empyreans ([info]empyreans) wrote in [info]starlighting,
It had been 4:30 when Ren arrived at the concert hall within the walls of Julliard. Even in coming early the lines to get in were unbelievable. Well, not so unbelievable but they were stretched out the double doors. Girls had been chatting about the weather, the concert and Juli. A few of the guys waiting in the line had looked bored with their girlfriend’s hanging off their arms. The weather had been mild and generally overcast – but it had been overcast since the attacks on the citizens had started so the change in the cloud coverage went unnoticed. Surprisingly enough she hadn’t shown up in her oil smeared work clothes. Ren actually cleaned up nicely when she tried and today she was actually trying – though she wasn’t really sure why. The suit she wore was fitted to her small frame perfectly – it had been custom tailored and was probably one of the most feminine outfits Ren would wear. The thin rock-a-billy tie was navy blue with gold accents. The tie gave the outfit a more casual feel – as did the fact that she had the sleeves rolled up. She looked comfortable with the motorcycle helmet under her arm.

Finally when everyone had gotten into the concert hall and found a seat the show had started. Ren had taken a position along the side wall. She was far more comfortable standing anyway. After the concert the lights above shone down on the stage where a table had been set up. The curtains had been half closed to kin of highlight the table. The concert itself had been absolutely amazing – pop concerts weren’t really Ren’s thing but this one had been well put together, even for a surprise show. The woman tended to avoid being crowded into a place like this. She much preferred having the option to move and with this many people crowded into the room – movement was generally limited. Especially with the seating in the theatre and hadn’t all those weird attacks happened in crowded places? The thought immediately put her on edge.

Ren wasn’t actually standing in line – why would she need to? She maintained her position near the wall and had actually gotten herself wrapped up in a conversation with one of Julianne’s fan’s boyfriends about motocross. The man had instantly recognized her and approached her (leaving his girlfriend behind to stand in line with her friends). They’d been talking about her last race – she’d gotten caught up in explain how the track was difficult because it was one of her first endurocross races and she wasn’t totally prepared for it. The conversation had lasted about twenty minutes before the guy’s girlfriend dragged him away again.

Ren was left alone again, the idle conversation had kept her mind of the sickeningly bad feeling she had in the pit of her stomach. She’d had that dream last night and once again had lost sleep over it. That in combination with these strange attacks had her paranoid. She frowned – this was a concert at a school nothing could happen, right? Except that other concert and that other school… Her eyes searched the crowd carefully; apparently she wasn’t the only paranoid one. Ren was just better at hiding it mostly because she’d masked her concerns with a look of boredom. Her eyes found their way back up to the stage. This wasn’t going to be a bad day, right? She was slowly trying to convince herself that nothing could possibly happen – it wasn’t really working but at least she wasn’t the only one feeling restless.
