Where did you hear about us: http://asylums.insanejournal.com/hprpsearch/

Why did you apply to Tempus Fugit, and what do you feel you can bring to the game?: I am without a journal RP right now, and the concept of this RP is highly appealing for my nearly-muggle wizard. I can RP well, though I haven’t noted that you are for lack of good RPers. I’m a guy, and play guy characters… which I have come to understand is mildly sought.

Previous RP experience: Mostly non-HP, but I am no stranger to journal based games or the HP world.

Character Information

Name: Gilroy Magnus
Age: 22
Birthday: 12/23/1978
PB: Sean Patrick Flannery
Wand: 6 ¼” Dogwood, Yuan-te Sinew, Yuan-te are a very resilient race that rarely interact with humanity, as they tend to remain in the black forests of Germany. Their bodies are known to be resistant to magic, like the hide of a dragon, though they share the size of humans. This particular wand has been waiting over seven hundred years for its wielder. He found it, not knowing what it was, after finding a secret room in Schloss Hohenschwangau.

Family:
Parents:
Adoptive: Major General Fitzroy Magnus, 67 (father) and Mallory Halifax Magnus, 63 (mother)
Blood: Miles Helling, 54 (father) and Diana Lilenthal Helling, 52 (mother)
Siblings: Lt. Commander Elroy Magnus, 27 (brother)(Currently stationed in Kosovo)
Family interactions:
Father: Gilroy gets along very well with his adoptive father, having known nothing other than this man to be his father. Gen. Magnus took an interest in Gilroy since he was young, and taught the child and young man as much of war and politics as the younger Magnus could learn. Gilroy looks up to his father, and believes the man to be a genius. He never begrudged his father for the nights, weeks, and months he wouldn’t be able to come home.
Mother: Gilroy’s mother had a more consistent role in Gilroy’s life. She taught him of God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit. He keeps pleasant and proper relations with his mother, as the most remarkable part of their relationship was that there was little remarkable about it.
Brother: Gilroy’s older brother is a full four years older, and is also adopted. He looks nothing like his parents, and figured out that he was adopted on his own. Gil and El rarely speak with one another, because of their age difference. Elroy joined the military as soon as he could, and as such he spent little time around the Magnus household. The two were violent when left alone, often fighting and wrestling… and Gil didn’t lose every fight, as one would expect of the younger child.

Occupation: Curator at The British Museum, both Muggle and Wizard sides
http://www.britishmuseum.org/default.aspx
Residence: London
Financial status: Gained no reparations for the War, since he wasn’t technically a part of it.
Political views: “Liberal” Intergrationist – He doesn’t actually believe that allowing Muggles into wizarding society should be a sudden thing, but that Muggles shouldn’t just be led into the society by Wizards… instead they should be given control and power as well. He is not so foolish to believe that the change should be immediate.
Blood Status: Muggleborn
Sexuality: Bi - Not actively looking for a real relationship

Physical description

Height: 5’10”
Weight: 165 lbs
Distinguishing marks: His hair changes almost weekly from ear length and bright orange to short and dark brown.
Appearance: For a wizard and a bookish curator, he is incredibly fit. A muggle workout regimen is repeated every morning before he proceeds with the day. He is narrow in the face, like his skull had been stretched slightly. A bump along the bridge of his nose suggests that it had seen a rougher time at least once. He tends to avoid most wizard clothes, instead preferring normal pants and shirts that allow him to reach across a display without displacing artifacts with wide dangling sleeves. He has been known to wear a Fedora, but always has a small knife, a lighter, and that trusty wand on his person. He prefers to wear earth tones to most other colors.
Personality: He is extremely confident in himself and his own decisions. His mind is near completely dictated by logic and planning. This confidence often produces an adamant point of view, but is not supported by a loud voice or an overbearing nature to truly make it effective. Emotion very rarely graces the fringes of his mind, a product of overly zealous logic. He is extremely intelligent, in no small part due to his unique magic and he tends to flaunt this intelligence.

