Harry sat heavily on the steps leading up to the Owlry, burying his face in his hands. He just wanted the past few hours to... disappear. Things had been going so well between him and Ron. They were... Merlin, they were talking about opening a restaurant together when they were finished with school. And now it seemed like everything was falling apart.
He didn't know if he could live without his best mate again.
He sucked in a shaky breath and scrubbed his hands down his face, shaking his head. No. Everything would work out. He and Ron would both calm down, and then they'd talk, and everything would be okay. Right? Right. Everything would be okay.
Ginny was not so much upset as she was angry. Angry didn't even begin to cover it. She was beyond angry and had crossed over into the territory of livid. And the only reason she wasn't hunting her older brother down to give him a good piece of her mind was because Harry had asked her to come find him. And she had a weak spot for him and he'd said please and she figured he really didn't want her to kill his best mate, no matter how much she thought it would help her current mood.
Practically stomping her way to the owlry, she paused when she saw him on the stairs. Taking a deep breath she let out a sigh, her bright brown eyes flashing in anger.
"I am going to kill him." She said simply, lips tight.
"No you're not," Harry said quietly, shaking his head. "...He's just upset. We all are. Can we just. ...Can I have a hug, please?" he requested, holding his hand out to her. Everything was always better when he was holding her.
"He's a sodding prat is what." She countered a bit pointedly. But even as she was saying it, she was walking towards him, taking hold of his hand and tugging on it to help him up. "What I want to know is when the Room of Requirement become synonymous with sex." She grumbled, mostly to herself. The entire situation was so bloody ridiculous that she could hardly stand it.
Harry let Ginny pull him up, wrapping himself around her and pressing his face into her neck. "When we all became teenagers without a bloody war to worry about," he mumbled, sighing heavily. "...Love you, Gin."
"Bloody stupid." Ginny muttered as she wrapped her arms around him breathing in his scent which did in fact manage to calm her down a bit. "Love you too." She said after a moment, though it was somewhat muffled what with her face being pressed into his chest. "Which is why I'm not killing Ron right now, so you know." She gave him a small squeeze. "Why in hell aren't privacy hexes working anyhow?" She asked, brow still furrowed as she tried to figure it out. Didn't rightly make any sense.
"I don't bloody know," Harry sighed, shuffling backwards slightly and tugging Ginny along with him until he could sit on the stairs leading up to the Owlry. He tried to coax her into his lap, giving her his best attempt at a smile. "I appreciate you not killing my best mate, even if he's being a gigantic, humongous prat of the highest order."
Ginny gave in pretty quickly to his coaxing and slid into his lap, curling into him, her head resting on his shoulder. "I am going to hex his Order of Merlin to read Order of Prathood-First Class." She grumbled, feeling slightly better at that plan. "I'm sorry that my brother thinks this is his bloody business. Which it is decidedly not." She let out a frustrated sigh. She really was trying to calm down and surprisingly, she was loads more calm right then than she had been when she'd written that journal entry.
Harry trailed his fingers absently up and down Ginny's back, leaning his head gently against hers. "...He just thinks he's doing what's best." That was the way Ron had always been. He'd always done what he thought was right, because that was just the sort of person he was. Really, Harry couldn't blame him for being so protective. Ginny was his only sister, it was natural that he'd want to take care of her. He just needed to realize that she was an adult now, and she could make her own decisions. Decisions that didn't involve him.
"What in hell does he think is going to happen?" Ginny asked, her anger ebbing if just slightly at the feel of his fingers tracing along her back. "He acts like...like, I don't know...like you're some berk who just wants to corrupt me or something and..." She sighed and turned her face into his chest, needing to take a deep breath. "And it isn't like he and Lav aren't shagging like rabbits." She mumbled.
"Yeah, but... I'm the one who shagged his baby sister," Harry said quietly. "And I know you're not a baby, and you don't need his protection, but you know that's not going to stop him. I mean, this is Ron, we're talking about. ...He loves you. He just wants to make sure you're taken care of the way you deserve to be."
