Rachel. She's great. I hadn't talked to anyone about what happened to me, getting kidnapped and... okay, I don't know how to explain it without telling you the whole story. A while ago, I went through what we - inhumans - call terrigenisis. A small percent of the population carries specific DNA that has been passed down through generations, altered a very long time ago by an alien race. It does nothing unless we undergo a specific process to activate our abilities. HYDRA wanted to learn more about it, so they took me, experimented on me. I hadn't really faced that at all. That's part of why Ward was such a sensitive subject for me, on a personal level. The people he worked for were going to use my people for their own gains, and he was part of it.
And like you said, there was no arguing with him since he can't see any other side. He doesn't care. The first day I got here, he tried to talk to me about HYDRA and the kinds of people who end up working for them, with no consideration for what I'd been through. He told me he had no sympathy. I know he had a tough life, but a lot of people have, and they don't end up treating other people the way he did. He liked to remind everyone that I'm not good enough for Daisy and that I have an anger problem, but he never knew me.
I've spiraled a couple times. It's hard, but it taught me a lot about who I am. I think the same's true for you. To be able to go through what you've been through and come out on the other side is a big accomplishment. And what you've done here for us means a lot. Having a support system of people who've been there too, and who understand, that's priceless.
