Where did you hear about us?: You!
Why did you apply to Tempus Fugit, and what do you feel you can bring to the game?: I’m applying because I like the players and I feel I can bring constant activity and a different point of view. I know you guys would prefer more living characters but there's no one else I'd rather play. I do promise however that if I get Lily I'll wait a bit before bringing her back to life.
Previous RP experience: Yes. Lots of Forum rping (original games), FI (as Daphne Greengrass and Tonks), TF as Tonks, and another HP based game as original characters.
Character Information
Name of character you are applying for: : Lilian (Lily) Rose Evans (Potter?)
Age of character you are applying for(physical age, if one of the resurrected): 17
Birthday: January 30th, 1960
PB: Amber Tamblyn
Wand: Willow, 10 1/4", swishy
House at Hogwarts: Gryffindor
Family Parents: Veronica Evans (deceased) and Zachary Evans (deceased) Siblings: Petunia (Evans) Dursley Family interactions: Lily and Petunia were extremely close when they were young. They’d do everything together. It was like having a best friend instead of having an older sister. But when Lily received her letter from Hogwarts things changed. Lily and Petunia tried so hard to get Petunia to be able to go, Lily helping her sister write the letter to Dumbledore, but to no avail. Petunia hated the fact that Lily was special and couldn’t be special with her. Soon after Lily started at Hogwarts, Petunia’s attitude toward her did a 180. It hurt Lily deeply that Petunia started to say mean things to her and embarrass her in front of her friends. To the point that Lily had to start to go over her friends’ houses instead of inviting anyone over. At the best of times, Lily and Petunia’s relationship strained at best. On the other hand, Lily’s parents adored her and the fact that she was a witch. They were always proud of their witch of a daughter and doted over her every need. She was her father’s little angel and her mother’s great joy. They loved being able to accompany Lily to Diagon Alley and all the things she was learning.
Occupation: None. She would still see herself as a student. Residence: She’d probably try and go back to her parents house, but it has been sold since their death. Financial status: N/A
Political views: Lily didn’t understand much about the Ministry and its politics when she was in Hogwarts, but she did understand that the ‘pureblood’ supremacy ideal was daft. She just wanted everyone to get along and stop all this ‘us and them’ nonsense. The Dark arts frightened her and with that Severus’ seemingly need to study it. In this ‘new’ world, she’s all for integrating the muggle world and wizarding world, but hates the fact that it still is an ‘us and them’ concept. The fact that it’s the ‘purebloods’ that are the ones being looked down on makes no difference to the base of the matter. People are too consumed with having to hate someone that they can’t see past their hate to who people are inside.
Blood Status: Muggle-born
Sexuality: Straight. She’s extremely picky on the boys she likes. She hates bullies and looks for more of an intellectual and emotional charm rather than a physical one.
Physical description
Height: 5’5 Weight: 8.6 stones (120 lbs) Distinguishing marks: Her green eyes are her most distinguishing trait, and her long red hair as a secondary.
Give us a description of your character's appearance: Lily has long, thick, dark red hair and brilliant green, almond shaped eyes. Her eyes show every emotion she feels, even if she tries to cover it up, and resonates with the fiery passion inside her. She’s constantly smiling when in the company of her friends. She usually wears ‘muggle’ clothes, but enjoys the look of wizarding robes and clothing. She finds their clothing to be quite intriguing. Usually she wore flared trousers and a blouse under her school robes.
Give us a description of your character's personality : Beneath the quiet exterior, Lily holds deep convictions about the weightier matters of life. She’s there for the cause, not for personal glory or political power. She sees herself as the champion of the oppressed and downtrodden. Often being found in the wake of an emergency, rescuing those who are in acute distress. She sometimes fantasizes about getting revenge on those who victimize the defenseless; finding the concept of 'poetic justice' appealing. She kind but knows how to ‘bite’ back.
One word to describe Lily is vivacious. She looks at life through rose-coloured glasses- which she literally has. She’s optimistic and loves life and the experiences in it. Even though Lily is usually in a happy state of mind, she is not easily led. Affable and sympathetic to most, Lily is rather selective about her close mates. A close friendship should be a symbiotic bond that transcends mere words. When she has that sort of friendship, she learns how to interrupt their nonverbal cues. More over she does have a lot of people who consider her a friend but not many she’d tell her secrets to.
The quest for more knowledge, the meaning of life, the philosophical questions—Lily’s mind is always occupied, and she looks forward to following through with an insight and do something. She likes looking at things from different perspectives. She’s about the relationships and possibilities and enjoys anything with deeper meaning that leaves her wondering; with more questions to ask and things to untangle. Inspiring others, helping them find their purpose or meaning, being a different kind of leader from what’s traditional—that’s really gratifying. The challenge is opening up people’s minds to have their own original thoughts. Lily acts as a listener and guide. She strives to learn more about everything, to the point that she went out of her way to learn spells that were never on the curriculum.
