Who: Lex, Katee, and Ace
When: Friday morning (& lunchtime)
Where: The Zeppo
What: Teasing, and flirting.
Warnings: Excessive sweetness?
Lex had been in a very good mood; waking up every morning wrapped up in Zack’s arms had that effect on him. They hadn’t done anything beyond kissing since their liason in his office; he’d meant what he said about taking things slow. That didn’t mean they couldn’t spend their nights together, both sleeping better in each others’ arms. He was sure his staff had noticed a difference, and he was trying not to rise to their teasing.
Of course, this morning he had some teasing of his own to do. He knew Ace and Katee had gone on a date last night, and he’d been waiting all morning for her to come in. When she came bouncing in the door, grinning even wider than normal, he couldn’t help but laugh.
“I’m gonna go out on a limb and say that last night went well?” He remarked as she walked past him, trying not to meet his eye. She was so close to the break room, so close to making it to the door without Lex accosting her. But no luck. She turned around on her heel, trying and failing to hide her massive grin.
“Yep,” she replied, unusually laconic. Lex just arched an eyebrow at her.
“Aaaaaand...?” He said, inviting her to continue. “C’mon, Katee, I want juicy details!” Ok, yes, not massively appropriate for work, but he’d never claimed to be the most professional of managers. He followed her into the break room as she hung up her coat and bag, grinning himself.
“No details!” Katee was already blushing, and Lex wasn’t helping. She wasn’t planning on telling Lex what had happened; Ace was special. She concentrated on putting her bag in her locker, checking her makeup in the mirror on the inside of her locker door.
“Aw, c’mon, you’ve got that look.” Lex teased. “That, I-came-so-hard-I-had-to-relearn-how-to-w
“No I didn’t!” Katee protested, squirming with embarrassment, though she was laughing a little herself. It was...oddly sweet, that Lex was so happy that the date had gone well. Even if he was being way too nosy for her liking.
Lex laughed again. “C’mon, Katee, look at you. Did you or did you not get naked and horizontal with Ace?” A few days ago, if he’d thought Ace was anything less than straight, he’d have tried hitting on him. As it was, he was just pleased that it was one of his friends and colleagues that got to tap that.
Katee’s blush had practically gone supernova by now. She opened her mouth to deny it, then realised she couldn’t.
“Only technically!” She protested. “We didn’t sleep together!” He had gone down on her, though - that had been enough to leave her shaking and exhausted, barely able to stand long enough to walk Ace to the door. She’d gone straight back to bed once he’d left, falling asleep with a massive grin on her face. One which had still been there when she’d woken up this morning.
“Ok, but something happened...” Lex teased, but he didn’t actually want graphic details, or to embarrass her too much. “You don’t have to get specific, don’t worry.” Giving up on teasing her, he gave her a big hug instead.
“I’m happy for you, sweetie,” he said, kissing the top of her head. “He’s a good guy. And you guys totally owe me for being the reason you two met.”
Katee hugged back, smiling. She slipped out of his arms, turning to the bag she’d brought in with her. “Funny you should say that, Mr Bossman sir...because I brought you these.” She pulled out a box of cupcakes, handing them to him.
“Pretty sure Ace said he owes you like, a million drinks for being emo enough for him to come in and check on you, too.” She beamed. “C’mon. Lets go sell some comics!” Kissing his cheek, she slipped out of his arms, bouncing out the door onto the shopfloor.
“Awww! Thank you.” Lex grinned, stealing a fingerful of icing off one of the cupcakes. Katee was already out the door, and Lex chuckled before setting down the box of cupcakes and following her. The lunchtime rush would be starting soon, and Lex was hoping for a busy day.
