Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: The Darkness, Merideth Upland, Kaitlyn Bell (all awakened senshi are STRONGLY encouraged to be here tonight, too, since it is the awakening of Sailor Moon! Of course, if anyone else wants to join, you are more than welcome to do so!)
WHAT: Sailor Moon's Awakening
WHEN: September 10, around 7:30 pm.
WHERE: York Prep's Theater
RATING: TBD

Despite the fact that five of her classmates were now dead, and The Darkness had actually gone through with her most brutal attack to date, Nic couldn't help but think that things were beginning to look up. With each new attack that The Darkness went through with, a new senshi popped up. And a new senshi meant that Nic therefore had another member to her team. Not only that, but with each new girl, it meant that that was just one more person that Nic knew in a past life...which, naturally, she thought was pretty cool. Every once and a while, she would have a dream, explaining more and more about her past as Kino Makoto; Sailor Jupiter--granted, she had dreams that depicted scenes from her past life every now and then prior to being awakened, but now that she was knew that she was Sailor Jupiter, these dreams came more and more often...at least once a week, it seemed. And though it sounded foolish, Nic couldn't help but feel at peace with herself, simply by knowing that she wasn't as alone in this world as she had thought. She was bound to these other girls, just because they were all sailor senshi; and it felt good knowing that she wasn't alone anymore.

Everyone knew about the attacks, so it was no surprise that when Nic returned to work the day after the attacks, she was greeted by her boss (a portly, older woman who seemed so caring that Nic wasn't too sure that she was really a New Yorker at all), who had informed her tearfully that she had been blubbering all day after having heard the tragic news about The Darkness's latest attack. It seemed as though Nic couldn't make a single movement that day without her boss dissolving into loud sobs and either wrapping her arms tightly around the sixteen year old or rushing to the backroom as quickly as possible--it seemed as if her boss was taking the news harder than she was. By the end of her work shift, quite ready to get the hell out of the bakery for the first time ever, Nic was surprisingly stopped by her still sobbing boss. As it turned out, she had been on the phone with a York Prep staff member and the bakery would be donating cookies and punch for some preview of the school musical that York Prep was putting on...and donating those two items was, after all, the least that she could do. Furthermore, she was giving Nic the next night off; sort of. Instead of working at the Milk & Cookies Bakery, Nic was instructed to attend the musical preview and help hand out the cookies and punch.

And surprisingly enough, this didn't bother Nic too awfully much. It didn't matter that she was a NYHS student, serving cookies and punch at a York Prep school organization; the school rivalry seemed to vanish since The Darkness's latest attack. Besides that, Nic had planned on going to see the school's preview of their musical anyway...had she not been scheduled to work that night. So in a way, it was sort of like a blessing that she was assigned to hand out the cookies and punch. Arriving at the bakery a few hours early to complete the order of cookies (she was going to prepare the punch actually at the school), Nic finally left her place of employment (cookies and punch in tow) right at seven. A few minutes later, the auburn-haired NYHS student had arrived at the school. With the program scheduled to take place at around seven thirty, she quickly unloaded the donated cookies and (still unmade) punch from her car, hauling them into the school. More than just a little bit relieved to see a table already set up, Nicole placed the cookies out neatly before disappearing momentarily to prepare the punch bowl. A minute later, she returned, carefully balancing the red liquid contained in an ornate glass bowl between her two arms before gingerly lowering it down to the table. Organizing the napkins and stepping back to take a final look at the table she set up, Nic was actually pretty pleased with the 'display' of cookies, punch, and napkins that she had set up--all by herself.

Now all that was left to do was wait. Wait for York Prep staff members to arrive (when she had gone to make the punch, Nic had already briefly met the drama teacher...who seemed nice enough), wait for the cast members (hopefully Lukas would have time to talk before he had to go get ready), and wait for anyone who came to see the preview of the school's musical. Plucking up a chocolate chip cookie, Nic nibbled slowly on it as she waited. As the minutes ticked on, Nic became more and more aware of the fact that there was something different about tonight. In her blood, she could feel that something was going to happen--and it was going to happen tonight; here. Shifting uncomfortably from one foot to the other, Nic put her cookie down, suddenly not feeling like eating anymore. Chewing on her lip, she pulled out her purse, rummaging through it until her eyes finally fell upon her green henshin pen. Feeling relieved that she had it, Nic plucked it from her purse and placed it in a closer, safer location (i.e. her pocket), before focusing her eyes back onto the empty room around her. If something was going to happen tonight, she was going to make sure that no one got hurt. No one was going to get hurt anymore, not if Nic could help it anyway.