Lily believes herself a mystery to most people. They never really seem to understand her and part of her enjoys that. More often though, she longs to be understood. Whether it’s her sister’s hate over Lily’s gift for magic or the Slytherin’s hate over her muggle-born heritage, Lily views their reactions as just stemming from what the others don’t understand. One of the reasons why she always admired Remus was that she saw that mystery in his eyes that he was different and just wanted to be understood. She related to his bookish ways and want to just be excepted (as that’s all she ever wanted from her sister).
Lily approaches her day with a structured way of getting things accomplished. She is organized, thorough, and easy to get along with, pulling her own weight and eager to help out when called upon. But she’s not as outgoing or as critical as she may sometimes appear. She is an observer and tends to intuitively read people very quickly; though she keeps herself cautious as to not make assumptions. She watches for people who are interesting, makes some assessments about the situation, and then approaches them to engage in conversation. These actions happen quickly, but the process is there. A friendship comes best when it is worked to develop an investment. Lily quickly picks up on sincerity and withdraws if the person is superficial or obviously doesn’t care. When she sees people who abuse their power or won’t stand behind what they say, it that ticks her off. It’s about integrity.
Lily loves whatever gets people to think beyond the box, where people can function better because they are not afraid to say things they really feel. She has a lot of imagination and can easily amuse herself. Leisure-time pursuits for Lily are often solitary or involve the company of others who are particularly important to her. Doing her best thinking alone, Lily enjoys getting out in nature, being alone to go inside and center herself. She loves independent projects and reading and writing. She sees life in symbols. Symbols give her a focus. Sometimes the connections and perceptions in her mind are so abstract there are no words to explain. If it’s a strong feeling she’ll usually say something or explore where it’s coming from, but she will keep it to herself if she thinks people won’t understand. Informed decisions require lots of information and looking at a situation from as many different points of view as possible. In the end, though, she’ll always follow her instincts. Lily finds it amusing, the absurdity in everyday situations.
It is painful when there is conflict or when she offers advice and someone chooses not to take it. For Lily, she has to prepare herself for what is going to happen so she can either support people in a positive way or get away and wait out the inevitable heavy duty stuff before returning to fix things. Everything revolves around growth. Caring is about the ability to help others grow. What she brings is caring about people, not things. If people spent more time trying to understand each other’s point of view, to communicate more effectively, then they would grow. In an honest, open, sincere relationship, one can accomplish anything. Lily’s challenge is to create those kinds of relationships. She respects the person who is most willing to come forth and be an individual—to make the world a better place, or make a difference in a person’s life.
Brief History One summer day, Lily befriended an odd neighborhood boy by the name of Severus Snape. He was the one who told her that she was a witch and brought her into the wizarding world. They were inseparable. Petunia didn’t like him so much, but Lily kept her two best friends at her side, making sure everyone played together. At the age of eleven, Lily was accepted into Hogwarts. She tried to help her sister, Petunia, get in with her but she couldn’t. She was sorted into Gryffindor house. She loved studying and had a natural talent for Potions and Charms. This soon attracted the attention of Professor Slughorn, who invited her to join the Slug Club. Lily had become a prefect in her fifth year, along with Remus Lupin. She stayed best friends with Severus Snape, even though he was a Slytherin. She vocally stood up for him when he was being bullied by James Potter, whom she only addressed by his surname. Lily stuck by Severus side until he called her a "Mudblood". Such an insult could not be forgiven. It stung Lily deeply that he would turn on her so. She had to give up on their friendship after that. In her sixth year, school had started off like any other year. She kept to her studies and talking with her female mates. It wasn't until almost the end of the year that she found out her father was dying.
