Kaitlyn Bell ([info]lunarkat) wrote in [info]starlighting,
"Yeah, sorry about him." She didn't work here anymore, but a lot of it still came out as habit; apologizing, helping people out if they were lost, and Saturdays she still came in sometimes with coffee and snacks for some of the overnight nurses because after a while hospital food just doesn't cut it anymore. Kat was friends with these people, and knew her way around, so she'd still do whatever she could to help them out when she was here.

"He probably had you going in the right direction, but you don't really want to talk to the guys in volunteering -- They get awfully irritable around this time. I'll show you around a bit, and help you get those papers." Kaitlyn offered, the doctor who supervised student internships usually had some spare volunteer paperwork for anyone who happened to get sent to him by mistake, and he was a lot nicer then the others who wouldn't be in the best mood until after they'd had a break for dinner.

"So you want to be a candy-striper..." She started, leading the way to the elevator again, and motioning for Maureen to follow. "You'll want to make friends with people in the delivery room, and on the second floor filing room if you get the job. They're the nicest, and you'll basically deliver flowers and stuff to patients or sort papers. If you're not doing that they'll usually have you changing bed sheets, running errands around the hospital, cleaning messes..." Kaitlyn explained as they made their way up to the third floor, realizing she was talking a lot, but the girl seemed nice enough, and Kat wanted to help her out. Which included all her fun insider tips. "One of the filing guys is doing this as more of a part time job too, he wants to be a chef. So sometimes you'll get lucky and he brings lunch in for everyone working there. It's delicious."
