Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Harry and Ginny
What: Being adorable, what else?
When: Friday night
Where: Gryffindor Common Room
Rating: PG, most likely. They're in the common room
Status: In progress thread

Harry closed his journal and quietly crept out of bed, stripping off the blanket and making his way downstairs with it to wait for Ginny. He usually slept relatively well before matches, so he wasn't quite sure what it was about tonight that was keeping him from sleep. It couldn't have been his earlier conversation with Ron, because that had gone really well, and for the first time, Harry had a really good feeling about their plans for after they finished school.

Whatever it was, he was sure it would disappear as soon as he had Ginny in his arms.

Ginny always found herself a little to anxious for sleep before a match. Tonight, however, it was like she'd had six boxes of fizzing whizbees before trying to get to bed. She was practically wired and she couldn't figure out why. Whatever it was, she was glad that Harry was still awake too. He'd be able to calm her nerves and she'd be able to sleep.

She rolled out of her bed, quietly as she could manage and fumbled around a little for a pair of pajama pants. She usually slept in an old tee-shirt and a pair of knickers when the warmer weather started to hit and it had been mostly nice that week. Once she was decent and sure that her roommates weren't going to wake up, she slipped out the door, closing it silently behind her before she skipped down the stairs.

Ginny was unable to help the small smile that crept over her features when she spotted Harry. There was a slight bounce in her step as she headed over to their favorite couch, taking a seat beside him and leaning to peck his cheek. "Hey." She said softly.

"Hey," Harry murmured, unable to help the faint blush that crept into his cheeks as he returned Ginny's kiss. It was ridiculous, really, blushing from just a kiss on the cheek. But just catching her eye across the room was enough to set him off now that they'd... been intimate. It was really a wonder that Harry was able to make it through any meals in the Great Hall without choking on something because he'd forgotten to chew instead of just staring at her.

It was ridiculous to be so awkward with her now, he knew that, but he couldn't help it. Still, he tried to push it aside, plucking absently at the blanket that he'd piled onto the floor at his feet. "I brought this down, in case you wanted to try sleeping down here. ...If we do, we should wake up early and head back upstairs before someone catches us. But I wouldn't mind it if you wouldn't."

To say Ginny hadn't noticed Harry's behavior would be a lie. She'd noticed how he grinned that silly smile of his when he caught her eye, or blushed if they had a brief, fleeting touch. She found it all terribly sweet and most often she could be seen mirroring his blush or silly grin just from knowing what was likely going through his mind. She knew it was vaguely juvenile, but she couldn't help that he gave her butterflies in her stomach every time she saw or thought about him or the fact that they'd done it.

"You're so brilliant they haven't even properly got a word for it." Ginny informed him, smiling broadly. "Which means, no, by the way. I wouldn't mind in the slightest." She was likely to have a much easier time of falling asleep if his arms were around her. That was a corny and sappy thought, but it was true none-the-less.

Harry smiled, his blush the last thing on his mind now. All he really cared about was getting to hold Ginny while they slept. "...We really ought to try and get some rest right off," he said after a moment. "After all, it's a big match tomorrow. Last one we play before the qualifiers."

And what he was really trying to say... "C'mere," he whispered, stretching out on the sofa and taking Ginny's hand to try and tug her gently into doing the same. The last time they'd been in this sort of position in the common room, he'd fallen off the sofa after accidentally touching her bra while they were snogging. He was definitely not starting anything this time, though. Who knew how far they'd get before remembering where they were?

"You're right." She said, though she still didn't feel the least bit tired. "We really ought to get a good night's rest." Her body was practically buzzing and she couldn't figure out why or how to stop it. She tried taking a quiet deep breath, hoping it would help.

He coaxed her into laying back on the couch and she smiled, turning to face him. She leaned in and gave him a proper kiss on the lips, lingering for a moment longer than would be considered appropriate, but not really caring about that just right then. "G'night." She said, though now she was sure she really wasn't going to get to sleep right away. She really oughtn't have kissed him like that. Her hand moved up and down his arm, fingers dancing just lightly over his skin.

Harry shivered a little at the feeling of Ginny's fingers traveling up and down his arm, his own fingers burying themselves into her hair. He pressed gently on the back of her neck and drew her into another kiss, soft and sweet. He knew he should insist that they sleep, that the match tomorrow was important and they needed all the rest they could get, but he couldn't bring himself to care about anything but her when their lips and their bodies were pressed together like this.

"Goodnight," he whispered when they finally separated, nuzzling their noses together for a moment. "...Except I'm not really tired."

Ginny grinned widely at that. "Good. Neither am I." She said, relieved. She didn't want to accidentally keep him awake if he was actually tired. Even though she knew it wasn't any good for either of them to stay up all night when they had a match the next day, she just wasn't ready for sleep yet. She leaned in and kissed him quite soundly.

