AN: Set just after the events in Volcano, late summer of 1994. This is the beginning of Davy and Gregory’s story. There are many different ways to participate in the Lifestyle. Every one is unique and can be twisted and abused to someone’s own ideals. We are not belittling or demeaning anyone’s desire to practice it how they wish. However, safe, sane and consensual, trust and care should always be the most important aspects of any relationship. Power flows from the bottom up and submissives are not doormats.
David Fleming pulled his bike into the covered parking area outside his building, shutting it down and waiting for his friend Gregory to dismount from behind him before he swung his leg from over the seat. They were arriving after a week spent at the Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota and David thought he’d not have feeling in his butt for a day or so after those long hours on the bike coming home.
“Greg, are you hungry or do you just want to sleep for awhile?” he asked as he led the way into the building and then the elevator up to his floor. He opened the door to the condo he’d inherited and ushered his friend inside as he turned on the lights and collected his mail.
Giving a yawn as an answer, Gregory followed the lithe man up to the apartment and tossed the bags from the cycle onto the floor in a pile. “Sleep right now… at least for a week.” He chuckled and moved to the kitchen to get a glass of water before bed. “Do you need to eat or something? Have you checked your insulin lately?” He turned back to look at the other man with a glass in his hand, raised up in a question.
Davy rummaged in one of his bags and pulled out his monitoring kit and insulin. “I’ll eat some crackers or something, I don’t think there’s much here right now. I need to go shopping later,” he said as he set everything down on the kitchen counter. He opened his kit and quickly did the finger stick and waited for the results while he got a glass of water and a package of peanut butter crackers from one of the cupboards.
When the machine beeped, he glanced at it and made a face before he drew up a dose of insulin and poked himself in the belly with the needle before grinning at Greg around a mouthful of cracker. “I’m set,” he said, swallowing a sip of cold water.
Gregory peered over Davy’s shoulder and shook his head. “You are going to have to work on getting that number up some and keep it level.” He walked past the other man, pinching him on the bottom before going to their bags and pulling out his pillow and blanket to make up the couch.
“Merlin, I think I am going to die once I lay down because I damn sure won’t get any rest once I head back to Boston. I still have a few days before I absolutely have to pick a hospital to do my residency at.” He shook his head. “I still don’t know what I want to specialize in.”
Davy watched the other man get his bedding and shook his head. “You take the bed Greg, you’ll sleep better,” he said as he finished his last cracker and took the bedding from him. “Just no corpse in my bed, alright?” He laughed and gently steered his friend into the well-appointed bedroom and sat him down on the edge of the bed.
“I still think you would make an awesome kids doctor, but what do I know? I’m just going to be baking birthday cakes,” he grinned with a shrug and took one of the pillows from the bed and started out of the door and then stopped.
“Why don’t you hang out for a few days instead of leaving tomorrow? I mean if you want to, then I can show you some of Chicago,” he said and leaned against the doorframe to wait for an answer.
Gregory grinned. “Really? I suppose if I can deal with you then I can handle a few kids.” He shook his head as he watched the other man take his pillows. “I’ll stay, if you bunk in here with me. I’ll not toss you out of your bed just because I am tired.” He patted the mattress. “It’s big enough and it’s not like we just didn’t spend the past week together.”
Pushing himself away from the doorframe, Davy nodded. “That’s true and at least now we don’t have the Doublemint twins trying to piss off everyone,” he laughed. “I can take the floor Greg, I know you probably sleep better alone.” He began to strip down out of his clothes, a shower was a passing thought, but he’d take one when he woke up. Once he was down to bare skin, he tossed his clothes into a hamper in the corner and stood hesitantly at the foot of the bed.
Gregory eyed Davy for a moment then reached out and pulled the slender man down onto the comforter. “Get your skinny ass in the bed, Davy.” He stood and shucked his jeans and tossed his shirt down as well into a small pile; he'd wash in the morning. He pulled back the blanket and then looked at the other man. “Are you alright with this? I mean it didn’t seem to bother you at Sturgis and now you are acting like a virgin bride.” He smiled at his friend and sat down on the bed. “I’ll go pull out the couch if you are not comfortable.” He swallowed “I’m not Sev but I do keep the sheets warm.”