Being in the play meant that Adenah was required to be at the school that night. She was alone when she approached the school, pulling up in her M3, very much aware that there were eyes following the beauty that was her car. Adenah had no sweet clue what made the car so special, other than its shiny red color, but it was a BMW, and she knew that was supposed to be good. Basically, she did no speak the language of the car. But she liked hers all the same. Her Grandfather had wanted to come, but he had ended up falling asleep about an hour ago, and Adenah could not bring herself to wake him.

These past few days had been absolutely crazy. When the Sailor Scouts started to arrive, she had never dreamed she'd be one of them. When she had shared that vision with Lukas, she had started to get a vibe that something was going to happen to her. Now, after the football game, her dreams, visions, and what she was seeing in the fire all made sense. Even Phobos and Deimos made sense. Adenah tilted her head up slightly to look at the crows who had perched in on the tree over her car. Now she knew why they were following her, and it all made sense. She felt safe seeing them there, and a smile came to her lips. "Wish me luck." she said to them, as she got out of her car. She heard their answering calls on the way to the building.

Entering the building she moved her sun glasses from her eyes, to her neck, letting the straps hold them there. She still had a while before she had a little bit before she had to start getting ready to go on. Her roll wasn't the lead, but she was still a constant presence in the play. Maybe next year, she would have a larger roll. Between the performance, the football game, the lost classmates, her transformation, and what she had seen in the fire before she came here, her mind was a buzz. Fire reading had it's advantages. She knew something was going to happen, here, tonight, to the people on stage. She had seen it, she just couldn't quite pin point who it was.

The room was pretty much empty, void of all people expect for one when she got there. Seeing Nic reminded her of her henshin pen, and her hand moved to her jeans pocket, just to make sure it was still there. She was going to have to tuck it some place else before she went on. The first time she had met Nic, they had not got along at all. But they were both senshi. Adenah had constant dreams of the former Sailor Mars, Hino Rei, being extremely close to the former Sailor Jupiter. Maybe it was the dreams, but she now felt a draw to all the scouts. So she as going to try being nice, and hope that everything was cool between them. She wasn't expecting another Senshi to be here, as far as she knew, she was the only one in New York Prep who was a Senshi, at least for now.

She didn't really know Nic all that well, so why she was standing behind a table with cookies and juice was beyond her. Did she work at some kind of catering company? That would make sense. Approaching the other senshi, with a tentative smile on her face, she stopped just a few feet away from the table. "Hey." she said, making sure her voice with friendly, without over doing it. "What are you doing here?" it wasn't a 'what are you doing here?' as in she shouldn't be here, it was more like she was surprised, and actually quite curious as to why she was standing here with cookies. More like a 'whats up?' sort of question.

Alicia felt horrible. She had been so caught up in her own issues that she had completely missed not only Mars' awakening, but Neptune and Uranus' as well. She needed to get to know them, needed to befriend them and work with them. They were her fellow Sailor Senshi and it was important to her that she know who they were. The fact that she hadn't been there when they awakened bothered her, but there wasn't much she could do about it now. Despite her guilt, Alicia was so thrilled that there were more of them. She wasn't sure if she and Nic could handle the job alone. Every single big event that seemed to happen, out popped another senshi. That was the backup reason why she was attending York Prep's production that night. She just...she felt that she should be there. Those dreams of her getting attacked were gone and had been gone ever since she had awakened as Venus. Now, she still had dreams...but they were of Aino Minako. They were of the past, and they were of her future. She felt more in tune with her new Senshi status, and she felt much more confident.

Her dreams and strong feelings were a reason as to why Alicia was there, yes; but also she had a friend that she had grown up with that was in the production. Alicia wanted to see her. She decided to stick to wearing jeans and black heels, and a flowy black shirt to match before leaving early to make sure she avoided the traffic and heavy crowd that always rushed in at the very last second.

Alicia glanced around once she was inside, not really recognizing anyone - but that was to be expected. She reached down to her left pocket, making sure her henshin pen was still there. She let out a breath of relief when she felt it. It was her strength, and her one up over whatever came out if anything. All her worries dissipated when she spotted Adenah and Nic at a table with cookies and juice. Alicia was thankful to have spotted someone she knew, and hurried over. She felt a bit awkward toward Adenah considering she didn't really know her or was there to help her, but hopefully things would take off.

