“I saw him, Shan.”
“You saw who, Jay?”
“Tomo.”
“Come home, Jared. Let’s talk about it.”
“No! I know it was him.”
“Where are you?”
“Detroit.”
“We searched every square inch of fucking Detroit two months ago. It wasn’t him that you saw. Come home.”
“I’m not coming home without him.”
“It’s time to move on. If he’s out there, he doesn’t want to be found. Come home, bro. Come home and let’s get the band working again.”
“There is no band without him, Shan.”
“That’s fucking bull shit! Fuck, Jay, you haven’t been home in a couple of weeks. Have you at least called Ma?”
“Tell her I’m okay, Shan. I’ll be in touch.”
“Fuck!” Shannon slammed his phone on the table with a cuss. “Fucking stubborn bastard.” He dropped his head to his hands and yanked on clumps of his hair. He had no fucking idea how he had let it get this far out of control but there was no denying the fact that it was. He felt responsible, he should have stopped Jared but he didn't. Too wrapped up in his own feelings to see past them and now it was too late. But then, what else was he supposed to do? He'd done everything short of physically removing Tomo from the situation and Jared was still obsessing over him. He couldn't see a solution because everything was so totally fucked up. Jared had dropped everything, and he wondered what exactly the last thirty-seven years of their lives meant to Jared if he was willing to throw it all away so easily.