With a shy smile, Davy shook his head and slipped under the blankets; it was time to rid the bed of ghosts and besides, it wasn’t like he was bringing every man he met home to share his bed. “It’s a new sofa Greg, no bed in this one,” he said and tugged on the other man’s wrist. “Lay down, okay? At least you don’t hog the covers like he does.”
Davy settled in his normal spot, turning to face the wall. He wasn’t being antisocial; he just preferred to sleep on that side. He reached behind him and patted the sheet. “Come on.”
Gregory slid into the bed, shaking his head. “No, I don’t but I’ll warn you now,” He scooted right up next to Davy, spooning him and then settled down into his pillow. “I like to cling to things once I get down in the sheets.”
Davy smiled as he felt his friend’s body curl around his and he reached a hand back to lace his fingers with Gregory’s, pulling the other man’s arm over his waist. “I don’t mind. It’s been a long time since anyone has held me while I slept. Sev doesn’t like to be touched much while he sleeps and even if I sleep with a pillow next to me, it doesn’t have arms,” he said softly and raised his head so Greg could slide his other arm under his head and hold him closer.
Gregory snorted and pulled Davy back against him and twined their legs. “Good for you?” He buried his face in Davy’s soft hair then nuzzled the back of his neck. “We’ll go shopping tomorrow and rest some more then we can sightsee the next day. Sound good to you?” He yawned and burrowed down even further into the sheets then untangled his fingers from Davy’s for a moment to pull the blanket up over them. He draped his arm back over the other man and sighed softly as he stroked Davy’s flat stomach. “Rest well, Davy.” He mumbled softly.
“Yes sir,” Davy murmured, his eyes closed and well on his way to slumber, not realizing what he’d said. He fell asleep, safe and content, a small smile on his lips as he wriggled from time to time in the other man’s arms.
Gregory’s eyes opened wide at Davy’s words then he smiled and nuzzled the other man once more. He wrapped his arms tighter around the slim figure, pulling him even closer as he drifted off to sleep as well.

Davy woke several hours later, his stomach growling and his bladder protesting. With a sigh, he opened his eyes, looking at the clock and then out the window beside the bed. It was after ten at night and although still tired, he needed to get up for a little while. Carefully, he disentangled himself from Gregory’s arms, smiling when it dawned on him that he had slept safe in the man’s arms for the past seven hours.
After a trip to the bathroom where he did what he needed to and slipped a pair of pyjama bottoms on, he padded quietly into his kitchen. He rummaged through the cabinets and freezer and began to put together a simple meal of scrambled tofu and toast from a loaf of bread.
Gregory woke alone in the dark and groaned. He rolled over on to his back and stared up at the ceiling listening to Davy make soft noises in the kitchen. He smiled and got out of bed then visited the bathroom before going and standing quietly in the kitchen door way. “Smells good.” He stepped into the kitchen, opening up cabinet doors to look for dishes to set the small bistro table in the dinning area. “Is there anything I can help with?”
Davy watched him for a moment and smiled. “You can go back to bed if you like, I’ll bring you in a tray. You still look tired,” he said as he added the green onions and cheese to the tofu mixture, folding in the ingredients and waiting for it to finish. “I’ve got things taken care of in here.” He bit his lower lip and began to plate up the food, fixing Gregory’s on a nice stoneware platter, hot, buttered toast, several small bowls of different jams set on the edge of the tray. “Shall I bring it in to you?”
Gregory smiled and nodded. “Only if you’ll join me back under the sheets.” He chuckled. “We can watch the late movie together before going back to sleep.” He picked up Davy’s monitor kit and grabbed a bottle of insulin from the fridge to be on the safe side. “Go on then I’ll turn out the lights after you.”
Davy looked from the tray to Gregory. “You go get comfortable and I’ll be in in a few minutes,” he said and picked the tray up, carrying it in and setting it on the bedside table, retrieving the television remote from the top of the set and placing it beside the plate on the tray. While waiting for Gregory to return to the bedroom, he fluffed and piled up the pillows so the other man could eat comfortably while he watched a movie.
