Part One


Not far from Blood Pledge Castle, Yuuri watched Greta play beneath the trees on the royal estate. He had recently arrived back from Earth, and already felt as though he missed his family back home. He smiled as Greta turned to him, giggling. But he had family here as well, so he should consider himself blessed.

“It’s too bad that you missed Gwen’s birthday party,” Greta remarked, plucking a pink flower from the ground. “The cake was delicious!”

Yuuri groaned. “Oh man! I didn’t get him anything either.” He felt guilty suddenly. The man often helped him in running castle affairs, and he’d missed a chance to show how appreciated his efforts were.

“Oh, look!” Greta said as she headed over to a small patch of orange flowers. “How pretty!”

Yuuri plucked one from the ground. The orange petals of the flower fanned out from a cluster of darker faintly spotted petals in the center that curved in on themselves. They had a deliciously sweet scent, like fine perfume. “Yeah. I’ve never seen flowers like these before. If you look at them the right way, they almost look like little lions.” He perked up, bending to pluck others to add to the first. “I know! I’ll give some of these to Gwendal. It’s not much of a present, but at least it’s something until I can get him a nicer gift.”

“That’s a good idea,” Greta agreed, helping Yuuri gather others.

Gunter hovered near Gwendal as he went over the documents that needed his signature. Gwendal looked up from his desk at the knock at the door, hearing Yuuri request entry.

“Come in,” Gwendal answered. Greta bounded into the room, followed quickly by Yuuri. The sight of the flowers that Yuuri was holding made Gwendal’s eyes widen. He sat up in the chair. There’s no way that the Maou could intend for him to have those. They must be for someone else, he thought.

Yuuri smiled broadly. “I hope we’re not disturbing you,” the teen started.

“N-No. Of course not,” the man answered, eying the flowers.

Gunter’s eyes widened and he uttered a shocked sound as Yuuri held the flowers out to Gwendal. “These are for you, Gwendal,” Yuuri said, smiling. “It’s not much of a belated birthday present, but when I saw them, I thought of you.”

Gwendal uttered a choked sound, not believing what was occurring. He never even dreamed that the boy thought of him in such a way. “You… you really want me to have those?”

“Of course!” Yuuri asserted.

“B-But Majesty!” Gunter remarked, flustered. “Isn’t this a little problematic? What about what Wol-”

“Don’t be silly,” Yuuri interrupted. “There’s nothing problematic about it.” He looked at Gwendal who was staring at him with an odd expression. “If you don’t like them…”

At that, Gwendal rose quickly from his chair. “Of course it’s not that. I’m merely… surprised. If this is Your Majesty’s wish, then I can do nothing else but fulfill it.” He grasped the flowers gingerly, cradling them to his chest. “I will serve you faithfully until the end of my days.” He bowed solemnly as he spoke, blushing faintly.

Yuuri laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. “It’s nothing! I’m glad you like them.”

Conrad’s voice called through the open door, Wolfram close behind. “Ah, Gwendal, we wanted to ask you if-” He stopped at the sight of Gwendal bowing before Yuuri, telltale flowers in his arms. Oh boy.

Next to him, Wolfram sounded as though he would hyperventilate. “Cheater!!! How could you… my own brother!” He approached, shaking his fist at the teen. “Looking for loopholes to justify what you’ve been doing behind my back this whole time!”

Yuuri held his arms out, waving his hands. “What are you talking about? I didn’t do any-”

“And you,” Wolfram spat angrily at his older brother, “You’re my brother! How could you accept them! You seduced him didn’t you?”

Gwendal frowned. “Don’t be silly. I did nothing to influence His Majesty in this matter. And who am I to refuse the Maou in something like this?”

“You little-!” Wolfram told Yuuri dangerously, Conrad holding the blonde back.


“It’s been some time since a Maou has done this,” Gunter interjected. “I can’t believe you did this so soon after learning about it a few weeks ago. And taking a concubine at such a young age… you’ve become so mature!” The violet-haired man beamed.

Yuuri’s face fell. He should have known that daydreaming during Gunter’s lessons would have its consequences. “Concubine…?”

“It’s been so long since anyone has invoked that particular law set forth by the tenth Maou,” Gunter continued. “I thought for sure that Cheri-sama would have,” he muttered.

Yuuri groaned, slapping his hand to his face. He should have known that the act of giving flowers wouldn’t be so simple in Shin Makoku.

“Majesty,” Gunter began, sidling up beside the distressed teen. “As you know, a Maou is allowed two such concubines, so maybe you’d like to choose your second one soon.” Gunter eyed him hopefully.

Gwendal cleared his throat. “I’m sure that one is enough for now.”

“Yeah, cheater,” Wolfram began. “You can still choose another one. Why don’t you take Conrad, too! Then you can have all three of us brothers and my humiliation will be complete!”

Conrad attempted to get his younger brother to sit and calm down. “Now, now. I’m sure that’s not His Majesty’s intention.” He succeeded in getting the fuming blonde into a nearby chair.

“How do I get into situations like this?” Yuuri asked under his breath. He looked over at Gwendal, who still cradled the flowers against himself. He wore a strange expression as he smiled faintly.

“Hey! Stop smiling!” Wolfram ordered. “You’re too happy about this.” Wolfram stood suddenly, shaking his fist. “You’d better not try to take his innocence before I do. It’s my right as his fiancé!”

Yuuri sighed.

Dinner was as uncomfortable as Yuuri had thought it would be. Wolfram sat flanking him on one side, Gwendal at the other. The blonde periodically glared at him and his older brother in turn. Things didn’t improve when Cheri entered the room, beaming.