Resurrected Characters (please ignore if not applicable to your character)
If you are applying for someone who is still alive at the end of the series, and would like them to be considered for death and resurrection, please explain why: N/A
If your character is one of the resurrected, what is their last memory and why have they returned at their particular age?: Lily’s last memory is of her sitting by the lake at school, alone. It's the end of her sixth year and her mother just sent her a letter informing her that her father is sick. They don't know how long he has and she must come home immediately. She couldn't stand being near anyone and just wanted to be alone. With the letter in her hand, she stared off at the lake trying to force back the tears that seemed never ending. Suddenly, her thoughts were broken by the sound of laughter. It was the self-proclaimed 'Marauders'. "Hey Lily!" their voices seemed to sing out in unison. She didn't want to deal with them at this moment. She pushed her tears down and quickly wiped her eyes. Making sure her face was set in an angry look instead of what she really felt. Their cheerful, mischievous faces strengthened her anger. Potter had probably been picking on Severus again. She wasn't friends with Severus anymore but that didn't mean that she'd just sit back and see him or anyone get picked on by this arrogant prat. She refused to respond to them. "Oh, come on Evans. Lighten up!" James said as they sat down beside her. "Go away Potter! I want to be alone." "Come on, guys... she's obviously upset. Let her be." Remus was always the kind one. He tried to pulled Sirius and James away but James refused to go. "What do you have there?" He said trying to reach for the note. "None of your business. Go away." Lily quickly moved the letter to out of his reach, but Sirius had come up on the other side and grabbed it. "Give it back you guys. Seriously." She could feel her tears swell again. She didn't need them to know what was going on. Before she could do anything Sirius had given the letter over to James to read. His face quickly changed as his eyes went wide. "I... I'm sorry." Was that all he could say! Lily felt a rush of anger and embarrassment fill her. She snatched the letter out of James hand and shoved it into her bag. "I told you it was none of your business! Now go away!" The tears started streaming down her face. She didn't want to deal with this. James seemed stunned in place, he said nothing. She couldn't wait for him to get his marbles back. Instead Lily turned toe and ran down the beach away from them. So she’s returned at the age of 17 because that was a dark point in her memory. Her father was dying and James had found out. She had expected him to make some sort of joke. She had expected him to say something more and the fact that he showed true sorrow for her confused her. He was suppose to be an insensitive prat that picked on people when they were weak.
Each person who returns from the dead using the magic of the resurrection stone must have a reason to come back. Not only would the character want to return, they must be needed by someone for something. Why have they been brought back? Lily's reason to come back is to reconnect with the family and friends she lost. Her need to help others and protect them at any cost. Technically Harry would be the reason she came back, even though the age she's coming back at she wouldn't know him, but the feeling of family in despair would be strong enough. Especially since that was her feeling last.
Plotting
What short and long term goals do you have for your character?: Short term goals for Lily would be to reconnect her with Harry, even though she doesn’t remember him, and the Marauders. Also talk with Severus if he comes back, thank him for what he did for Harry. In long term, I’d like to see her maybe go about trying becoming an Auror or teacher. Someone who can change the world and help others change it too. She wants to see the world at balance with itself (though she knows that it rarely ever turns out like that. Balance for one person may not be balance for another.)
How does your character feel about the post-war world? Lily is amazed at the post-war world. She enjoys that they’re more open to muggles, so that the prejudices of the past would be less likely to effect the younger population of wizards. On the other hand, she doesn’t believe that they should outright kill Deatheaters. Sure they’re bad people, but shouldn’t everyone have a chance to change? Though she does think that using their wealth that was gained threw their vicious endeavors seems just. She feels a bit lost otherwise. She doesn’t understand how she came back and doesn’t know what she should do now that she has to restart her life. Nothing is the same and the world seems to be in the melancholy that she remembers feeling last. Now that she has a second chance she wants to live life to the fullest, see how those she knew turned out and find her way.

Instantly Lily felt the need to take a deep breath. Her lungs cried out as if they had not breathed in years. It was an odd, perplexing feeling. Raising her hand to block the light that seemed to suddenly be coming through the forest canopy, her body ached. Forest? She didn’t remember being in the forest. As if by compulsion, she wandered on. Where ever she had been headed it was probably for a reason.
A soft wind caressed Lily’s face and her robes moved gracefully in the breeze, making her prefect badge glisten. She closed her eyes, taking a long, deep breath of the sweet earthy smell of the forest. Her eyes took in everything in the woods, partially in confusion and partially at the wonder of nature. Her head was still swimming, each step held within it a feeling of floating through the clouds. As she walked, making sure to let her figures move gently over trees and mossy rocks, she tried to remember why and when she had gone into the Forbidden forest but her memories held no answer. Maybe in her fit of embarrassment she has ran off into it, but she could swear that she had ran away from the forested area. Unable to brush her puzzlement aside, Lily wiped at her eyes. The tears were still wet.
She couldn’t seem to keep her footing. Every other minute she was stumbling over a root or a rock that appeared out of nowhere. Her legs tingled with sensation as if she had cut off circulation somehow. When finally she exited the woods, the sun stung her eyes. How strange everything felt. What a wonder. The further she moved beyond the Forbidden forest the clearer the world became. She looked up at Hogwarts towering above her. Something was wrong, something was different.
“What is going on?” she asked herself, barely able to raise her voice over a whisper.
