jobs. Frowning, he put his hand on the edge of the wood, using it to give him enough momentum to leap over the side of the fence. "I'll show you all the chickens you want but how about we find your Mum or Dad first, yeah?" Merlin, he hoped the kid had a parent here. He knew some of the children did not and that worried him sick, if he was honest.