"Nic! I'm so glad to see you here. I wouldn't have thought anyone else from school would be." Alicia smiled brightly, so very thankful that she wasn't alone. She turned to glance at Adenah and flashed a smile. She had had dreams of Minako and Rei getting along fairly well, and hoped that the same would happen for them. "Hey, it's good to see you."

Leaning against the table, fingers linked together in front of her, Nic tilted her head forward. Strands of dark hair fell over her shoulders and created a curtain over her lowered face, but she resisted the urge to look up. God, this was boring. And to be honest, she would have been quite content to just remain like that, hunched over with her head lowered...so long as no one bothered her. But that was impossible, and she knew that. Sighing at the sound of the door opening, Nic quickly lifted herself, moving her bangs out of her line of vision so as to properly see who was approaching her. And surprise, surprise, it was none other than the newest Sailor Scout, Sailor Mars. The very same girl that Nic had been at odds with. Awesome.

Well, this was sufficiently awkward. Barely a week or so ago, Nic had been the biggest bitch possible to the girl standing before her. And after having been proved wrong about her (i.e. the feeling that she got from Adenah hadn't been an evil one, it had been on of recognition; Dee actually turned out to be Sailor Mars), Nic knew that she was going to have to apologize and somehow make up for her rudeness the last time that they had seen each other...before she knew who Adenah truly was. But luckily, it seemed as though Adenah wasn't too upset about the whole ordeal...maybe she understood where Nicole had been coming from? At least, Nic hoped she understood where she was coming from. Tucking a strand of auburn hair behind her ear, she smiled weakly across the table at Dee, automatically taking on a very apologetic demeanor. "Hey, how's it going?"

Awkwardly looking to the side, her eyes darted back to Adenah as soon as the girl began speaking again; asking a very good question...why was she here? Just based on the way that the question was asked, Nic knew there wasn't a single bit of resentment or anger in any of her words, and a feeling of great relief swept over her. Her weak smile instantly broke into a bigger one as she gestured to cookies and juice in front of her. "Oh um I work at the Milk and Cookies Bakery and...after what happened...the other day...my boss decided that she wanted to donate some stuff to your school. And I was put in charge of handing out cookies or whatever." At the end of her mini-speech, Nic nodded her head, as if this confirmed everything, with her large smile still in place. In the silence that followed, however, Nicole's smile faltered, until finally disappearing from her face, and she found herself staring intently into the punch bowl as she spoke again. "Um...about that one time...at the cheer-off or whatever? Yeah, I'm really sorry about that," She raised her dark eyes to meet Adenah's, showing her that she truly was sorry, "I just got like...a vibe from you and I thought it was bad, so I just...reacted. And I'm really sorry about that. Forgive me?" Biting down on her lip, she looked hesitantly over the table at the newest sailor senshi, praying that she hadn't completely ruined any chances of friendship that the two would have.

But suddenly, someone was calling her name. Jerking her head instantly in the direction that the noise came from, Nic let out a rather girlish squeal before rushing around the side of the table to meet her best friend. Wrapping her arms around Alicia's neck in a hug before stepping back, Nicole flipped the bangs out of her face and rolled her eyes, "Yeah, my boss wanted me to hand out cookies and juice tonight. I planned on coming anyway, though." Stepping back just slightly, Nic turned to face Adenah this time, not being able to fight the wide grin that refused to leave. It was sort of cool knowing that Venus, Jupiter, and Mars were reunited once again. Clearing her throat, Nic decided to make the introductions formally, "Alicia, this is Adenah. Adenah, this is Alicia. I think you guys know who you two are." A knowing look crossed her face, as she was sure that she wouldn't have to add in that Alicia was Venus and Adenah was Mars. It was just that sense that all the girls seemed to have; once awakened, they knew who each other were. It was one hell of a connection.

The large smile was pretty much a good hint to know that Nic wasn't overly mad in anyway about what had happened. Which was good, because Adenah didn't want to be fighting with her. They had to be a team, they had to trust each other. They were supposed to be close. That would happened eventually. For now she was happy just knowing that they weren't going to glare daggers at each other for being in the same room. "Ah, OK. So looks like you're stuck here for a while then, yeah?" they still had to get ready for the preview, and put it on. If she was dealing in refreshments, she was going to be here for a while. Adenah was hoping a good number of people showed up, so if that happened, Nic could be here for a while. At least there was a good reason for being here, and she was sure a bunch of people were going to take advantage of it.

