Oh, god, maybe she should find some other hospital to work in, Maureen thought, wrinkling her nose slightly at the thought of the rude people in volunteering. Then again at least there was SOME bit of humanity in this building. She was probably enough to keep her here. "Thank you so much," she replied with a smile. Really, this woman could have just went on with her life like the others but she was taking her time out to help her. It felt very flattering.
Maureen followed her into the elevator, hanging onto every word. "Well, I did think of starting off small. I have pretty much the next four years to get experience since I just started school. Candy-striper does not sound bad!" It was a surprise that someone in their first year would already be thinking of the future. This was their teenage years... Maureen should have been thinking of just making friends and having fun. While she did want to do that, it didn't mean she could do that without keeping a smart eye on her future.
