Player Information
Name: Kim

Age(must be 18+): 18
IM screen names: brownielav
Email: hermyjean@gmail.com

Where did you hear about us?: Originally from Alpha and Kimberly

Why did you apply to Tempus Fugit, and what do you feel you can bring to the game?: I am applying to Tempus Fugit because it is a growing game that I feel will last a long time. The players are committed to their characters and to developing story lines. I feel that I can bring a new point of view to the game with the addition of a female Slytherin character. This could add more drama and new plots.

Previous RP experience: I have played for a few years. I most recently have been in FI as Lavender Brown and am playing for Tempus Fugit as Hermione Granger.

Character Information

Name of character you are applying for: Astoria Venita Greengrass

Age of character you are applying for(physical age, if one of the resurrected): 19

Birthday: 26 November, 1982

PB: Taylor Momsen

Wand: Cherry wood, 9.5 inches, stiff and unyielding.

House at Hogwarts: Slytherin

Family
Parents: Alaric Greengrass and Regina Yaxley Greengrass.
Siblings: Astoria has one older sibling, Daphne.
Family interactions (how does your character get along with his/her family members?): Astoria is the second child born to the Greengrass family and as such, was babied quite a bit. Some might say she is a little spoiled but that does not mean the Greengrasses did not expect certain things of her. For instance, Astoria (as well as her sister) was always taught to be well mannered, responsible, and polite to those with pure blood. Astoria followed these lessons for quite a while until she entered Hogwarts. While at Hogwarts, Astoria found that she preferred being rebellious to being an exact replica of Daphne.
Astoria’s parents received quite a few letters from professors and Headmaster alike telling them of their daughter’s antics and poor marks. Alaric and Regina were surprised, to say the least, and hoped that she would simply grow out of it. Perhaps Astoria’s personality was a fluke or the result of a bad influence at school. Either way, she was still their baby and Daphne could always keep an eye out for Astoria and lead her in the right direction.
Daphne did try to keep an eye out for Astoria, but like her parents and older sister, Astoria was resourceful and managed to weasel her way out from under Daphne’s nose. She never resented Daphne but rather her parents. They just did not understand her and probably never would. Astoria still loves her parents and enjoys seeing them, but does feel that she is different from them. They expect her to be well connected with pureblood families and eventually marry into one, considering that the Greengrasses do not have a son with which to carry on the family name. Astoria feels that carrying on the tradition of pureblood lineage is important but hardly wishes to marry. This has caused some tensions between her and her parents that will most likely never be resolved. Astoria feels bad but comforts herself with the fact that her parents will always have Daphne to follow the rules.

Occupation: Astoria is not currently employed. She very recently passed her N.E.W.T.s and is biding her time until something interests her.
Residence: A flat in Hogsmeade.
Financial status: Plentiful. Her parents give her a monthly allowance that pays for rent, clothing, food and often alcohol.

Political views: Astoria is not particularly sure where her loyalties lie. She does believe in pureblood supremacy but never supported Voldemort or his followers. However, she never supported Potter and his vapid friends either. She is indifferent toward the current Minister of Magic. If the attacks on the wizarding world have ended, then he’s all right by her. The idea of integrating muggles into their world makes her sick, though. It is not right by any means and Astoria hopes that it is merely a ploy conjured by the Ministry to garner support and will not come to fruition.

Blood Status: Pureblood, nothing less.

Sexuality (Please note, if you are playing a pureblood character who is also gay/bisexual, there are guidelines): Astoria is heterosexual in the worst way. She toyed with many boys in her year at Hogwarts but never actually committed to any of them. Astoria couldn’t help it if they were practically begging her to snog them. She has never felt love and never intends to.

Physical description

Height: 5’6’’
Weight: 130 lbs
Distinguishing marks: Astoria has small, plump lips and a plain bone structure. Her eyes are the one feature she is proud of. They are slightly hooded, often giving off a sexual allure that Astoria uses to her advantage.

Give us a description of your character's appearance: With long hair that is platinum blonde, Astoria is not what one would call pretty, but gorgeous. She has a slender body, an ample chest, and her bone structure is average. Astoria may look like the girl next door, but she’s not. She loves to wear heavy eyeliner and clothing that most parents would not approve of.

Give us a description of your character's personality (for example, are they a confident person? Do they speak their mind? What are their flaws and good points? We want to know that you have a good understanding of your character, so feel free to use examples and make it as in depth as possible): Astoria Greengrass loves to rebel. When she was little, she often followed Daphne around like a shadow as, most of the time, she was the only other person in the house Astoria could play with. Astoria grew to be more and more like her sister, without even realizing it. It wasn’t until she went to Hogwarts that the reality of how similar she and Daphne were hit her like a ton of bricks. This was made even more clear by her professors and peers who constantly compared Astoria to Daphne. Despite the fact that Astoria loved her sister dearly, she began to dislike not being her own person. She somehow decided that being the complete opposite of Daphne would solve everything.
As a result, Astoria is very rebellious. She has trouble committing to things and making permanent decisions. She has never been in a serious relationship, mostly due to the fact that Astoria knew it was what her parents would want. In spite of not wanting to be like Daphne, Astoria’s older sister is her only true friend. They grew up together and know each other best. Besides, Daphne only ever had good intentions toward Astoria and still watches out for her to this day.
Astoria was never one to study and is not book smart but she is quick tongued and knows how to manipulate a situation to her advantage. She has people smarts and is able to adapt to any situation, hence she attained the skill of hiding her feelings rather easily. Whenever her parents would show disappointment in her marks or behavior, Astoria would adopt a bored expression when really she felt terrible.