The mention of the cheer-off made her flinch slightly, her shoulders slouching ever so for a moment, before she regained her posture. "I wasn't exactly being the nicest person either, I helped botch things up quite nicely. I'll forgive you if you forgive me." she with a small smile. She knew what it was like to sense something from someone. Especially if you were new to the whole sensing thing. Adenah wasn't even new to it and she had mistaken Mic for someone bad, when she turned out to be the exact opposite. Apparently she was going to have to work on that. Adenah cocked her head to the side for a moment, watching Nic carefully. "Mates?- uhh..friends?" she asked, correcting her own language, she was in the States, sometimes she had to talk like it.

The girlish squeal made her jump slightly, and she took a step back before following Nic with her gaze, all the way to the new girl. Instantly she knew who she was. Not only because she was an Olympic Athlete and her welcome home party had been a huge ordeal, but because this was another member of the team. Another smile was offered. "Alicia." she repeated with a nod, stating that she knew was going to remember the girls name. "All right?" she asked, wanting to know how the girl was. Adenah wasn't sure why Alicia was here, unless it really was just to watch the play, or hang out with Nic, either or sounded about right.

From glancing in the direction that Alicia came in, Adenah could see that Ren and Kaitlyn had bother came. Was this some kind of gathering she didn't even know about? It was clear that Ren was not happy to be here. After her conversation with the girl earlier that day, she didn't know what to think. She felt bad for her, but also wanted her accept who she was. A small frown tugged on her lips, her eyebrows knitting together for a moment. She wondered for a moment if she should go over and talk to her, but instincts were telling her to give the older woman some room, and to not go around her for a bit. There were things she needed to sort out. Pulling her concentration away from the others, she brought her gaze back to Nic and Alicia, replacing her frown of concentration with another smile.

Ren had not made it to the football game – she’d heard about, how could she not have? The incident was all over the news and with people dying is seemed like the seriousness of the whole situation had just been escalated. Unfortunately this also meant that she’d missed the awakening of another Senshi and she didn’t have the pleasure of meeting the other girls yet. The woman did keep a fairly busy schedule so it wasn’t a surprise that she hadn’t had the time to make it to the football game. She didn’t make it a habit to go to High School functions – especially when she hadn’t attended either high school. Ren hadn’t enjoyed high school but something had drawn her to the preview show though. It was another feeling she couldn’t quite explain, very similar to the feeling that had drawn her into that small shop in Chinatown and the feeling that told her she needed to get out on New Year’s Eve. It was something she needed to do and the feeling was too strong to simply ignore. She assumed it was because someone she knew was going to be in the production – nothing more.

From entering the theatre it was obvious that the school had taken its fine arts programs seriously. It was something Ren could respect. A small sigh escaped her lips as she pushed past the doors alone. This felt wrong and she almost turned around and left. Instead she stubbornly forced herself over to one of the glass trophy cases. Her footfalls echoed lightly down the hallway. While her eyes looked to be focusing on the awards and accomplishments of the students throughout the years her mind was miles away. Suddenly she felt and uneasy sense of dread – similar to how she felt when she woke up from those dreams.

She slipped her hands into the back pockets of her jeans. The exhaustion she felt was only apparent for the briefest of moments before she turned around. Restless sleep seemed to find the girl at night. The dreams haunted and thus hadn’t actually had a decent night’s sleep since that night at Julliard. Her gaze found Adenah and two other girls grouped together almost immediately. Both girls seemed familiar even though Ren had never met them.

Keeping her distance she had settled for leaning casually against the wall next to the trophy case. She’d crossed her arms – obviously just waiting for the house crew to let the audience into the show. The hall was fairly dark and it was likely that she would be overlooked. For the first time in her life Ren was perfectly fine with that.

Kaitlyn strode towards the theater ticking off things she needed to do on her fingers. She needed to get in touch with Art, they'd meant to have lunch again, but things really hadn't worked with both of their schedules so it just sort of got put on hold. After the football game though, she really didn't think they should put it off too much longer. The Darkness was getting worse every time she attacked, and they still had senshi to awaken. Of course, the girls now were fantastic, but with all of them she hoped they could get rid of this new enemy. She was sure they would all appreciate being able to go back to their normal lives after ward -- even if for only a little while. If the past had taught her anything it was that the peace never lasted very long for them.

