AN: Set Early Spring 2005 just a short while before the events of Organ Grinder. While it's been mentioned in early Hols that Severus had only punished Harry once before in anger, he will be spanking him in this story. However, Harry is not truly being punished, they are simply playing and both parties are aware that there is no tension between them.
Harry looked out of the window of his sitting room, smiling as he watched the snow coming down. With a sigh, he closed his grade book and stood up, it was time to go have some fresh air, he thought.
He made his way out of the castle and onto one of the side lawns where there were several spirited snowball fights going on. Harry smiled as a small first year ran up and grabbed his hand, yelling to the others as she did so. "We have Professor Potter!"
Laughing, Harry began to throw loosely packed snowballs at the apparent opposite team, trying to push the smaller students behind him to shield them as he did so. The students on the other team all had good aim and soon Harry was snow covered and laughing with all of them, not noticing a tall, black robed figure walking carefully down the walk until it was too late.
The snowball Harry had just thrown landed squarely against the side of the feared Potions master's head. The student's fell silent, their eyes and mouths open as they waited for their beloved Professor Potter to be incinerated on the spot.
Severus lifted a hand and scraped the snow from the side of his face. He turned and faced his doomed lover, slowly drawing his wand. He flicked it slightly, several balls of snow lifting from the ground at his direction. A snarl formed on his thin lips and he flicked his wand once more sending the snow balls flying at his lover and several First Years. "Defeat the Gryffindors!" he shouted and nodded at several Slytherin students that had been following him. "Attack!"
Flicking his wand once more and still hoping for the surprise element, Severus sent more snowballs towards Harry.
Harry shouted and ducked the first salvo and motioned to the students on his side to quickly make more snowballs and pass them to him. Laughing louder, he threw two more snowballs, his aim true as they hit Severus in the chest and shoulder.
"Come on, help me get them!" Harry cried to the dumbstruck students, one little girl looking at him in disbelief.
"Professor, we'll lose house points," she said as she stared at the snow frosted dungeon bat.
"No love, you won't, I promise. Isn't that right Professor Snape, no house points taken for this?" Harry called out, trying hard not to laugh as Severus nipped a bit of snow that was melting down the collar of his frock coat.
Severus arched an eyebrow. "Twenty points to the first house that can bury Professor Potter completely in the snow." He flicked his wand again sending another volley of snowballs at his lover. "What are you all standing there for? Get him!"
"Oi! No fair!" Harry shouted as he was pelted from all sides as the students laughed wildly and pelted him with snow. "Thirty points to the house that buries Professor Snape!"
One daring little Gryffindor ran over and stared up at Professor Snape, a large snowball in her mittened hands. Silently she regarded him for a moment before smashing the snow into his robe. "Got you!" she sang out happily.
Severus stared down at the girl for a moment. He bent and looked her in the eyes. "Ten points to your house if you go and help finish burying Professor Potter and never come near me again."
"What about Potions class?" she asked as she considered the proposition, she was a Wood after all, she had to bargain.
Severus blinked. "Potions are a required subject there is no compromise. The offer only applies to the current situation which is steadily dwindling to nine points the longer you stand here debating with me."
"Ten and I'll shove snow down his shirt," she said as she bent to scoop up a double handful, packing the snow into a large ball before running over and waited until one of the older students had Professor Potter on his knees before she ran up and stuffed the snow down his collar.
"Snape!" Harry yelled as he fell forward, the children piling snow on top of him, he was laughing so hard he could barely get enough breath to cast a spell to toss the snow off of himself.
Severus rubbed his hands together. "Ten points to Gryffindor as well as twenty points to each of the other houses as well." He turned and shook his head as he made his way back to the castle. "I do hope you have your grading done, Professor Potter."
"This isn't over Professor Snape," Harry called out as he got to his feet, patting the children on the backs as he did so, telling them what fun he'd had and how brave they'd been to throw snow at the other man.
Quickly shaking the snow off of himself, he ran after Severus, surefooted on the snow covered pathway. "Hey," he said as he caught up to the other man and grinned up at him. "That was fun."
Severus arched an eyebrow at his companion. "You will pay for it later I assure you." He smirked and shook his head. "I am glad you had fun. My reputation is now shot. Not only did I play with you but I awarded thirty points to Gryffindor." He closed his eyes as they walked back inside of the castle. "Merlin, I'll never live it down especially once it reaches Albus' ears."
Harry was careful to walk separately of Severus, there were students in the hallway and they were careful to never arouse suspicion. "Chess tonight after dinner?" he asked as he paused at the foot of one of the many staircases, planning to go back up to his rooms in Gryffindor tower.
Severus nodded and looked around the hallways. "Just after curfew. I have rounds." He eyed the younger man for a moment. "Being late will not be tolerated."
Harry bowed his head once. "Yes Sir," he said softly before turning and making his way up the stairs, a little smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
Severus shook his head and made his way to his chambers to change his robes into dry ones contemplating just what he would do to the younger man once they were ensconced in his quarters. He braced himself for the fall out of his actions, when Albus would mention it today at dinner.