History
Please give us a brief history of what happened to your character past canon to bring them to this point. if playing an OC, please give a much longer history to show how your character fits into this world. Astoria grew up as the sidekick to her older sister Daphne. She always wanted to be involved in whatever Daphne was doing. Astoria even became friends with many of Daphne’s playmates, always feeling like she was a genuine part of the group.
Astoria was expected, like Daphne was, to begin her studies at the age of three. While Astoria could remember Daphne excelling at these activities, Astoria herself had trouble with them. She did not quite understand the concept of math nor was she very fond of reading. This may have been why Astoria desired to be just like her sister when she was young, because she hoped to be as skilled.
When Daphne went away to Hogwarts, Astoria was essentially left alone. She longed to hear about Daphne’s adventures and receiving her sister’s letters was often the highlight of her week.
After what seemed like an eternity, Astoria was finally able to attend Hogwarts with her sister Daphne. It was then that Astoria came to realize how similar she was to her older sister and that perhaps it wasn’t a good thing. She wasn’t her own person and that upset her quite a bit. Astoria decided she would not be like Daphne and take a different path through life. She knew that Daphne wondered at her sudden change in behavior as did her parents, but Astoria desperately wished to be different and never thought about how it would make others feel.
When the war came about, Astoria was not involved any further than she had to be. She was often ushered around by professors along with her fellow classmates, who were all in a constant state of fear and confusion. When it was over, Astoria was so relieved to find that her entire family had made it through unscathed. Her pranks seemed rather petty after the gravity of war and Astoria dropped most of them to focus on her studies. It took her two and a half years but she finally managed to study a bit and pass her N.E.W.T.s.
After living at home for some time after the war, Astoria was given permission by her parents to move out. She found a flat in Hogsmeade, bought it with her parents’ money and has been living there ever since.
Astoria still likes to feel rebellious but does it in a different way, mostly by going from one bar to the next, meeting new people and shagging new guys. She does not care much about her reputation now that she is living on her own because she has nobody to defend it to, except maybe Daphne.

Resurrected Characters (please ignore if not applicable to your character)

If you are applying for someone who is still alive at the end of the series, and would like them to be considered for death and resurrection, please explain why:

If your character is one of the resurrected, what is their last memory and why have they returned at their particular age?:

Each person who returns from the dead using the magic of the resurrection stone must have a reason to come back. Not only would the character want to return, they must be needed by someone for something. Why have they been brought back? Who wanted them to return? Why?

Plotting

What short and long term goals do you have for your character?:
Short term: I would like Astoria to reconnect with some Slytherins and perhaps meet some of the resurrected characters.
Long term: I want Astoria to find a job and perhaps get involved in a relationship, something she is not used to.

How does your character feel about the post-war world? (The Wizarding Community becoming more open to muggles, captured Death Eaters receiving the kiss, or being stripped of their wealth and property for lesser offences): As stated earlier, Astoria cannot bear the thought of muggles being integrated into the wizarding community. The wizarding community is for wizards only. Would muggles or wizards benefit from this change? Not at all. As for Death Eaters receiving the kiss, Astoria is vehemently opposed. She is familiar with the families of the Death Eaters and even if she never approved of Voldemort’s following, it is quite painful to watch wives and children be deprived of a family member. Considering Astoria’s only source of income is from her parents, she certainly hopes they are not stripped of their wealth or property. Of course, they were never directly involved in Death Eater activity so Astoria need not worry.

Now that we are familiar with your characterization, please provide us with role playing sample so that we can get an idea of your writing style.

Be sure to write in the third person, and provide us with a new sample relevant to the game.

Writing Sample

Astoria wrinkled her nose as she entered the Leaky Cauldron. Normally she frequented higher end bars with a dance floor and some techno playing in the background, but tonight she just wanted a drink.

Her mother had been on her case about not having a job, again. Astoria hated it when her parents pressured her to do something she clearly had no intention of doing. This often led to a bottle of vodka, sex with a strange man and no change in her habits whatsoever.

The barstools were old and the one Astoria chose to sit on was a bit rickety. She made a face when she felt something sticky on the countertop. Fortunately, there was an unreasonably handsome man seated next to her.

“Hi,” she said, flashing a flirtatious smile. With some luck, this guy would be drunk enough to go home with her where she would let out all of her frustrations by sleeping with him. Daphne would be shaking her head if she knew, Astoria thought, smirking to herself.