"Which you do." Ginny protested. She couldn't understand why Harry wasn't standing up for himself. "You take better care of me than I deserve." She scowled, but didn't grumble anything else. Instead she sighed and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek. "I'm sorry I'm being such a bloody mess. I'm just...He has realize that I'm a bloody adult."
"I give you just the amount of care you need," Harry argued. "Maybe not even enough. Because you deserve the entire world, Gin. All I can do is try to give it to you and hope that it's enough, because you're amazing. You're perfect." He gave her a proper kiss on the lips, letting it linger before pulling away to rest their foreheads together. "...He'll get it soon. I mean... After you finish school, I... Well. Want to get a place with you. If you want. ...And I think this whole journal mess will only help."
Ginny's cheeks were a well proper shade of red as he argued with her. She opened her mouth slightly to protest, but he was kissing her and by the time he drew back, she'd forgotten what she was going to say. Damn him. "I...You want...You want to get a place...w-with me?" She asked, not really registering everything else he'd said. She was a bit in shock. He wanted to live with her? Sure it was still over a year away and all, and he could potentially change his mind, but still...
Harry blushed red, but he didn't look away, wanting Ginny to know that he meant it, that he really, truly meant it. "...Of course I do," he whispered. "I mean. You... You're everything. You know?"
Her cheeks couldn't possibly have gone any deeper red than they did at that statement. Unable to come up with sufficient words to respond to it, she simply leaned in, hands cupping each side of his chin and kissed him hard, pouring everything she had into the kiss. After what could have been a lifetime, she drew back and smiled. "That..." She started with a wide smile, "Is exactly what I'm talking about when I say you treat me better than I deserve." She said, her voice no louder than a whisper.
Harry lost himself in the kiss, sliding his hand up to curl into Ginny's hair as he kissed her back. When she eventually pulled back, he didn't let her get further than an inch, his blush climbing back up into his cheeks when she spoke. "I'm just telling the truth," he whispered back.
"Hmmm." Ginny said skeptically, though a grin was beginning to tug at the corners of her mouth. She leaned in and pressed a quick kiss to his lips. "Huh...that's strange." She murmured thoughtfully as she leaned her forehead against his.
"What is?" Harry asked, leaning back into her gently and smiling. ...Merlin, she was beautiful. He couldn't stop himself from stealing another kiss, nuzzling into her a little.
"I distinctly remember being in a fit of rage when I came up here." She said, her smile widening as he pressed closer to her. "And yet now..." She paused and leaned in for another fleeting kiss. "Now, not so much."
Harry chuckled and gave Ginny the most innocent grin he could muster up. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Yeah, yeah." The redhead said suspiciously, pursing her lips a bit. "I don't trust that face, Potter." She teased.
"What, this face?" Harry asked, motioning at his own face. "This face? Would this face lie to you? Really?"
"Hmm." Ginny said, brushing her thumb across his cheek, unable to keep the smirk from her lips. "Hard to say. I'm going to need to do a bit of investigating." She said decidedly before leaning in and stealing a lingering kiss. "Certainly appears trustworthy. But you can never be too sure."
Harry nodded seriously, trying not to smile. "You really ought to investigate thoroughly," he told her. "Maybe you should interrogate me. A lot."
"You're right." She said with a nod. "I definitely should." She leaned in and kissed him soundly, her hand moving to cup the back of his neck. She bit playfully at his bottom lip before moving to plant small kisses along his jaw, taking her time as she went. "Hmm, this side seems to be very honest, but I'd better check the other side too." She mumbled against his skin as she moved to give attention to the other side of his jawline.
Harry hummed quietly and tilted his head to allow Ginny more room, fingers playing down her back. They slipped beneath the hem of her shirt, trailing gently over her skin along the waist of her skirt. "...How's it look?" he asked softly, closing his eyes.
"Hmmm." Ginny hummed against him. She planted a few more soft kisses. "Hmmmmmmmmm." She smiled but didn't stop her examination. Eventually finding her way back to his lips she kissed him deep and slowly. Finally pulling back, she kept their foreheads touching and grinned a little. "Looks good. Guess my suspicions were unfounded."
