Sometimes one needs to contemplate a work of art multiple times before one is able to able to appreciate it, one way or another. That it speaks to you in some way is good, I think.
Marianne is very young and idealistic. Through her experience with Mr. Willoughby, she will become a better person. She will become one who does not follow the first of her heart's whims, and be better able to take her place amongst the society in which she belongs.
In any case, there isn't quite wild beasts for young ladies to slay, and for her to do so would be quite inappropriate.
