This had been one hell of a twenty-four hours. More than once, Steve wondered if he shouldn't have made time to see Henry last night, more immediately after their conversation on the network. If he'd only given Henry the time, he might not have spent the rest of the night and all of the next day thinking about it and wondering if Henry was telling the truth and, if he was, what else was in there. He suspected, however, that meeting Henry would only leave him with more questions than answers. The uncertainty ate away at him. Everywhere he went, Steve searched for something that was familiar - and not because he'd spent the last few years of his life living in Storybrooke. If what Henry said was true, then every other person he saw was missing something in their lives, too. Every other person had another life they were supposed to be leading instead of this one. If he was some sort of superhero, who was everyone else supposed to be? He kept telling himself if Henry was telling the truth, but the more he thought about it, the less likely it seemed that Henry was lying. Henry was an odd kid, but he was a good kid. He wasn't trouble like some of the other ones in town. Steve steeled himself as he looked up at the sign outside of Granny's. This day was different, and not just because of what Henry had told him. Everything about the town looked different now. Steve pushed that from his mind and opened the door. Henry was easy to spot, and though he didn't feel cheerful, Steve forced a smile onto his face and waved. "Hey, Henry." |
