Who: Finn and Katrina Magby (Finnick Odair and Katniss Everdeen)
When: This morning
Where: ... a graveyard
What: Finn and Katrina visit Lynn's (Mags') grave
Rating: Low
It felt like an ordinary, sunny day. It took a few moments after Katrina’s eyes opened to remember that it wasn’t quite like any other day. That the day they’d both been trying to avoid thinking about was finally here, and they had to deal with it.
Finn wasn’t there, predictably. He liked to get up and run most days, and today seemed like a more likely day than most for him to need that outlet. She got up, dressed quickly, and grabbed a couple of apples from the kitchen before leaving the house. She knew where he’d be, and knew that he shouldn’t be there alone, even though he might think that he should.
On the way to the cemetery, she stopped briefly at the shop. She wasn’t working this morning, but there was a bouquet there she’d arranged the day before: sunflowers, which had been Lynn’s favorite, surrounded by blue hyacinth. With the flowers in hand and the apples in her pocket, she headed towards the cemetery.
He was there, as she’d known he would be, standing in front of the grave. She approached him quietly, although purposefully not silently, so that he would be able to hear her coming. She arrived at his side, her arm brushing against his as she moved past him and bent down to place the flowers on the ground beside the headstone. Then she straightened up and moved back to stand beside him, taking his hand in hers.
“Thought I might find you here,” she murmured, barely above a whisper.

Finni had gone for his usual morning run, although he might have pushed himself a little harder and faster than usual. He typically tried to take more of a leisurely jog, but it was hard for him to focus this morning, and the only way he seemed to capable of doing that was by forcing himself to be aware of his own discomfort -- the way his heart felt like it was going to pound out of his chest and the way that he was gasping for breaths by the time he was done.
Still, none of that seemed to make any difference when he arrived in front of Lynn's grave.
A year, and the pain had only abated somewhat. It wasn't really that the pain had lessened as it was that he had been forced to accept that she wasn't coming back and that everything in his life, from this point forward, were things he couldn't share with her. And that was what was odd about it all, really. Even now, he would have a fleeting thought where he would want to share something with Lynn, and would have to remind himself that that couldn't happen any longer.
He was at a bit of a loss for what he was supposed to do on this day in particular. There had been so many things to take care of, so many outlined rituals, for when Lynn had actually died. But no one said what you were supposed to do on the anniversary of the death of the woman who had raised you.
So, he was relieved when Katrina showed up. He was feeling a bit maudlin, and he was certain that Lynn would want them to do something cheerier for her.
"Hey," Finn answered, wrapping an arm around loosely around her.
