There are days I wish not only we had the pleasure of Assassin Auditore's company, but that we would be joined by Assassin Ibn-La'Ahad. What I could learn from Altaïr could far surpass any of my teachings in England."Man seeks dominion over all that he encounters. I suppose it is a natural tendency for us to aspire towards mastery of our surroundings. But this should not include other human beings. Every day more and more are pressed into service – by deception or by force. Others, though not so firmly imprisoned, are made to feel as if their lives are worthless. I have seen the ways in which men persecute women. Heard the cruel words hurled at those who come here from other lands. Watched as those who believe or act differently are made to suffer..."
It is of no doubt that our arrival here brings nothing but bad tidings to the world around us. And most who come do nothing to minimize that danger. Magic thrown about without thinking of consequence, interference and destruction worse for which this land could see. Now we come upon bloody battle scenes with corpses lying about and we work to recover bodies yet push aside the real dangers. Why are there so few involved in this?
Why must the safety of those who cannot protect themselves always fall to just a few? Here we are given tasks and put to work and told to grunt and accept our lot in life, paying no mind to the fact that we could do so very much for the world at large. A world that still needs to recover and rebuild. We are sitting ducks not allowed to question or correct without ruffling feathers of those above. But held deeply in check by morals of multiple worlds with expectations that most are unaware of. You cannot expect people will toe in line forever as you force governance and laws on them that they did not vote or agree on. That, in itself, lends to corruption in the ranks and a desire to break free.
Freedom is deserved by all. Treat your people as you wish to be treated in their position, and do not wildly assume that they owe you anything at all. It could crumble and fall at a moment's notice.
I haven't the faintest how much you know, but if it's less than me, then it is likely nothing at all. Keep an open eye when you venture outside of the mountain, brother.
I'll be leaving today for several hours to bring back the bodies of those deceased in a battle that took place outside walls yesterday. Try to stay out of trouble?