Harry made a soft noise of approval when Ginny kissed him, giving into it easily. Really, they ought to at least try to get some sleep, but Harry couldn't be bothered to argue right now, not when getting time like this to themselves was rare. His fingers stayed curled into Ginny's hair while his other hand rested briefly on her waist before sliding up her back, bunching up her shirt along with it so his fingers could splay possessively against her skin.

All thoughts of sleep were quickly abandoned when she felt his cool fingers on her warm back. That was all it took for her to lean into him, encouragingly as she deepened the kiss. One hand began its own tentative exploration of his shoulders and chest while the other cupped the back of his neck gently nudging him closer. She felt her heart flutter a little as she tugged playfully at his bottom lip, shifting her legs against his on the couch so they were properly tangled.

For as much as Harry just wanted to lose himself forever in Ginny's lips and her hands and her body... this really wasn't the place to start anything like this. With a reluctant noise, he drew out of the kiss and leaned his forehead against Ginny's. "...I want to. Don't get me wrong. But we shouldn't," he whispered. "...I don't want to have to stop once we get started in anything, you know?"

He was right. Of course he was right. But that didn't really make her any more enthusiastic of pulling away from him. "Yeah, you're right." She couldn't help the disappointed sigh that accompanied her words. Her hand still traced abstract patterns on his shoulder and neck absentmindedly.

"We could just talk?" Harry suggested, trailing his fingers tenderly through her hair. "...Ron and I went flying this afternoon. Talked a lot. He and Lav want to tag along when we go looking at flats for me in Hogsmeade next weekend. And we talked about what we might like to do when we're finished here at Hogwarts."

"A double date with my brother?" She asked, a smile quirking at the corners of her lips. That might be a bit weird. Though maybe it would help Ron to get over his complex about seeing her being affectionate with a bloke...namely Harry. She could have a bit of fun testing that theory. "Auror training?" Ginny asked at the mention of Harry and Ron's future plans. It was mostly what they'd both talked about anyhow so she figured it was what they were planning.

"It's not a date," Harry insisted immediately. "Ron and I already talked about that. It's two best mates and their amazing girlfriends looking at flats." And it was staying that way, because he really didn't feel like being killed.

Harry paused a little when Ginny mentioned Auror training, letting his hand resting at the back of her neck. "Actually... We talked a bit about opening a restaurant together. A cafe." He peered down at her, waiting for her response.

"Sure sounds like a date to me." Ginny teased, finding a bit of amusement in his slightly defensive response. Sometimes it was too easy to take the mickey and the redhead just couldn't help it. She'd learned from the twins after all.

Ginny's expression was genuine surprise, tilting her head to the side a bit as a small suspicious smile twinged on her lips. "Are you pulling one over on me?" She asked with a half laugh. It was just that all she'd heard either of them seriously talk about in regards to their futures was Auror training. And opening a cafe was a far cry from that.

Harry wrinkled his nose at her teasing, tweaking a little bit of her hair. "Not a date."

He shook his head and gave her an awkward little smile. "I'm serious," he replied. "...We were talking and Ron joked about opening a bakery and... I just went with it, you know? I mean, I used to cook for the Dursleys all the time when I was a kid, so I figure Ron can take care of the pastries and I could cook the meals and it could really work. I'm just... I'm sick of fighting." He shrugged.

"Mmmmhmmm." Ginny hummed, grinning in a way that showed that she clearly didn't agree with him.

"Oh." Was all she could think to say. It wasn't that she didn't like the idea, that wasn't it at all. It was just the last thing she was expecting to hear out of him and caught her a bit off guard was all. "Well that sounds ace." She added after a long moment.

"I know, it's... nothing like anything I've ever talked about, but..." Harry sighed a little, twirling a bit of her hair around his fingers. "...We need a change, yeah? And Ron seems really excited about it, and you know how he is about this sort of stuff. He's got your brothers to live up to and they've already done so much. But we really think we can do this. And we're still finishing all our NEWTs, just in case, you know?"

"I'm all in favor of it. Especially if I get to eat there for free like." She grinned. She might be able to get away with not having to try and learn to cook from her mum this summer then. "I think it's a good idea, and Mum'll be glad that you've both got NEWTs just in case." The more she turned the idea over in her mind the more she enjoyed it. It meant that they'd have to stay close no matter what, which meant that she'd get to spend time with both of them regularly and besides that, she wouldn't have to worry about either of them getting themselves killed every time they went off to work. "I'll be glad to be a little more worry-free. Not too much mortal danger involved in a cafe, yeah?" She grinned, trying to keep it lighthearted.
