[action thread] Dance Off!
Who: Max & Kika
What: a Dance Off!
Where: astronomy tower (wherever that is :D)
When: whenever wherever, we're born to be together~
Warnings: .....max & kika dancing.

Max was fully aware that he wasn't exactly what anyone would call an expert when it came to dancing. Far from it, in fact. He had a tendancy to flail a lot and jump around. In fact, whenever he danced back home his brothers would call him Bunny Foo Foo. It might have been a little offputting if he hadn't been Max. He was used to other people teasing him about one thing or another, so what different did it make if they laughed at his dancing, too?

But it had been Kika, and Kika really couldn't talk, the gangly bastard.

And so, the occasion had obviously called for a dance-off. The conditions had been set and the location of the battle had been settled upon. Any other people might have laughed this off, but not them. This was serious. This was pride on the line.

That, and there really wasn't much else to do, damn it.

Max bent down and pressed the play button the boombox. And then it began.

Kika hadn't meant to start it! He totally hadn't meant to start anything. That was his story, and he was totally going to tell Commander Mom this if he and Max got in trouble -- and it was only a matter of time -- for holding an impromtu dance competition in the observatory when they were supposed to be in BED.

"What if we get caught?" Kika had said, setting down the stack of CDs. But all the same, he had turned on his mp3 player. This wasn't like the time the power went out and he and Max could play Queen for 54i56 million hours with no one the wiser. "We're supposed to be in bed!"

But by then the competition had begun.

And backing down from challenges was, thanks to Kika's early conditioning by Mom and Dad, impossible. Somewhere in his genes was a strand of DNA that read: MUST ALWAYS ACCEPT CHALLENGES.

So here he was in the observatory, watching his crazy gangly limbed friend pull the first moves -- punching the air like a drunken fist fighter?

He responded, trying not to laugh. "I see your air punching, and raise you a gorilla dance." He demonstrated. After all, it's not like either of them could dance.

Bed? PFT. Where was Kika's wild sense of adventure? Where was Kika's adoration for this primal form of musical interpretation?

"We won't get caught, man!" Well, they might, but if they did, it would be worth it. Music always was.

Maybe Max couldn't dance, but that didn't mean he didn't enjoy it to the fullest. There was something about the way that music ran through him...his limbs couldn't stay still. As the song changed, Max immediately recognized the beginning chords. He let out a little growl of excitement and put his hands in air guitar position.

"If you want bloooooood, YOU GOT IT."

[ ooc: kika's the one in black, max is the one with longer hair. ♥ ]

"We will get caught if you yell any louder, Max," Kika said, eyes involuntarily shifting. But no one else was here; the door was locked. It was just them. Just Kika, Max, and the music.

And their graceful like monkey dance moves. "Pft, Blood this!"

But maybe they could dance more quietly. Like so. "Hey, it's a good thing Setsuki isn't here to listen to us make fools of ourselves."

Caught...for some reason that seemed unlikely. This place was so big, so isolated and silent. It seemed so unlikely that there was anyone else in this entire station, much less the rest of the world. And so continued to dance.

And Max was so going to win. Not that he was any less clubfooted than Kika was; but because he had stamina all the way to the fucking moon. Dancing stamina, anyway.

And of course Kika needed to bring up the love of his life. He threw Kika a glare as he tried a little Irish gig kind of move into the mix (just for kicks). "Setsuki's blind, man. For all she knows, I am a fantastic dancer. Hey, think she'd let me take her dancing?" Probably not, but, hey, if he brought her pie, maybe it would work.

"Maybe," Kika answered thoughtfully, "If you take her somewhere private. somewhere that's not a club full of, you know, mooshers." he winced at the thought of Setsuki in a mosh pit.

"You are absolutely not allowed to take her a club, but you could do something like this with her. Seriously, you have to be careful with her."

Kika spun, echoed the jig segued into headbanging, to make his point.

Whatever that point was.

Ah, music, taking away rational thought.

The songs were slowly getting harder. Although gypsy punk was not considered 'hard' in a general sense, really. It did give Max an opportunity to pull several out-there dance moves. What, did the 1960s come back? What was this, the robot? Steamrollers?! DISCO?

Yeah, Max and Kika were all about ruining perfectly respectable dance moves. At least Max wasn't a fat girl in a shirt covered in large red flowers. There was always silver lining.

"What? I have to. I mean the music...it's all moshy. She'll enjoy herself. I get the feeling she's good at punchin' people, you know?"

Setsuki never really brought 'careful' to mind. Despite her blindness, there was a self-sufficiency to her that seemed beyond even Max's not-quite-blind capabilities. She'd lasted this long without killing herself; Max didn't feel he had the rest to insult her by babying her. Or imagining babying her, because it wasn't as if they'd done a whole lot together yet, as a rule.

Maybe he would ask if he could take her to a club, just to contradict Kika. "It's not like I'd through her into a pit, man. I'd teach her basic moshpit etiquette. Arm up if you're on the outside. Inside, push the fuck out of everyone.

"NOW, KIKA, FOOTFIVE!"

Though there were a few close calls, they managed to avoid tripping each other.

"She is good at punching people," Kika said, in the middle of a step. "But it takes a lot to get her furious. Like that one time... uh, you don't want to hear about it. Really. Anyway she's a naturally laid back person but, a naturally laid person with REFLEXES, so in a concert scenario I shudder to imagine what what would happen if some guy poked her in the face."

"Plus, Hayate would kill us all," he added.

"Now, for the disco!

Max did want to hear about it, but it seemed Kika didn't really wish to talk about it.

And it was good to hear that she could protect herself. Max wasn't sure he could manage self-defense, much less defense on her part. Anyway, he could imagine that fury if anyone hurt those that are important to her in her life. She seemed protective and sensitive, in that way, at least. It was touching.

"Hayate?"

Disco? Pft.

Spinning.