When he was finished, he padded back into the kitchen and ran a sink of hot, soapy water. “Your food is in there and the remote is on your tray.”
Gregory stared at Davy as he began to clean up. He shook his head and grabbed the other man, drying his hands with the dishtowel that was thrown over the tanned shoulder. Leading the way back to the bedroom, he pulled Davy along, shutting off the lights as they went before stopping at the edge of the bed. “Get in there and eat.” He lifted up the blanket and sat down then patted the bed.
“Come on,” He turned and retrieved the tray, settling it over his lap as Davy sat down beside him. He shoved a bit of eggs into the other man’s mouth and then picked up the remote. “What do you want to watch?” he asked as he surfed through what seemed like nine hundred channels.
Davy chewed and then swallowed. “Whatever you wish is fine,” he said softly. “I should go do the dishes before the food dries on them, if you don’t mind.” He looked at the tray and then jumped up out of the bed to hurry into the kitchen.
“I forgot to make the juice for you, I’ll be right back,” he called over his shoulder as the kitchen light came on the sounds of water running and the freezer being opened were heard.
Gregory gawked after Davy. He tossed the remote on the bed and marched into the kitchen. He watched the other man for a moment and shook his head. “What are you doing, Davy?” He asked softly.
The slender man froze in his tracks; glass in one hand and pitcher of juice in the other. He looked over at Gregory and swallowed. “I forgot your juice. I’m sorry; I was making it for you. Would you rather have coffee? I can make that in a few minutes,” he said and set the glass and pitcher down before returning to the freezer to take out the coffee he had stored there. “I’ll just be a moment, I promise. I’ll bring it right in to you.”
Gregory chuckled and shook his head, walking into the kitchen and taking the coffee grounds out of the other man’s hands. He grabbed Davy’s face and turned it to look him in the eyes. “Calm down, Davy.”
He smiled and shook his head once more. “I want you to go in the bedroom and get back in the bed and eat. Then I‘ll check your sugars for you.” He looked at the pitcher of juice. “Do you want water or juice and don’t give me any lip about eating because I know you need to. I didn’t get out of bed so you could wait on me hand and foot while I’m here.”
Gregory cocked his head and looked at the other man and slowly let go of his face. “Did you even realize what you were doing?”
Davy looked at Gregory and then over to the counter where a smaller plate was made with what had been left in the pan and a slice of bread. “Are you angry with me?” he asked softly and picked up his plate. “I don’t know why I was doing that, I’ll stop if it bothers you.” His fingers curled nervously around the edges of the plate, as he was aware of the other man’s eyes boring into him.
Gregory started to answer then stopped and thought for a moment. Had it bothered him? In one way, yes, it had bothered him because the other man had thought to put his guest ahead of his health. He sighed and shook his head. “I’m not angry, Davy… just confused for a moment I think.” He shook his head.
“Leave the dishes until morning and bring your plate into the bedroom with me.” He held out a hand to Davy and poured big glasses of juice for them. He led them back into the bedroom and held Davy’s plate and the covers after he set the juice on the table.
He slid back between the sheets and took up the remote again after giving Davy back his plate. “I haven’t watched television in ages. Just never have the time anymore. Is Johnny Carson still on?”
Davy smirked and shook his head. “He retired a few years ago, but the show is still on with a new guy hosting it. Did you want to watch that?” he asked and leaned over to set his plate on the floor and reached to take the remote from the other man to find the show from him. It wasn’t one he had pre-programmed to watch.
Gregory held the remote out of his reach. “No. What do you normally watch?” He began pressing random buttons on the slender device as the channels flipped faster on the television set. “Ah ha!” He stopped as one menu program jumped out at him. “Davy’s Favs. Well, well what do we have here?”
He began scrolling through the channels listed on the menu. “The Real World, Essence of Emeril, Ab Fab.. what is that?” He looked at Davy and grinned. "Which one would you like to watch?”
He grabbed a piece of toast off the plate and spread grape jelly on it before forking up a bite of eggs. “Eat.” He hummed and licked his lips after swallowing the eggs. “These are good but I thought you didn’t eat eggs.”