History
(I find a timeline is often useful with these things.)
12/23/1978: Born on British soil in Hohne, Germany.
2/4/1979: The child is adopted and officially renamed to Gilroy Magnus by the military Magnus family. Throughout his young life, he would be moved from one location to another as his father was deployed accordingly.
(sometime)1983: Began Muggle preschooling. Quickly came to find that he had a knack for learning. He was also pushed into martial arts at this young age, and found that his knack for learning was also a knack for copying the physical movements of others.
(sometime)1987: During a brief time spent in Iraq prior to the Persian Gulf war, he was kidnapped by insurgents. This marked the first documented use of magic by the young Gilroy Magnus, who was able to become invisible and escape from the ensuing firefight between insurgents and the military to safety.
1988–1996: Attended a number of schools throughout the world, and became adept in numerous languages, cultures, and histories. He began to get his sights set on college and becoming an anthropologist. During this time, he began work on a number of different sports, including Rugby, Football (soccer), Fencing, and Martial Arts. The constant moving forced him to be adaptable in each of these physical endeavors, as no two places tended to have exactly the same playing style or tactics.
4/15/1993: One cool spring day he went on a tour of Schloss Hohenschwangau during one of his father’s trips to Germany. While the tour waned on, he grew distracted by an inconsistency in a stone wall, and while he was not normally one to worry over oddly placed bricks, he felt something in his gut incline him to investigate. He hung back as the tour went on, and pushed on the out of place brick, and found that not only was it loose, but it was pushed back into the wall easily. Almost immediately he noticed that what he felt with his hand was not what he saw, as his hand now appeared to be through the brick. A quick glance for witnesses and he realized he was all alone. The young Gilroy pushed further, and found what had once been a hard brick wall was now completely gone, though the appearance of a brick wall remained… and that he could walk straight through the new invisible opening to find a small chamber. From this side, he could not see the brick wall, but rather just an opening. It had been an illusion, and the brick had receded when he pushed against the loose stone.

As he began to look around the small chamber, he found what appeared to be the skeletal remains of a human attempting to crawl up an alter. Beside this human was a stick… Dogwood, 6 ¼”, rigid. Without thinking, Gilroy snatched it up, and left to catch up with the tour… planning on returning later to further investigate the mysterious room. Sadly, he never got the chance.
9/13/1996: He entered into a tournament of martial arts. It was a regional deal, with the idea to find one who could go on to an international competition and be a good representation of the UK. He won. Unfortunately, he was whisked away by Ministry of Magic officials directly after the tournament, and was charged with using magic in front of Muggles, something he had never considered before. He was to remain in Wizard London until the hearing
10/10/1996: He was exonerated of all charges after a lengthy court battle.
Late1996 – early 1997: Needless to say, his first foray into the magical world was not a pleasant one, and as the year turned, he found that he would be required to take up a job in the wizarding world and could no longer freely enter the Muggle world. He did find a job where he could at least pretend to be a Muggle most of the time, in the British Museum. Working there allowed him to pursue a degree while still staying somewhat in the wizarding world by working with the Wizard British Museum that was connected to and below the Muggle Museum.
1997–1998: During the coming of the war, he requested to be transferred to field work. He had hoped that he could become lost in a dig somewhere in India, and wouldn’t be bothered by the changing political climate. He was wrong. His attempt was denied, and he was forced to go into hiding. He fought to defend himself, and those he felt he could reasonably help.
Late 1999 – present: After the fall of the Usurper, he returned to his job at the British Museum, and continued his study and work.

Plotting

Short and long term goals:
Short: He really wants to meet more wizards so that he could learn of them from something other than history books.
Long: He’d really like to unlock what it is about himself that allows him to be considered a “wizard” even though he was passed over for admittance to Hogwarts. He would also like to help form a better relationship between Muggles and Wizards, though does not believe that the current path (Leading Muggles into the wizard world) is wise, and that integration would likely be easier by leading Wizards into the Muggle world. He also wants to get enough money to begin traveling the world again.

Feelings about the post-war world?: He has been in the wizarding world for a few years now, but he never formed an opinion of the pre-war world, and thus has nothing to compare his view of the post-war Wizarding World against. He does dislike wizard culture so far when compared to other cultures he’s been a part of.

Please provide us with role playing sample:
Well, he was dressed nicely, alone, standing at the stone wall, in an alleyway not far from British Museum. The Museum was on high alert as word of an important guest coming through had infiltrated their ranks. Most of the curators had gone to the displays that they specialized in and worked over the most. Gil, however, had no one specialization. So here he was, standing in an alleyway, waiting to open the door for this very important guest. His mind wandered, considering each in turn; rules of Quidditch, Muggle responses to Magic, Wand cores, Indian Poetry, and finally a man who had turned down this very alleyway. It was hard to discern the features of this man, except that he was a man. Features slowly unveiled themselves as the man walked closer: Muggle clothes, no wand, a sort of confusion slapped across his face as to why he was coming down this very alleyway, and Gil slowly made the realization as to who this man was.

“Prime Minister!”

It was then he noticed another behind him. A flaming red headed young man that –(insert description from Ron-mun)-.
