CHAPTER 2: Finding A Mate
Robin slowly opened his eyes, sat up, and stretched. He couldn't remember why, but his neck hurt like Hell. He put his hand to it and pulled back sharply when he felt 2 holes.
He looked around and noticed he was in a very dark warehouse. He stood up and walked forward.
"You slept like a light."
Robin turned around and saw Draco.
"So this isn't a dream?" Robin asked.
Robin couldn't understand why he felt so strange. Part of him felt great about the whole being turned into a vampire thing.
"Nope," Draco said. "This is reality. You're a vampire now."
Robin's masked eyes narrowed.
"But I don't want to be a vampire," he said. "Change me back."
Draco shook his head.
"Can't. You can't turn back into a human. You'll be a vampire now and forever." Draco paused and thought of his next words. "So there are a few rules about being a vampire. Number one; you can't let anyone know you are a vampire unless its your prey or your mate. Number 2; No going out into the sunlight. If you do, you burn to death and die. Number 3; you can't-"
"Hold on!" Draco stopped and looked at Robin. "What about rule number one?"
"Not telling anyone but your prey and mate?" Robin nodded. "What about it?"
"I have to find a mate?" he asked. "What exactly does that mean?"
Draco eyed Robin wearily.
"Think of it this way...humans need to reproduce right?" Robin nodded. "So do vampires. If we don't reproduce, no more vampires; we'd be extinct, like humans would if they didn't reproduce. So, you find your mate, bite them, turn him or her into a vampire, and help keep the vampire population going. Got all that?"
"I think so," Robin said. "How long would I need to find one?"
Draco stood in thought for a second.
"I'd say before Friday, which is the day after tomorrow. So tomorrow night or early morning would be best. Let's hope you have someone in mind."
Draco started to walk away.
"What if I want a mate, but not reproduce?" Robin asked. "Can I still do that?"
Draco stopped, turned, and laughed.
"Well if you're gay, then go right ahead. It doesn't matter much to me. But you don't seem the type to want a male mate," Draco said. "Your human self didn't seem the type."
Robin cocked his head to the side.
"I can't really explain it, but part of me wants to have a male as my mate. Strange huh?"
Draco shrugged.
"Some humans when they were turned to vampires were more interested in the same sex than the opposite," he said. "You might be one of them. Now if you'll excuse me, I must be off. I'm hungry. Good luck finding your mate."
Draco vanished, leaving Robin behind.
Robin smirked, his teeth flashing.
"I know the perfect mate," he said to himself. "I just need to find my mate first. But I can't be wearing my old uniform. Its too bright and I'm a vampire now. I need something black."
So Robin left the warehouse and noticed it was still pitch black outside. He looked around before locating his first destination.
He walked through the city and found a gothic store still open. He walked in and looked at the selection of clothing. He found black leather jeans, black boots, black nail polish, and white bandaging for his arms.
He paid the cashier and left the shop. He went into an alley and put his new black leather pants over his boxers. He took off his red tunic and threw it away. He wrapped the bandaging around his arms and shoulders.
He took off his old boots and placed his new ones on. They had spikes on the sides and his jeans had three chains on the left side. He threw all his old stuff away and pulled out the nail polish.
He opened the bottle and painted his finger nails. He pocketed the bottle in his jean pocket. He blew on his fingers, drying them. His sharp claws extended. He smirked.
"I could get used to this." He walked out of the alley and looked around. "Now if I were my mate, where would I hide?"
He pondered his question for a few minutes and finally made his decision.
He went back to the docks and sniffed around. He picked up a scent in an old abandoned warehouse. He grinned and found the building.
Meanwhile...
A man in a Halloween mask named Slade was working on his latest project. He didn't hear his warehouse door open, but when he heard booted footsteps, he stopped what he was making and turned around.
A 16 year old boy with black jeans, nail polish, boots, and white bandages on his arms and wearing a mask came out of the shadows and grinned at Slade.
"Miss me?"
Slade blinked.
"I'm surprised you would change to black, Robin," Slade said. "You never did like my Apprentice uniform."
"That was then," Robin said. "This is now."
"I see... I'm not plotting anything, so why are you here?" Slade asked, putting the device on the table beside him.
Robin chuckled.
"There's more to me than meets the eye, Slade," he said. "I'm surprised you haven't noticed it beforehand."
"All I see is the change in clothes, nothing more," Slade said. "Would you like to tell me?"
Robin smirked, finally showing his fangs.
"I'm a vampire now," he said. "And I'm in search of someone. And I found him."
Slade smirked behind the mask.
"What were you planning on doing after you found me?" Robin grinned wider. He vanished and reappeared right in front of Slade. Slade's smirk fell. "A little close for comfort, don't you think?"
Robin had gotten taller and was almost the same height as Slade. Robin growled lightly.
"What was that?" Slade asked.
"Just think of it as my mating call."
Slade blinked in confusion.
Had Robin said...mating...call?
"Robin?"
"Yesss?"
"Your...mating...call?"
Robin leaned closer to Slade, making him almost fall over.
"I'm looking for a mate, Slade," Robin said. "And I have found him." </lj-cut>