Davy rolled his eyes. “If I am up this late, I’ll watch the cooking show,” he answered before he picked his plate back up and began to eat once more. “I do eat eggs, just not very often. I’m glad you like it, but it’s not eggs.” He forked up a mouthful and chewed happily before tearing off some of his bread. “May I get a glass of water?”
Gregory looked at the plate and then the bit of scrambled something on his fork. He eyed Davy for a moment and then cautiously smelled the bite. “Do I want to know what it is?” He shook his head. “I’ll get you some water, you just finish eating then I get to stick you this time.” He chuckled and slid out of bed, grabbed the empty glass Davy had used earlier and padded to the kitchen. “I changed my mind,” he called out. “Don’t tell me and I’ll just pretend its eggs.”
By the time Gregory had returned, Davy had cleaned his plate and had it setting on the nightstand to be taken back into the other room. “I won’t tell you then,” he laughed as he took the water and drained the glass quickly. “I finished.”
He yawned and scooted down in the bed, looking at Gregory with big blue eyes. “Watch what you like, I have the movie channels too.”
Gregory shook his head. “You always drink that much water or are you bottoming out again?” He grabbed the kit and climbed up the mattress to Davy, moving his tray to the floor. “I need a hand please.” He held out his own to the other man. “Just one stick then you can go to sleep.”
Davy placed his hand in Gregory’s and gave his hand a gentle squeeze. “Use my pinkie, okay?” he asked while running a hand through his hair. “I do drink a lot of water, so I think that is pretty normal for me. I feel good, not that tired, I just don’t want to watch television.”
Gregory hummed as he stuck the other man with the lancet and then fed the machine the test strip. He watched the numbers fall into place and nodded at the read out. He tossed the strip into the trash and put the machine back up in its case then set it on the floor. He took the tray with their dishes and the bottle of insulin back to the kitchen. Putting the medicine back in the refrigerator and draining the sink, he turned off the lights then padded back to the bedroom.
He wiggled his way under the covers and turned to face Davy, yawning and covering his mouth before shaking it off. “That’s fine, too much TV will rot your brain.” He turned off the TV then reached across the bed and ran a hand through Davy’s wild hair. “When do you go back to school?”
“A week from Wednesday. I start back with French Pâtisserie and some other means of sugar inspired torture by my instructors,” he laughed. “Too bad you will be so far away, you could have been my guinea pig.” He leaned into the caressing fingers and smiled. “How was my reading?”
Gregory frowned. “The reading was within the normal range. How do you do that? How do you control your diabetes eating all that sugar and stuff?” He let the silken strands slid on his fingers then tugged gently on them. He chuckled softly. “Overnight the sample to me, I’ll need all the sugar energy I can get with my caffeine liquid diet.”
Davy thought for a moment and smiled, “Have you given Mount Sinai any thought? Then you could get whatever I was baking right as it comes out of the oven.” He wasn’t sure how to answer the man’s other question. He didn’t want to tell him that he’d had a few close calls already, but he wasn’t about to bring it to his instructor’s attention.
Gregory raised an eyebrow and looked over at Davy. He hadn’t even thought about choosing a hospital in the Midwest. “I’ll look into it but you didn’t answer my question.” He ran a finger down the younger man’s face. “You be careful, all right? The scare out in South Dakota was a bit much even for me. You are a good friend Davy and I’d like to keep you around for a while.”
Davy caught the other man’s hand and kissed his fingertip. “Don’t worry about me, I’ve got it under control and I’m being careful, I promise,” he said with a grin. “If you like, we could maybe go by the hospital tomorrow and you could look around. You could always stay here until you found a place you were comfortable in.” The idea of having his friend close by made him happy and he hoped Gregory would give it some thought before dismissing it. He figured the other man would want to stay on the coasts.
Gregory shook his head. “You’d better. I’m not certain I could beat on you if you did fuck up again but I would try my damnedest.” He snuggled down into the blankets yawning once more. “We can go by the hospital on the way to the market in the morning if you like.” He pulled Davy to him settling him back in his arms as before then kissed his neck once again. “Sleep. Dawn thirty comes early in the morning.”
Davy nodded and tucked his body in closer to the other man’s, reassured by the strong arms that held him. “Thank you… would you like breakfast in bed?” he asked softly and then as an afterthought. “Sir.”