Harry smiled, brushing his fingers down her cheek, tucking a bit of hair behind her ear. His hand slid around to gently grip the back of her neck. "See? I'm completely trustworthy."
"Don't know why I ever doubted it." She half laughed, leaning in to steal a quick kiss. "Obviously you are the picture of truth and integrity."
Chuckling quietly, Harry pulled her in for another kiss, long and lingering. "You're so gorgeous," he murmured.
"Even when I'm sodding mental and homicidal and wanting to kill my brother?" She asked softly, a small blush rising to her cheeks. She was still peeved at the whole thing, but less with the wanting to injure Ron, which she supposed was good. She'd be a little put out if she'd actually killed Ron. He wasn't entirely awful after all. Just a sodding, stubborn, arse occasionally.
"Even then," Harry agreed, brushing their noses together and stealing yet another kiss. "...I love you, Gin. A whole bloody lot."
"Good. Cause I love you too and I'd be a little lonely if you decided that you didn't want to deal with my mood swings." Not that she'd entirely blame him. She knew that occasionally she had the tendency to...over-react a little bit...or a lot a bit. On the bright side, she usually cooled down relatively quickly. And apparently Harry was particularly good at making her forget whatever it was that she was mad about.
Harry shook his head, finding Ginny's hand and giving it a squeeze. "I don't think I'll ever get tired of you or your mood swings," he told her, quiet and sincere. "You're the one for me. For the rest of our lives."
Though she felt the exact same way and though they talked to each other as though it was forever and made plans like they weren't ever going to be apart, to hear him say it--outloud with words and that look on his face...it made her breath hitch slightly in her throat. Her mouth went dry for a moment as she tried to find the words. When she couldn't she bit her lip slightly and leaned in to kiss him, a sense of urgency behind it.
Harry lost himself in the kiss, fingers buried into Ginny's hair. Merlin, he loved kissing her. He could kiss her for the rest of his life and never do anything else, and he'd be able to die happy. "Love you," he mumbled into her mouth, tilting his head to deepen the kiss.
"Love you too." She murmured, letting herself get lost in the kiss. His fingers in her hair were driving her mental and she was finding it hard to remember that they were in the middle of the staircase and anyone needing to send a letter could see them getting a little...carried away. After a long moment, and a bit reluctantly, she pulled back a little. "We'd better get out of here before we really give the entire bloody school something to talk about regarding our private time." She said with a bit of a sarcastic smile.
"Yeah..." Harry sighed, leaning in for a quick peck before giving Ginny a gentle nudge. "Ought to go back to the common room, I suppose. I have a Charms assignment I should finish anyway." He took his time getting up, wrapping an arm around Ginny's waist and stealing another kiss.
Ginny sighed and slid off his lap standing up and running a hand through her messy waves. She furrowed her brow a little as she rested her head against his chest. "I don't really want to hang 'round the common room. I just...M'still mad at Ron and I'd rather not deal with it right now." She'd calm down completely by the next day, most likely. Or at least enough to be able to have a civil conversation.
Harry gave her a gentle squeeze, tilting his head to look her in the eye. "...I could stop by the tower and pick up my things. We could... sit around the library until curfew?"
She softened at that and gave a small smile. "You are too good to me." She said decidedly. "I could probably get my Potions work started at least. Slughorn gets tetchy when it's late." The redhead snuggled a bit closer to him as they walked down the corridor.
"I told you, I give you exactly what you deserve," Harry told her, kissing her head. "Do you want me to meet you at the library? I can have someone run up to grab your bag when I get mine. In case Ron's there?"
"Have I told you how brilliant you are lately?" Ginny asked. Really, he was. Too brilliant. She couldn't figure how she'd gotten so lucky. "I'll get us a table near the back if I can, yeah?" She leaned up and pressed a kiss to his cheek.
Harry leaned into the kiss and returned it, giving her a soft smile. "Yeah, that sounds brill. I'll be there soon."
"Thanks, love." She said, giving his hand a quick squeeze before taking off in the direction of the library
