Tangled Web Villains
Power Struggle
Welcome to Tangled breakdown of our very own villains. Below you will find an easy to use guide that will help you understand and use the villains in Tangled Web to your advantage.
Firstly, the moderators at Tangled Web would like to state that every group might be used to the player’s liking. You are allowed (even encouraged!) to create your own NPCs, use them for information gathering, torture, abductions, and murders. We only ask that these not be over used, as four murders every week will grow old very quickly. If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to question a moderator via either email or Yahoo Instant Messenger.
Now, onto the villainy!
Factions:
For game purposes there are two opposing factions currently wrestling for dominion over the dark wizards and witches of Tangled Web’s world. These factions absolutely hate one another, which is good news for all those on the “light” side of the wizarding world. The only reason no new “Dark Lord” or “Dark Lady” has arisen to become the new Voldemort is that the internal squabbling cannot be contained long enough for the factions to strike against the wizarding world at large.
In essence, each faction is attempting to consolidate their power base before moving on to bigger and better things.
Everyone with me?
The Faithful:
The Faithful is the first faction we will discuss today. This faction is essentially made up of those once drawn to Voldemort’s banner. They consist of mainly purebloods (Or half-bloods who hide it very well) and believe all blood traitors and Muggleborns are unworthy to possess so great a power as Magic. Some of the Faithful are Marked Death Eaters trying valiantly to regain everything that Harry Potter stole from them on the eve of Voldemort’s demise.
The Faithful believe themselves to be wholly righteous. They are perhaps more dangerous than Voldemort himself because they hold their departed Master as something holy, a martyr to the cause. They typically brand a version of the Dark Mark onto their forearms.
The Renegades:
The Renegades are the polar opposite of the Faithful in many ways. The first and most obvious reason is that they are not typically Purebloods. In fact, most of this faction is made up of Muggleborns and Half-bloods who feel hiding their gift from the Muggle world is akin to shame.
Unlike the Faithful, the Renegades do not have a martyr to their cause. They wish to reveal their power, and dominion, to the Muggles of the world and have wizards and witches take the proper place as rulers of the globe. The Renegades have very little time for hiding, and they endeavor to bring Muggle Europe to its knees.
The Renegades are, perhaps, more dangerous than the Faithful. The Faithful wish to conceal their presence from Muggles because they believe them to be unworthy. The Renegades want to dominate the world at large.
This faction has no distinct marking on the skin.
The Resistance:
Ahh, vigilantes. This group is the only real defense the wizarding world has against the factions wrestling for supremacy. This group, made up of every kind of witch and wizard in the world fights both opposing factions. They strive for peace and because the Ministry of Magic (as well as other governmental parties) has not publicly acknowledged the problem, the Resistance has decided to take matters into their own hands.
This group was started in memory of the beloved, and almost mythical Order of the Phoenix. Dumbledore’s Army – to a lesser extent – also inspired the idea of organized resistance to those who would bring another war to Europe.
The Faithful, The Renegades , The Resistance, and You
The reason for this breakdown of opposing factions is thus: your characters may be part of any faction he or she wishes to be. Do you have a pureblood who mourns the loss of everything Voldemort stood for? Or is there a half-blood in your mind who wishes to stop hiding from Muggles? Is there a freedom fighter in your blood, calling for the end to all this violence?
Each character may “join” any of the above factions or even more than one! If you want your character to portray a spy, please let the moderators know! Or your character may simply wish to live outside of all this fighting. Any way you choose to play it, these factions are yours to manipulate.
If you have any further questions, please contact a moderator!
Just one more thing…
The only limitation we have on these factions is who leads them. The leaders of all three factions will remain undisclosed for the time being. Your character may work his or her way through the ranks, but no one becomes close to the “main man/woman” in a day.
If you’re happy letting your character be at the bottom or middle of the group’s rankings, well, you can do pretty much whatever you like!