Gregory grinned against Davy’s skin and nodded. “If you wish.” It had been a while since he had last had a submissive in his life with himself as the dominant. It had been easier and a hell of a lot less stressful to go to Sturgis and relieve the tension of school and work by being the sub. However he thought that if it would help to ground the man he now held in his arms he would be that for him if he wanted.
Davy smiled to himself and closed his eyes, drifting off to sleep once more only to wake up with the late morning sunshine on his face as it filtered past the curtains on the window. He lie there for a moment and thought of the things he needed to do that day and then carefully slid out of the bed.
Moving quietly so he didn’t wake the other man, he gathered up all of their clothing from the floor and the bags in the living room, sorting it and starting a load before he began to clean up the kitchen. Once he was satisfied with his kitchen, he set about making a simple coffee cake, laden with dried fruit. He thought his guest might like it when he woke up. After switching the laundry over, he padded quietly into the bathroom to shower quickly.
He’d followed his normal routine and not bothered to take clothing with him to the bathroom, instead, he crept into the bedroom with a towel wrapped around his waist and his black hair dripping on the back of his neck. Davy paused for a moment to look at the man in his bed and he smiled, thinking once again, of how good it had felt to have someone’s arms around him last night.
Gregory groaned and rolled over pulling one pillow to him and curling his body around it, turning his back on the window. He slapped out for another one and dragged it over his head before pulling the blankets over then entire huddled mass of body and fluff. He settled down again sighing. Not going to get up just yet, he thought. Morning sucked.
Grinning as he watched the burrowing techniques demonstrated in his bed, Davy crossed the room and pulled the heavy shade down over the window, causing the bedroom to go dark. Severus had done the same things on a few mornings. He personally couldn’t understand it; he was a morning person.
Davy pulled on a pair of gym shorts and sat down on the edge of the bed to put his sandals on before he pulled a tee shirt over his head. He thought he’d go ahead and run down to the corner market and get a few things for the kitchen… maybe some bacon and eggs for the other man.
Gregory felt the bed dip and he stretched out his leg to the weight and pushed Davy off the end of the bed. He chuckled lightly and drew back up into the ball he had currently been in. “Why are you alive at this time?” The muffled inquiry came from beneath the blankets.
Davy looked over from the spot on the rug where he’d been unceremoniously dumped and stuck his tongue out at the blanketed lump. “It’s almost noon,” he said while he thought about revenge.
He got to his feet, walked to the window, threw up the shade and then leaned over and grabbed the corner of the blankets. With an evil cackle, he jerked the blankets and pillows from the bed, leaving Gregory exposed to the dreaded sunlight. “Wakey wakey,” he smirked and slapped him on the rump.
Gregory sat up and hissed at the other man, grabbed him around the waist and drew him into the bed with him, burying his face in the other man’s side. “Evil jerk.” He muttered into his skin and nuzzled his side. “Have you eaten yet? Did you do a test strip? How often are you supposed to test yourself?”
Davy rolled his eyes and sighed. “I picked at some cereal while I was making your breakfast, no I’ve not done a stick yet. I test when I remember to,” he answered in quick succession while he stroked Gregory’s blond hair and shifted his weight under the other man.
Gregory looked up into his friend’s face, hazel eyes narrowing in concentration. “You test when you remember to?” He sat up and looked down at the slight man. “Get your scrawny ass in the bathroom and test.” He grabbed Davy’s arm and dragged him from the bed. He sat the other man down on the toilet lid then went back for the monitor kit.
He returned to place the kit on Davy’s lap and then stripped out of his boxers. “I’m going to shower quick like and you are going to test then we’ll go get something to eat.” He bent and turned on the facet and adjusted the water temperature. “I happen to like having you around and you are going to get this straightened out.”
He looked at Davy and smiled. “I may just have to move out here just to keep your ass healthy.” He stepped into the tub and closed the sliding glass door then turning the showerhead on. “Go on, don’t just set there like a bump on a log, get to it.” He ducked under the spray, soaking his hair.