“Gwen!” the woman said, rushing to her eldest son, her steps light. She hugged him to her chest as he sat. “I heard! I’m so happy for you. And here I was worried your disposition would leave you lonely.”

“Thank you, Mother,” Gwendal replied, his voice muffled against her.

“Why are you congratulating him?” Wolfram asked her. “He’s trying to steal my lover!” Yuuri groaned next to him.

“Don’t be silly,” Cheri answered him. “It was the Maou that chose Gwendal, not the other way around. And haven’t I told you before that good brothers share their things?”

“Mother…”

“Hmm,” she continued, raising a hand to rub her chin in thought, “Yuuri looks like such an innocent boy, but I guess you weren’t enough for him.”

“Mother!” Wolfram groaned, hating that his mother was voicing his fears.

Yuuri sank in his chair, wishing that the floor would swallow him whole, hating how complicated his life was becoming of late.

Later on, Yuuri sat in the bath, relaxing in the warm water, steam rising above its surface. He had hoped that a portal would open up when he initially stepped into the bath, but no such luck. So he decided that he should just enjoy the tranquility, closing his eyes as he leaned against the side, soaking up the water’s warmth.

“This place and its strange customs,” Yuuri lamented aloud to no one in particular. He grasped a cloth and soap nearby. “I’d better find out more about them before I get into even more trouble later.” Maybe he’d ask Conrad to give him information on the basics.

The sound of water being displaced nearby made Yuuri open his eyes. The naked form of Gwendal slipped into the bath next to him, blue eyes intense.

“Gwendal,” Yuuri asked, trying not to look too nervous, “What are you doing here?”

Gwendal fixed him with much the same look reserved for small cute things. “I’m here to tend to Your Majesty’s needs.”

Yuuri flailed. “Ah, you don’t have to tend to any needs right now,” he told the man, flustered.

“Part of my job is to help you bathe,” he answered in a low voice, moving closer to retrieve the soap from the teen. He lathered his hands with it.

“Um, okay,” Yuuri answered, made more nervous by Gwendal using his bare hands to lather his body. Gwendal started with his back, using massaging strokes, then pulled the boy flush against himself, winding arms around him to lather his chest and torso.

“How is it, Majesty?” Gwendal asked close to his ear.

“Er, fine,” Yuuri answered, unsure.

After a few moments, Gwendal’s hands threatened to dip below the water toward his loins until finally they did. Yuuri splashed nervously. “You don’t have to do that,” Yuuri mentioned. “I can do this part myself.”

Gwendal pulled him closer. “My job won’t be complete until I cleanse you everywhere, Your Majesty,” he insisted. His hands moved back to lather the teen intimately.

Yuuri squirmed, thinking that Gwendal was enjoying this particular part of his job description, judging by what was poking him in his backside. “Gwendal… I...”

“Just relax, Your Majesty,” Gwendal told him, feeling the teen’s erection harden in his hands. “I’m here to take care of such things.” He began to pump Yuuri gently in his fist.

Yuuri wanted to tell the man that he was the cause of ‘such things,’ but the words died on his lips from the working of skilled hands. He had a few thoughts about how Gwendal had become so good at something like this. Yuuri tried not to reflect on what allowing the man’s actions said about him.

Gwendal’s chest heaved as he continued to stroke the teen, Yuuri moaning softly. Gwendal blushed as he began to compare the sounds that the boy made to those of a mewling cat. “Kitty,” he murmured breathlessly. In his minds eye, he conjured up the image of Yuuri with cat ears sticking out from dark hair, a little brown tail moving through the air behind him as he bent to lap at a saucer of milk, purring. Making a choked sound, Gwendal tried to ignore his wayward thoughts to focus on the Maou. His own needs were secondary to his master’s. He worked his fist in earnest.

Yuuri groaned, tilting his head back against Gwendal’s chest, his hips moving in time to the man’s strokes. He placed a squeezing hand on the man’s thigh as he gave himself over to the moment. The water rippled to the rhythm of his motions.

Gwendal shivered at the friction from Yuuri’s hips rubbing against his lap, his erection pressed between his lower belly and the teen’s buttocks and lower back. He slipped his other hand down to cup Yuuri’s sacs, massaging them as the teen groaned. Biting his lip, he slid a finger back to stroke across the teen’s entrance. Gwendal wondered how soon it would be before the Maou asked him to instruct him in other pleasures that could be found between men.

Shuddering, Yuuri could hold off no longer, the pearly fluid that spilled from him dissipating in the warm water around him. Gwendal continued to stroke him until he was completely spent. Yuuri felt the man twitch, hearing him grunt as something warm splashed against his lower back. Realizing what had occurred, Yuuri blushed.

“S-Sorry,” Gwendal said in a low voice as he washed his essence away in the warm water.

“It’s okay,” the teen answered. It was strange what things he was allowing while in this world. Maybe he’d been taking the saying ‘when in Rome’ a little too close to heart.

“Hey!” a familiar voice shouted after a few moments. Yuuri looked over at the angry form of a clothed Wolfram. “I’ve been looking for you, Yuuri.” He frowned. “You better not be doing anything with Gwendal that you won’t do with me, too.”

Gwendal cleared his throat. “I was merely helping His Majesty get cleaned up before bed.”

“There better not be any unnecessary touching going on!” his brother warned.

“I wouldn’t dream of it,” Gwendal remarked with Yuuri rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
