Debates. A necessary evil, really. Oh, they were fun most of the time, and Lukas had to admit that so long as the rest of his team kept their wits about them, they usually won, though only after a few kicks under the table whenever Lukas made a smart comment that smarted a bit too much. It was all just in show though. Anyone that'd watched a few debates with the York Prep team could already guess that Lukas stopped a rebuttal to make a snide one-liner or even a much longer, completely unnecessary wisecrack whenever the team needed time to pass notes to him. For the most part, Lukas alternated with a junior girl for delivering rebuttals. They were his forte, really; he kept his cool, made his points, took questions, and sat back down though never without a feel well-placed swipes at the other team's dignity. That didn't mean he wanted to get up from his chair every round though. Besides, he figured the junior needed the practice if she wanted to fully take over his spot next year, which he knew she did. To be fair, she wanted to fully take over his spot this year, but Lukas wasn't about to let that happen without making her fight for it.

It was between rounds now, and Lukas found himself wandering around the building, stopping occasionally to exchange pleasantries of varying levels of pleasant with people he'd met before, especially the members of York Prep's opposing teams. It was always good to meet and greet, and it was even better to taunt and flaunt. To his surprise, he spotted the back of a familiar person in the hall. A familiar person carrying what looked like a bag of something edible. Nic, of course. Who else? Weaving through the few clumps of people standing in the hall, Lukas easily closed the distance between them. He let a second pass before he tapped her on the shoulder.

"Heard you were threatening to smash some poor kid into little bits of blood and gore," Lukas said lightly. He hadn't heard any such thing, but this was Nic. She'd probably made a threat or two already by now--it's what made her so much fun to debate alongside or even against. "Hey," he said in belated greeting. "How goes things? Are you enjoying that cookie? Because I'd love to be enjoying a cookie myself, so if you'd be so kind..."