Shaking his head, Davy quickly stuck his finger and daubed the test strip. He slid it into the monitor and waited while he watched his friend shower through the glass. He smiled when the other man bent over to wash his feet and legs, Gregory was a very handsome, well built man and Davy could appreciate that. The little machine beeped and he made a face as he read the readout. Tossing the strip in the trash, he put everything away and stood up.
“Why do you want to go out for breakfast? I made you a coffee cake,” he called over the sound of the running shower.
Gregory squinted out through the lightly fogged glass at his friend. “Can you eat the coffeecake you made? I heard the machine beep what was it?” He pointed at the dark haired man. “And don’t lie to me because I know how to calibrate that machine and get back the last couple of readouts.”
“Sixty-four,” he replied as he leaned against the doorframe. “I made the fucking thing for you, not me.” He pushed himself off of the wooden frame and turned to leave the area.
Gregory frowned and shut off the water. He stepped out of the shower and grabbed a towel off the towel bar and watched as Davy swayed as he stepped away from the door. “I thank you for making it for me, I am certain it will be wonderful.” He said agreeably. He followed the other man and laid a hand on his shoulder. “Would you join me in a slice or two?”
The bread would do in a pinch for Davy’s sugars but he needed something more lasting and substantial for it to really have any effect on his insulin. He eyed his friend for a moment, hoping he didn’t get any more belligerent. He would hate to have to restrain his friend over some dessert cake.
Davy pushed the other man’s hand off of his shoulder and glared at him. “Of course it’s good, I made the damn thing and I am going to school for that. But then again, it’s not medical school. I can’t help the fact I’m a moron and you are so smart your head is going to explode at any moment. Leave me alone, I’m going to take a walk,” he snapped and poked Greg in the chest. “Don’t make me kick your ass.”
Gregory chuckled and grabbed the smaller man in a headlock. He couldn’t swing him around like Severus could but for what he lacked in height he make up for in muscle mass. He dragged the struggling man to the kitchen. He rummaged through a drawer one handed and found some glucose tablets.
Tearing the vacuumed sealed bag open, he scooped up a couple of them and shoved then in Davy’s mouth still trying to keep him in the headlock. He covered Davy’s mouth with his other hand and sat down hard on the floor.
He wrapped his legs around the other man and rocked him. “I’m sorry Davy but you had it coming. I don’t like doing this but I like you alive and with a few bruises than passed out in the floor trying to die on me.”
The smaller man struggled for a few moments and then quieted as the sugars in the tablets dissolved in his mouth, hitting his blood stream and raising his sugar level. The result was a near instantaneous regrowth of a brain. As Davy came back to himself, he brought his hand up to Greg’s and pulled it away from his mouth. “Greg… I am so sorry,” he said as he looked around, realizing they were on the kitchen floor. “I forgot to eat properly when I woke up, I thought I was alright.”
Gregory nodded and continued to rock and soothe the other man. “Is there anything here in the house more fulfilling?” He stroked the dark hair and then kissed the top of his head before loosening his hold on the other man. “It’s alright, Davy. I understand.”
“I was getting ready to run down to the market on the corner,” he said as he got to his feet and shook his head. “I let almost everything in the kitchen run out before I left so I wouldn’t have a bunch of things spoil. I was going to pick some meat and stuff up for you as well.” He pulled out a drawer and retrieved his checkbook, sticking it in the pocket of his shorts. “I’ll be back in a few minutes.”
Gregory shook his head. “Wait for me. Right now though, eat you a piece of the cake. It looks fabulous and the carbohydrates will help to keep you up until we can get some better food in you." He stood and adjusted the towel around his waist sighing, then looking at the other man. “Please for me.” He batted his eyes at Davy.
Davy smiled back mischievously, reaching out and snatching the towel from the other man’s waist. “I’ll order a pizza, okay?” he asked as he slung the towel over his shoulder and cut himself a piece of the coffee cake. “Do you want meat on half of it?”
Gregory grinned and sauntered out of the kitchen. “Pineapple and Canadian Bacon please.” He bent over to dig in his satchel, and finding nothing but his shaving kit. “Where are my clothes?”
“I’m washing them,” the other man replied as he picked up the phone to place their order. “I’ll get you a pair of my shorts, if you like.”