She also needed to arrange a meeting for all of them. Kat had no doubt they all had questions, and it would be better if they all knew each other. They were friends -- family, or had been, and Luna hoped they would be again. It only seemed natural that they would be given the time to get to know one another again. That and they needed to talk about finding both the Darkness and Sailor Moon. That and she wasn't sure how well they knew each other, but once they did she was sure it would at least be some comfort that they all knew who they could talk to about all his. Luna tried to make herself available, but she couldn't relate the same way their fellow scouts could.

Then she had her own job and classes to take care of. Her night classes sort of fell out of priority once this started, and she couldn't afford to let those grades slip. Well, she could, but she didn't want to. Technically she should be home studying the developing infant respiratory system, but this seemed the right place to be, and she didn't argue with that sort of feeling.

Moving inside, she caught sight of the girls all grouped around Nic's little booth, a smile pulling at her lips as at least one of her things to do seemed like it would be easier then she expected. However, on her way towards them she caught sight of Ren standing alone further away. Kat paused and decided to go to the sky senshi, properly introduce herself this time. She'd been there at Uranus and Neptune's awakening, but Art had taken the lead on that one.

"It's Ren -- right?" Kaitlyn said, offering a friendly smile as she stood beside the other girl. "My name is Kaitlyn, or Luna if you'd prefer. We didn't really get the chance to talk at the concert." She introduced herself, pleased that no one really seemed to pay them any mind back here.

The more dreams Ren had the less she wanted this life. She just wanted her normal life and she viewed herself as far too selfish to sacrifice everything for a past life. Her former self (or whatever she was) had made those choices and it never ended well. The fight against evil had been a never ending struggle – one which ended in their unavoidable deaths. She didn’t want to die on someone else’s terms. Sure – Ren did some pretty foolish and otherwise dangerous things but they were on her terms, her choices. She wasn’t about to be caught in someone else’s so called destiny. Or she would fight against it to the best of her abilities. Ren wasn’t stupid – she felt the pull of fate and was drowning in destiny’s call on a nightly basis.

Sleep escaped her because of it. It was starting to show – her manager was scolding her more often for slowing down or making stupid mistakes on the track. She’d started to miss Track practice; Ren was far to exhausted to run. It was getting difficult to hide how tired she was. This ‘heroic’ lifestyle was already ruining her life and she hadn’t even had the transformation pen more than a week. The only thing the night of Juli’s concert had done was making her dreams worse and gave her this awkward feeling in the pit of her stomach. She was full of doubt and the restlessness wasn’t helping.

Ren raised an eyebrow when Kaitlyn approached her. She figured the woman knew her name from the motocross circuit or school or something. A small smile touched her lips and she opened her mouth to greet the other woman. Until she’d mentioned that she was Luna. The smile instantly faltered as she crossed her arms defensively – effectively cutting herself off.

“Yeah, it is Ren.” She didn’t feel comfortable calling the woman Luna, it would be admitting defeat, it would mean she had to stop running from destiny and she wasn’t quite ready to do that yet. “Did you want to talk about something specific?” Her response sounded almost cold, icier than Ren had originally intended. She was sure the weight in her pocket – the transformation pen – was bound to come up.

It would be impossible not to notice the way Ren just shut down at the mention of the name 'Luna.' Kaitlyn had to say it was kind of disappointing. Sure she anticipated that maybe everyone wouldn't be to thrilled with the learning of their past lives. It did sort of take over, but she hadn't thought that Ren would just shoot her down like that.

"Nothing in specific." She said, still smiling warmly at the other woman. "I just wanted to introduce myself properly. Say hello." Kat wanted to offer herself as someone Ren could talk to if she needed it, like she had with the other senshi, but maybe the girl just needed more time.

She hadn't intended to do anything more then introduce herself, maybe a little friendly conversation. The senshi stuff could wait, preferably someplace more private with all the girls and Art, someplace likely not the next target. It didn't seem like the friendly chat was going to happen though, a touch of disappointment clear, but she started to go.

"Anytime you'd like to talk, or if you had questions --" She shrugged slightly and offered a small slip of paper with her name and cell number on it.
