About: | SwallowedHate is a multi-fandom horror roleplay community set in Silent Hill. It doesn't matter what fandom your character comes from. They have sinned, and for that they will be judged. THE STORY Los Angelos. The city of angels. A city made victim of urban sprawl and crime. Maybe you've just moved in. Maybe you were born and raised here. Whatever the case, this is where you start. You go about your day-to-day life as you always have, except for one little thing. They started a month ago—the nightmares. When you closed your eyes, there was no rest. Instead you found yourself trapped in an abandoned town full of swirling mist that tricked the eyes, and shambling shadows you dared not approach. The place so real you could have sworn you were awake. An overwhelming sense of dread pervaded these nightmares. You awoke abruptly, each night, sometimes more than once. Sweat pouring down your neck, your heart raced. It took long, long minutes to shake off this nameless fear. Nothing, not even drugs would keep the nightmares away. Always when you dreamed, you wandered the streets, unable to get into any of the buildings. Unable to open the beaten, weathered doors or peer in through the ash-clouded windows. You never met anyone. Not one person, or creature. Not so much as a fly. Until one night, when it all changed. When at last you found the sleep you’ve begun to dread, you awoke again into the dream—only it was so much different. You didn’t wander the street. Instead, you found yourself lying on a hotel bed, the covers a dingy gray-blue. The proportions of the room were small, just enough to sleep in, not much else. A dusty, out of date television sat on top of the dresser across the room from you. It was on, tuned to nothing but silent snow. The grainy static seemed to be all you could pick up, but when you stared at it long enough…you thought you saw something. Something horrible. THE MEANING So, mainly, your character is in store for dreams that mimic reality in a more twisted sense. Dreams that place him or her in Silent Hill. Yeah, that’s great and all, but it doesn’t tell you, the player, much of what to expect. This game will not be easy. Your character could die, easily. You don’t start out with weapons. You don’t start out with flashlights, and no, you don’t even start out with radios. When you begin your time in Silent Hill, you’ll have nothing but the clothes on your back and yourself to rely on. Maybe some pocket lint or a stick of gum. This is meant to be a survival horror game with an emphasis on both survival and horror. The monsters are going to be tough and cooperation is going to be key—after all, that’s why we came here right? At the same time your character is going to find himself or herself not wanting to cooperate with the people here. So, what do you expect? This game is a loose combination of the premises of Everworld and Silent Hill, with a stronger influence from Silent Hill. Didn’t read Everworld? “The idea of Everworld is that, many years ago (said to be near 1,000 years in Everworld time), the ruling gods of every pantheon (including Zeus, Odin, and Ra) assembled and agreed to abandon this world, known as the Old World, and create a new one called Everworld. The exact details of why they did this are unknown, though it has been suggested that as humans became more advanced, the gods realized they couldn't control this world anymore, but this is uncertain. In any event, Everworld was created, and the gods went across it, bringing with them every variety of magical creatures, as well as various human worshippers to continue serving them. The barrier between these two worlds was apparently weak for a while, allowing later medieval beings (such as the wizard Merlin) to cross over as well, but by now, is almost closed. For right now, the Everworld premise is largely in use to explain how your character got to Silent Hill in the first place. It will figure significantly in the plot later on, but… Well, you’ll just have to wait and see. Didn’t play Silent Hill or see the movie? That's okay. (You should, though. It's an excellent series.) Silent Hill is a remote town situated around Toluca Lake. The town has a dark past, having originally been stolen from it’s native inhabitants, hosted a prison camp that was the sight of many unjustified and brutal executions, and housing demons that walk through the misty streets. The mist is perpetual, and dense. It is impossible to see more than twenty feet in front of you. The town is abandoned and run down. Much of it was gutted by fire quite a long time ago, what is left is a dilapidated shell of the picturesque little community. More importantly, in silent hill your worst fears are brought to life, along with your darkest secrets. THE SYSTEM The game will start on an as yet undetermined date. We want enough characters to make interaction easy first. So stay tuned. When it starts, the characters will be given a brief time to sum up their current lives in Los Angeles, and interact with any characters they might have cause to. We don’t mind, in fact, we encourage first meetings with characters currently in the game, especially if your characters really have no reason to run into each other—it will add to the mystery later. After this brief prologue, your character will have his or her first awakening in Silent Hill. The mod will announce Day Time to Night Time changes, including brief descriptions of weather to keep everything consistent. Yes, your character will move between Los Angeles in the waking world and Silent Hill in the dreaming world. At least for now. For those of you who know the difference between Mist Phase and Dark Phase, you know that Dark Phase is not to be taken lightly. Dark Phase means more monsters, and less ability to see. Therefore, mod approval is needed to start a thread in Dark Phase, or shift one into Dark Phase. For the first night there will be no Dark Phase. You need mod approval to find anything useful. There are not going to be bullets lying around everywhere. As far as weapons go, this game will be more like the movie than the game. You may find one or two things, but this game is going to test the limits of your ability to share. If you would like your character to find something, copy/paste the action in which he or she is searching from your thread as a comment to this post.in my mod journal. Make sure you clearly state that your character is searching, where he or she is searching, and what things the character is searching in. What you find will be random, so please don’t ask for a rocket launcher or an ampoule. If you’d like to request NPC interaction in your thread, comment to this post.with your characters name, the name of the thread, and which NPC you would like to interact with. The list of available NPCs can be found here. However, remember that this is a double edged sword. The NPCs have their own agenda, and may just have it in for you. So if you, say, request Pyramid Head. Chances are, the big guy is going to try and kill you—and he might start chasing you. In addition, certain NPCs—like Pyramid Head—are open to veto if I think it’s too soon or not a good idea. Any questions? Just ask. Really, I’m not hard to get along with, I just want you to know what you’re getting into. Still interested?