Gregory sighed. “Please.” He stood and wandered back into the kitchen slicing off a piece of cake for himself. He eyed the jewelled bread and grinned as he bit into the cinnamon and fruit sweetened bread. He closed his eyes and hummed around the mouthful. “Damn, Davy, this is really excellent.” He cut another slice of the cake and smiled at his friend.
“I’m glad you like it. I don’t get to cook for many people like this and I do enjoy it. Just think if you were to move out here, you could eat well everyday and I’d get all kinds of practice,” he grinned as he leaned in and kissed a crumb from the corner of Gregory’s mouth.
“I’d cook for you, keep your clothes clean, you could stay here,” he said softly and moved away before he could kiss him again.
Gregory eyed the other man for a moment and finished his cake. He understood what Davy was offering and if truth be told the benefits Davy had listed weren’t unbecoming. “Possibly but then you would have to put up with my making you eat properly and I would be seeing your doctor to make certain you were keeping up your health.” He smiled at the other man and pulled him close once again before gently pressing his lips to Davy’s.
“It’s easier for me to eat good when I actually have someone besides myself to cook for. Normally, I’ll eat a veggie dog and a handful of nuts for supper,” he said as he leaned in to offer his mouth again after the kiss was broken. He could easily see himself submitting to the older man and knew he’d be safe with him.
Gregory groaned and shook his head. “It’s a wonder you haven’t killed yourself.” He murmured and took the offer by sealing his mouth over Davy’s again. He wrapped his arms around the dark haired man, holding him close after he pulled away. He ran a hand over Davy’s hair and sighed. “I’ll call and reschedule my plane reservations. Would you like to go with me and get a few things?”
“To Boston?” Davy asked softly and laid his head on the strong shoulder of his friend. “I’ve never been to Boston.” He let the fingers of one hand stroke over the tanned skin of Gregory’s bare hip and smiled to himself. He wouldn’t be alone now.
Gregory nodded and grinned at Davy. “That’s where I lived… pet.” He stroked the other man’s hair and tangled his fingers in the dark strands tipping the other man’s face up to kiss him again, softly. “Shall we go ahead and go tomorrow morning? I’ll call and have one of the instructors at Cambridge write me a reference and have him fax it to Sinai this afternoon.” He looked down into the blue eyes. “We had better do it soon though, I think I can catch him before it gets too late; they are an hour ahead over there.”
“Yes sir,” Davy said softly and picked up the phone to give the other man. “I’ll go down and wait for our food after I take some of the laundry out of the dryer.”
He went to his small utility room and began to fold the jeans he took out of the dryer while he thought of the things he’d need to do in order to make Gregory comfortable there. Moving things about in the closet, freeing up dresser space, things he’d need to do if the other man wished to share the bedroom with him, otherwise, Davy would need to clear his second bedroom out and put his things into it.
Gregory called his mother first to get the number to the head Guidance counsellor at Harvard. She asked a few questions after him and he told her he would call her later after he talked to the other man. She reluctantly gave him the number having a feeling she’d just lost her baby to some school halfway across the country.
Dialling Harvard Medical School next he waited until he was connected and told the Counsellor what he wanted. The man was ecstatic for Gregory and told him that there was one opening left for the Paediatrics program there in Chicago.
He told Gregory he would take care of the paper work and that all he need from him was to sign for the transcription transfer. Gregory informed him he would be back in Boston tomorrow afternoon. They set a meeting time and Gregory hung up the phone feeling quite satisfied it had all worked out.
He padded into the laundry room and leaned against the doorway watching Davy. “I hope you are not working yourself into a frenzy over this.”
Davy flashed him an impish grin. “No sir, only folding laundry. How much room do you need in the closet or would you prefer separate bedrooms?” he asked as he threw the towels in the dryer and the whites into the washing machine. He gathered the clothing in his arms and started to move past the other man to take the things to the bedroom.
Gregory pinched Davy’s bottom as he went past and then followed him to the bedroom. He sat down on the bed and watched the other man separate out the laundry before putting it away. A buzzer sounded in the apartment and Gregory grabbed some cotton shorts off the top of the pile and slipped them on. “Be right back, I think the food’s here.”
